    And by the way thanks for the little doll pop-up.... I don't know why I don't even care for the character... But that the doll shows up in the first place with a smile on my face...... It could be little lambsy.... Maybe Kermit the Frog or Teddy ruxpin..... I'm sure I would do the same

    I have a couple of things to add, when you designed and cut that pair of plates with a couple of mouse/keystrokes put some curves on the excess corners and get a signature that the plasma cutter can put on your work. When you make tools like your bike jig it is going to be around for a long time and reminding who built it is?

    Nice one. I like the Urch road street sign. Reminds me of the early Mongrel days where it was day 1, day 2 not part 1, part 2etc. Also you could reuse the jig and build another bike to sell just for extra income as you already have a ore fabbed jig. Sourcing the engine etc, may be more problematic but just a thought. Also what about a self feeding oil system for lathe or kunming milling machine? Perhaps too much effort for what you can easily do by hand but
    Cheers from Bristol

    Can the tightness of the bolt/slot assembly be attributed to the expansion and contraction (from heat/friction/machining) of the material during the fabrication process? Is there a tolerance that needs to be accounted for? I am seriously just asking because I don't know...

    • @RussZHC
      @RussZHC 4 года назад

      Maybe and yes. Something like Machinists Handbook or other machining reference has all sorts of tolerances. Starts off with how exact a fit is "needed" knowing that, as example, a 25mm round bar won't fit in a 25mm hole (drilling or boring will make a difference in itself; drill, bore, ream all change how round and how accurate). In this case, as example, if the slot was off just that hundredth from straight and the milled rod was off the same amount but the opposite direction, no fit.
      WAG in this case though, machining those flats on threaded rod will have left burrs or rolled over edges that did not want to fit.

  • @VdubSPAZ
    @VdubSPAZ 4 года назад

    You need to invest in a tolerance gauge ... It allows you to know how much run out you have... Or offset ..... I'm sure someone will give me the correct name of it but in the case you'll have the correct name and it's magnetic has a little dial indicator with a little needle that protrudes out to measure off of whatever that's round

    • @johncooper751

  • @chrismechanic2000
    @chrismechanic2000 4 года назад

    you would have been better off making a fixture to machine the outside of the cones, or you could have got away with making the inside hole tight to thread OD and using washers at both end's.
    this will make the whole jig more accurate.
