WHAT WE USE:
Apple Iphone 12
Music: Solitude
Musician: Rook1e
INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs cucumbers
2 tsp salt
Seasoning:
1 garlic, minced
1/2 small onion, sliced
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1-2 tsp sugar
2 tsp fish sauce (or you can substitute with soy sauce)
2 tsp sesame oil
2 tbsp gochugaru
1 tsp sesame seeds
Why do people put sugar in their veggies 🤣 that's so nasty 🤢
Ummm…a lot of salad dressing contain sugar and people put that on their veggies. Is that gross too?
i don't know, why do people go to church? or wear makeup? have you considered that other people are different than you and just like other things? you're not acting very christlike out here, girl.
The sugar is there to help balance out the acid. 😅
You serious ?
just, shut up.
best eaten within 1-2 days....... those don't last 1 - 2 hours in my house.
Hahaha! That good, huh? 😊
Give me a good 20 minutes and they'll disappear
Been making this for years ... never get tired of it
I hope you don't mind me asking.
Is it best to use roasted seasame oil and seeds?
And would it still work OK to slightly fry the onion and garlic on a low heat to take away the rawness, I can't handle it Raw unfortunately. Thank you 🙏
@@Justthegoodstuff-gh2xxme neither. Hate raw onions and garlic. You can definitely fry them! And as for the seeds you can put what you want in it. There’s so many different recipes! Hope you enjoy it and sorry you didn’t get an earlier reply. ❤
Another easy recipe :
Cut cucumbers into thin slices, sprinkle salt and pepper (as per your preference) and add lime juice. Mix well and rest for 2min. Enjoy!
How long your recepi last? Cuz I wanna try it..
@@meaw6423 it will last upto 2-3 days
Thanks this is much easier 😅
I just made it and substitute the Gochugaru powder with cayenne pepper. Still delicious 🙌🏻
At first I was thinking to order Gochugaru online, but my broken wallet says it's too expensive. Also use regular vingar :)
Gochugaru shouldn’t be too expensive online but usually there’s a lot of it or a whole box for whatever price it is so you should be able to find it somewhere.
Or it’s pretty cheap inside your local Asian grocery store!
Looks
Absolutely
Delicious 💯 👌 😋
Thank you 😋
I've made this at least twice and wasn't too happy with it. But then I MADE YOUR RECIPE!!! I was missing the fish sauce! This is absolutely amazing!
Wow super looks nice 👍🏻
So good, perfect blend of ingredients!
Thank you for your videos and content because me and my wife have been trying to eat healthy doing what you're doing
i would highly recommend using cucumbers with bigger seeds inside, tastes a little sweet and not bitter at all💯
Liked!!! Looks good
Thank you so much!
Wow amazing yummy
Looks very yummy and easy I’ll try it today !
Thanx
Thank you!
Thank U for this yummy recipe … I love cucumber kimchi or cucumber 🥒 salad …. I’ve been longing to make one of this … GOD bless ❤️😘
Nagawa ko masarap pala
This is INSANE, it's so easy to do and so so good? I did not put in the fish sauce because I'm not a huge fan of it, and only put 1 table spoon of gochugaru instead of 2 because i'm a big baby, but it still tasted so so fine! Thank you for taking the time to film and post, you can be sure i'll be doing this so often
Simple and nice. Gonna try it this weekend when I go to the supermarket.
Hope you enjoy
Aunty Rose u never disappoint…..always the kine on point! You and your recipes rock!
Mahalo Unko T!
I've been looking for this cucumber kimchi recipe for a long time. wow it turned out to be very easy to follow, and easy to find all the ingredients in my country, Indonesia. Thank You.
Hi there! I’m so glad you enjoyed it🥰
@@RoseAustinCooks First of all i am vegetarian so no fish oil/sause, secondly Jain so no onion and garlic. What should I do?
@@tanya4868 you can switch fish oil with soy sauce, but garlic is quite necessary I think, you can pass it and it'll still taste good but it won't be the same.
@@nisa3612 thanku for telling ☺️ I'll try for sure 😇❤️
TrIng this this summer. I love cucumbers :)
I am going to make this, some day..
looks yummy would like to make this too
So delicious
Thank you 😋
Thank you I will make this regularly. I love kimchi and this will do until I get some which is sometimes hard to find. Have a great day!
Oh. My. God. This is one of the best recipes I've ever made! Thank you so much for this!!

You are so welcome!
Salamat Rose gonna show this to my mom

Yummie! Can’t wait to make this.
I had it @ a Korean restaurant and I’m in love with it!!!!
Thanks
I have ate it so many times and it really good
Just made this. Tastes really nice even without the fish sauce (ran out of fish sauce!) Added some calamansi juice too. Yummy, healthy and refreshing 😋
Thank you!

Yummy

I clove of garlic, that's cute
The last cucumber at the end was ranging for its life lol

You are so welcome
It looks so good I wanna try it so bad :((
Definitely worth trying!
Is it best to use roasted seasame oil and seeds?
And would it still work OK to slightly fry the onion and garlic on a low heat to take away the rawness, I can't handle it Raw unfortunately. Thank you 🙏
I gotta try this
Made it , waiting for the taste test 😊
Hope you liked it!
I’m going to try this with English cucumbers since they don’t release as much water and stay crunchy pretty long
❤❤❤
I will make this later ❤
❤❤
Cucumbers, the new gold. 😔
Looks good!
I have a question. After making this, are you to put it in the fridge right away and eat it within 2 days or leave it outside and eat it within 2 days?
you can put it in the fridge right away, or you can leave it out for a day and then put it in the fridge. it lasts up to a week
This salad not making like this you need cut the cucumber as a roll shape idk if i understand you but this way is not bad it’s delicious 💐💐
👌👌
I noticed that a lot of people don’t put fish oil in their cucumber salad recipe. Does it give it a different taste / does it change the taste in anyway ?
👍😋
What should one use if they don't have access to gochugaru because this looks amazing and I wanna make it
Can I use white wine vinegar instead of rice vinegar ??
This is like the smashed cucumber recipe that many videos are showing
Vegetarian substitute for fish sauce?
i have always wanted to try this! But i don't know what fish sauce taste like? 😅
I don't have gochugaru but would gochujang work the same?
maybe you can also use hot pepper flakes from your supermarket as an alternative
Can we skip fish sauce?
What is the substitute for fish sauce
Is there something else we can add instead of rice vinegar.. we don't have those here
White rice vinegar and apple cider vinegar are good alternatives 👍🏼
What's the shelf life??
Best to be eaten on the same day, but I've had it on the second day and it was still ok, just not as crunchy.
Can we change gochugaru with chili oil?
Can I put something else instead of fish sauce because I’m vegetarian?
hmm maybe soy sauce?
What if we don't have fish sauce nd gochugaur
If I don't have white onion Can I use red instead ? And what if I don't have sesame oil is there any other oil I can use as a substitute ? Please someone tell me 🥲
You can use olive oil as well
Please share a vegetarian version also
To make it vegetarian, don't add the fish sauce. You can use a fish sauce alternative.
اختي نجلبت عليه🤓🤓🤓😂
What if you don’t have gochugaru?
You can use a mixture of cayenne pepper, paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes.
@@GenevieveThornton thank you
How long can u store it in the refrigerator
Add sesame oil
I did.
What is gochugaru?
Korean chili flakes
Am I able to substitute the fish sauce for something? I don’t eat fish or meat 🫣 sorry
I saw someone else asked the same thing, the answer they got was to try soy sauce instead.
Does anyone know the name of
The song?
solitude by rook1e
Can I not put seeds
What was that spice gochugaru? What does it taste like?
It's korean for chilli pepper powder. Which I'm glad for because I actually have it so I can make this recipe today.
@@himurahana8672 lucky!
@@skp6613 😁
In chinese cuisine they call it cucumber salad, in korean cuisine they call it cucumber kimchi. Don't get confused. Both have a little difference.
Who was confused?
First of all i am vegetarian so no fish oil/sause, secondly Jain so no onion and garlic. What should I do?
So don't make it
And don't eat it
Simple
Or don't add this ingredients 😂
@@Lakshita15200 trusfruated 😐😶🤯🤯
You can try soy sauce and kelp (mix few spoons of soy sauce with dried kelp/algae/nori and let it sit for a few hours to give off the fishy flavour); as for the others, I am not sure what you could consume, but if leaves are alright, chives leaves could be a decent replacement for onion and wild garlic (there is a plant with leaves shaped like tulips, but I don't know if it has a different name other than that, try looking up "leurda planta" if nothing shows up) for garlic
@@mihaelacosinschi I'll try ty 😊
Fish sauce? I thought it was rice vinegar. Never had fish sauce in Korean cucumber dish
I bet you can use lemon juice in place of salt.
The salt is used to release the water in the cucumbers. When you cook vegetables that contain a high amount of water(zucchini, mushrooms, cucumbers) the salt will release the water from the vegetable, which allows seasonings and delicious flavorings to be absorbed into the food and not be diluted by high amounts of water
if you're worried about salt intake you can rinse the salt off them after the juice is released, just make sure you pat the cucumbers as dry as possible so your salad isn't super watery! :)
If you don't have the powder you can substitute with paprika , red crushed peppers ,and Cayenne. I don't use the Cayenne tho
What gochuguru
Korean dishes are all originally Japanese
Radish salad kimchi uses the same ingredients as this cucumber kimchi dish. It falls under the kimchi umbrella. 🙄
Its not Korean, it’s a Chinese dish its just that Korean’s enjoy it
Radish salad kimchi uses the same ingredients as this cucumber kimchi dish. It falls under the kimchi umbrella. 🙄
이거 개존맛이지
It's a side dish aka banchan...not a salad.
Onions dose'nt add up yeah different people have different ingredients😌
But Koreans don’t use fish sauce
Yes, we sure do!
in soups they do as well.
You just turned a heathy snack to not so heathy lol
That's a very good salad but not kimchi.Because the raw garlic, onion and the water you let the cucumber have never gonna stay it for long.
I made it with gotchujang- is that still ok? Since we don’t have gotchugaru😅🥲
Well, did it taste good?
@@briseis_eliopoulos I mean ye but I thought that gotchugaru would have a specific taste but ye I was just asking them lololl
Yummy
What is gochugaru?
A Korean spice
korean red pepper flakes
