    As Evan states, he is using larger and single sided paper for the demonstration. If you want a result like the red and black origami shown, which to me looks great, you will need to use double sided paper with contrasting colors on either side. Also notice that there are two variations of the black and red model in this video. One at the start and end of the video and another at 0:44. To reproduce the first one, using double sided paper, start folding the units with the red side up, just as the white side is up in the demonstration. Make all ten the same. To make the second one, fold 5 units starting red side up and 5 units starting black side up and alternate the two types when assembling. Its a really nice modular origami. You can use single sided paper the first time around to learn the model, but it doesn't look very good. Much better with double sided kami.

      Thank you SO MUCH for this comment. I already made the first variant and wanted to make the second one. But as over explaining as Evan can do, he didn't describe how to fold the second one. Thanks again!

    Evan, nice tutorial style with your clear verbal instruction and penned in fold lines . I also like your focus on easier models, that I'm sure give novice folders encouragement when successfully completed. BTW your Star Icosahedron is amazing.

    As always, wonderful tutorial Evan :)
    It's worth noting that A4 copy paper and other 'A' sizes have 1:sqrt2 dimensions. But I do like the ingenious folding tool too! :)

      +Edward Holmes Glad you enjoyed the video, Edward! Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, A4 paper can be used to fold these units. 'A' size paper is not standard in the US, so I figured I would demonstrate how to cut the rectangles from squares so that everyone could follow along!

      +EzOrigami Yer, I think the folding tool is really handy! Especially if you want to use special paper.

    Hello and like to help!
    A beautiful star! I'm just not sure if it's worth cutting a square like that ...
    Thanks for the video and good explanation.
    That's it, I went to extract the root from two.)

    can you do it with a regular square sheet of paper like printer paper

    • @EzOrigami
      @EzOrigami  8 лет назад

      +Josue Glez Yes, printer paper will work for this model. However, you will need to cut the sheets into the correct dimensions (1:√2) before folding the units.
