- Unfortunately, due to copyright issues, I had to split this and the previous part into two halves. ^^;
Anyways, I absolutely love everything about this part (and the next scene) of Kung Fu Panda 2, both with the music and the visuals!! The emotion and sheer epic-ness of the score gives me chills every time. It might very well be my ultimate favorite action scene, I love it so much! Frankly, I could fangirl forever and make an extremely long list of why I love this so deeply, but I'd probably hit the description character limit if I tried that. xD
Kung Fu Panda 2 belongs to Dreamworks Animation, and the soundtrack is composed by John Powell and Hans Zimmer. All rights go to them!
Track used:
- Zen Ball Master
Huge thanks to MusicAndPlay Soundtrack Channel for providing public access to the extended score!

how lucky we are to have experienced this as kids tbh
literally
Yes we were
AGREED😁!!!!
Soo lucky 🍀 indeed
Yep I got chills as po just stood there
When the athletic kid is last in dodgeball
the quiet kid could also apply here
Then theres the fat kid that everyone thinks is slow but is unnaturally more athletic than all the other kids
@@mernsworms3307 that’s basically just Po

Your lucky because my headphones have died now I’m charging them 😢
@@WakerOfTheCryingRain with my wired headphones I have no such weakness
Anyone notice how the cannon balls are red and sparking furiously, but after Po catches and redirects them, they are a gentle yellow and spark less and have smooth, whispy flames coming off them
It's a really nice detail
It shows Po finally letting go of the painful past and using it as fuel for him to achieve his inner peace
you can see the transition at 3:15 it's so cool
I just noticed that, and you could easily interpret it as foreshadowing his use of chi from kfp3 which is awesome
@@venomark7883 it represents pope being attacked with trauma, and instead of letting it consume him he redirects those emotions in a positive way, turning it from rage and pain into peace and acceptance.
This Score is so powerful. Whenever I am writing the climax of a story I listen to it.
It's that last stand and "he might just do it" feel. After the midpoint it turns into "OH SHIT HE DOING IT!" At this point the man's become a rallying call and ideas are bullet proof.
Ironically it's the only reason to tell a story. And I mean that technically, humans NEED stories to know what to do. Religion has a word for this kind of inspiration, "martyrdom." The goal isn't to succeed, it's simply to resist. Stories are the legends of the people who DID succeed aka martyrs. Tragedies are the stories about people who didn't succeed aka Anakin Skywalker. The only reason for telling a tragedy is to show teach us how NOT to accept failure.
3:22 is beautiful, its as if destiny laughed directly at Shens face. He tried so hard to evade his destiny beliving that he had finally done so multiple times, just for it to still happen, and at the absolute turning point it shows po turning into yin and yang just as the soothsayer's prophecy showed in the beginning. Honestly a lot of people say shen or po could be the warrior of black and white and I could argue its a bit of both. As in the end the Yin and Yang shown here is half Shen's weapon and half po.
Thats also the message of the first movie
I got chill reading this it sound so epic and awesome
The score on its own makes the scene even more powerful. At 3:09 the bell tolls and Shen steels himself - this is his last shot at overcoming fate and he is resolved to take it. A master class in cinematography.
Well I know who passed their English class
You 100% right tho I love this
0:40 is such a gorgeous heartfelt rendition of this particular leitmotif i love it so much
It’s my favorite part of the score, along with 3:10. But tbh completely honest, the whole score is a masterpiece just like this entire movie
The moment Po turns to the Yin-Yang symbol gets me every time 3:08
@@slowfudgeballs9517 it also could be argued that shen died from his own hands since it said it would be by a warrior of black and white. He also took it as the closest thing to a win since he felt trapped by fate (one he sealed) and took killing himself instead of dying to Po or a public execution. And the description fits shen (except for red)
@@Dookieman1975 no
@@Dookieman1975 he didn't kill himself he was continuing to fight po but accidentally cut the ropes and he was suprized befor closing his eyes mostly his weapon killed him not himself
@@theidiotics2629care to explain
@@harirkhosroanjom8006standing there and taking a canon to the face is suicide. Still fits what I said. But the description of black and white is questionable when shen is mostly white and the black is just some lines on his robes. They did say defeated but they acted like he was gonna die and it’s a kids movie (a mature one that teaches important lessons but still has restrictions when it comes to death) so they’re not gonna say he’s killed. And defeat does include just giving up, defeat of morale and he just stands there and gives up. And with the yin and Yang in the prophecy showing po beyblading his way to victory, its more likely just talking about po
A detail I love about this fight is, well the attention to detail. Master rhino tried to stop the canon ball but died trying. Meanwhile Po “let it flow” and just redirected it. The canon balls even changed to a yellow hue after he caught it. Which not only somewhat resembled the Chinese ink art style, it looks like the flames of the dragon dancing on the water (Ik Chinese dragons control water not fire but it just looks like it and po is literally the DRAGON warrior solo-ing everyone on the water and even controlling the water)
Also fits his fighting style. Let it flow. Improvise, adapt, overcome. Random bs go
Wow I've watched that scene a billion times and never noticed the cannonballs changing from red to yellow. That's amazing
Incredible comment. I always thought the yellow hue referred to hus chi and stuff, as an omen for the third movie's plot
DokiemanSon of bltch , the chinese dragons controled the fire, not the stupld water

1:06 this is what I imagine Hopelessness sounds like.
The last Panda Shen thought he needed to kill to complete the genocide.
This scene is one of the reasons why I consider Kung Fu Panda 2 as having one of the best third acts of any DreamWorks film, and the score is vital in making this sequence as climactic as it is.
3:23 the moment Lord Shen realised the prophecy of the black & white warrior like the ying and yang was fulfilled. His end has come.

0:40 to 1:20 is the feelings to keep our mind calmy to our dreams make goals and facing the fears so to be defeated and comoleted our destiny.
Tonci Kelava that deep
3:25 this is why I loved kung fu panda as a kid
That final scene where Po redirects that one last cannon ball is even more powerful when you think about what Po is actually thinking during it. Po was most likely under the impression that Tigress, or possibly the others suffered critical wounds and were possibly even on the verge of death, and Po could have done all of that out of pure vengeance for his friends (And to win, of course), which just further shows how kind and caring he can be in serious situations.
@doctahwahwee2237 Right??
Bro the way the music picks up, as more instruments join the fray at 2:35 is immaculate
the tides are turning and you can FEEL IT
1:48 this is better than the movie version
?
in the movie its fucking silent
Yeah I wish they kept it in. They were probably afraid it would drown out Po's monologue but like, who cares?
To be honest, the movie version feels more suitable. You can feel the stake being much higher when using that, and the moment Po able to redirect the first ball, it shows the shocking moment much better there. But this version just straight out more beautiful. (This comment has been made by a person who has no knowledge about music)
@@ayanoakemi2973 Nah
This is the best movie music i've ever heard for an animated panda who learns KUNG FU. think about that!

1:07 This part man 🫠 I just melt everytime
Bros,i thought only me so like it,its best part😊
I was waiting for someone to mention this excerpt. When the orchestra comes in with the minor tune, devastating.
Everything here is just a masterpiece
Aside Po's ambitions to find inner peace to overcome his past, the music is the reason why I prefer 2 over the first. At 3:00, I love that the music eventually swells up when Shen realises he is hopeless against his unstoppable enemy despite the power of his army, Po looks at him in the eye before his enemy looks back in defiance before taking fire for the last time. Absolutely powerful scene.
2:48 best part
I listen to the entire song so many times...and wait for this part so eagerly.. its like the beat drop but way better!! Just absolutely love it🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩...Bow down to hans Zimmer and John Powell and everyone who made this😭😭😭😭
3:10 I love this part most ❤🥲
This is the only movie I can think of where the final conflict just feel so satisfyingly epic. Two ideals clashing ferociously! Inner peace verses war. Martial arts verses industrial weaponry. The contrasts are endless.
I love the score itself so damn much and how you can feel the overwhelming yet desperate power of Shen's Fleet colliding against the immovable object that is Po's resolve. This is the kind of grand finale you would get from something like a final boss in a game or the main antagonist of a shonen anime.
This piece plays in my head when I’m trying to get to sleep and it keeps me up bc of how fucking fire it is from a musician’s and storytelling perspective
I’m willing to claim that this is the best villain theme in media.
I’m literally thrown away at how magnificent this score is. I swear it gives me chills every time. Wow...
This gives me MAJOR GOOSEBUMPS, HOLY CRAP!

@@generalkenobi2088it didn’t ruin the trilogy but it was easily the weakest one

finally a video with comments on (its literally almost impossible on these movie scene videos)
I just realized that (besides a few spots in the beginning before he gets into a flow) Po never takes his eyes off Lord Shen besides focusing on the cannonballs and turning around. You can actually see this before he does the “Your next” thing at 3:01 and when he spins at 2:44!
He isn’t just goofing off or being silly, he hasn’t forgotten what Shen has done, he just won’t let it stop him from living HIS life and protecting HIS friends. In a very Po way, he found inner peace in the hardest of circumstances.
This....this is why KFP2 is the Dark Knight of DreamWorks Animated films.
1:48 it's a shame they changed it in the movie
Changed what
@@theidiotics2629The score. As the music swells as they fire the cannon amd Po redirects it whilst thinking of inner peace, in the movie, that swell is completely absent
3:16 the PlayStation controller flying towards my grandmothers head after I loose 15 ranked matches in a row
I absolutely love this scene it’s just breathtaking the animation is amazing the colors and the shading are very well done and it just releases a feeling of suspense and kinda leaves you at the edge of your seat and plus the soundtrack it’s full color its vibrate, it makes the scene pop with life
This scene is just epic 👏
0:58 damn...
1:52 He did it!!! Po unlocked his inner peace! _And tranquility!!_ 😄 Poor Shen. It was at this moment he knew...he done messed up. :/
Hope you'll have a marvelous day, Scenes and Scores! Thank you for all you do! You are my hero! Just like Po and his friends shown throughout this movie! And just know whenever you might be having a hard and stressful day, simply look up at the blue sky and know someone out there appreciates and supporting you always!! 😁
I know right? I am bummed that DreamWorks didn't include the Inner peace motif at this very moment in the movie!
i dont wanna read this... its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long text
3:23 this moment, I believe, is when Shen literally flashbacks to what the prophecy was: that he would get defeated by a ying-yang, a warrior of black and white
Po after letting go of his past and embracing it rather than let it hurt him more in order to achieve his "inner peace" and let the cannonball flow line a droplet of water and control it rather than take it on like Master Rhino did
Po creates and perfects a fighting technique in 2 minutes
He is the Dragon Warrior
This is the most badass game of dodgeball I've ever seen.
Po's gentle expression he shows for mere moments at 1:44 is something burned into my brain. I dont know why, its such a powerful image, his stance, his face, the situation.
Same as his face in 3:04, his stern unshaken face of 'cmon then, give it your best shot'
Its those two moments that are my favourite during the whole scene.
ugh that 7 time, its so intense 2:12
This is what i called an anime battle.

Your wish had just been granted
I'll be a bit honest, I don't really see a point in them needing to make a part 4 when part 3 was a great way to end the franchise. Other than maybe Tai Lung returning as the main villain but worse this time. That would be cool actually.
@@sierracook3343 it was planned from the Start that they’d make 6 Movies Total making 3 more Sequels to come, but since Times Spare keeps coming and such and there are Years that it takes to make Movies like these, it probably just won’t end until the 6th.
