This was for sure the worst day I've had in Senegal so far. Despite this horrible incident, I still love Saly the same. Have you ever had something like this happen to you?
I felt your pain; my Ghanaian husband and I had a similar experience on our 2021 visit to Ghana. The Airbnb owner misrepresented his unit online and I pushed back; eventually he and my husband negotiated a price for another unit on his property, but he wanted the deal to take place off the Airbnb platform. I said no, but my husband agreed with the offer, it was a stay from hell! The following year we commenced to building our own townhome in Ghana; it too has been a challenge, but eventually we will be in control of our own housing when we visit.
Thank you for promoting our countries in Africa. Senegal and Kenya 🇰🇪 are developing countries and one can get many amenities. Love it good work. Love from Philadelphia Pennsylvania,
What a bumpy ride, it's ashame you had to go through that but I guess thats life, and I'm glad you found a better alternative. 👍the Airbnb is beautiful.
@ Thanks for letting me know. When I come to Senegal I MUST stay near water, so in Dakar I’m at Radisson Blu. But when I got married last year we honeymoon in Saint Louis, Somone & Saly. The Airbnb in Saly was beautiful from the pics & literally less than 100 steps from the ocean, the listing never said, I was sharing the place with mice & waterbugs the size of lemons. I was too done 😑
@ you surely cannot & I don’t care how much it costs I will pay whatever to have an oceanfront room. And quiet as it is kept…the breakfast buffet makes staying there totally worth it.
The cameras would have been a deal breaker for me as well. It's a shame she didn't just accept the 50/50 offer where you stay one night and cancel the second night. That was a fair compromise but her loss if she wanted to be stubborn.
To be on the safe side, when booking an airbnb in Africa i would just book superhosts because uou at least get some sort of a decent service. To be superhost, you have to fullfill certain requirements from airbnb and make your guests happy. I only book superhost when i book airbn in Africa and have never been disappointed.
J’aime trop des musiques. Il faut vraiment penser á mettre des liens ds tes descriptions pour qu’on puisse découvrir tes artistes aussi. Merci pour les découvertes 🙏💖
I've never stayed at any Air bnb before. This is exactly one of my concerns - dealing crazy home owners. I am also concerned about freaky people who install hidden camers in their apartments. BTW, can you see the property location on Google maps? If so it's a must to know the location before booking to make sure it's close enough to transportation and places of interest.
Why do some of you people feel so entitled??? She is not obliged to give you one night and cancel the other. Why do you think she is obliged to do so or why do you think you are entitled to that??? Sorry bro you are just wrong here. You are just moaning like a spoiled brat. The booking details made it clear - before you booked - that payment was non-refundable. There are other apartments that have more flexible cancellation policies: you could have booked those ones, instead rather than try to force your own rules on her. And she was correct about the money she spends cleaning the apartment and also about other people who might have booked the apartment, instead of you. Sorry, but you are in the wrong here. Your only recourse would have been to report to AirBnB about the cameras... I'm not sure how that would have gone, seeing that she showed you that they had been unplugged. Besides the camera issue, on everything else, you were wrong. I also want to point out that there was nothing in your recording that showed her to be rude or arrogant In fact the impression I got was quite the opposite. She offered you - in a gentle manner - something to drink. She also offered to call a taxi for you. She finally got fed up with your argumentative attitude. And this is your own recording that was supposed to discredit her! She didn't sound rude and arrogant. You were the one who was argumentative and condescending. You are even lucky that she gave you a full refund. You cost the woman money and gave her aggro and you are complaining, as though you are the victim.
Thank you :) I was afraid I would be the only one who thought he was being dishonest. Contrary to what he says: the lady was not aggressive in her words or in the intonation of her voice (those who understand French will realize this when they hear her speak). We hear that she offered them a drink when they arrived and was concerned that they were okay. In her words she tries to make him understand that since 7am she had been preparing the villa to welcome him. She had a cleaning lady come to help him, she was tired, it cost her money so she couldn't have made all these physical and financial efforts to pay him back and settle for a sum of €50. Seeing that it was a dialogue of the deaf, she ended up telling her husband who was talking to Ivain: "I've been cleaning since 7am, I can't accept his proposal, I'm tired now, let him go if that's how it is". Words that Ivain transformed into: she told her husband "shut up, I'm the boss", "get out of here!" I find this distortion of the text very dishonest on Ivain's part. From what I can see, the only fault the lady committed was asking Ivain and his friend to go out Concerning the refund, she is within her rights, she has no obligation to refund him.
Anyone can bargain in any situation, regardless of entitlement. and yes he did get back his money. Have you ever heard the saying " customer is always right"
I may differ, but from the reviews you can see that she has great reviews from previous places, and yes the place is remote area as you say its new buildings and it will take time maybe years. Yes it is no excuse to not clean the house when you expect guest and the cameras as well but looks, mqybe you should have asked more info particularly if you do not know the area before you go if you never been there. Maybe she was stressing hence behave like that, but it is not an excusw as well. But this small things do happen and sorry you have bad experience but looks like its a nice quite place to stay.
It was so freaking dirty. She needs to empty the water and clean it and start over. It’s insanitary and I was very disappointed. Thanks a lot for watching!

That very bad customer service she wasn't willing to mitigate the situation don't look as though they do much business.
She is a damn scammer it better to book close to the City.
Call police on her so that she gives you a refund.
Stay in your lain. I don't trust you bro.
Is this owned by a Senegalese or some white dude?
@@theresajohnson9001 I think that host owns it. She is Senegalese
Please, some respect.
Congratulations to Senegal 🇸🇳 a Beautiful country with Beautiful people and culture .
For your next trip think about visiting all of the beautiful islands in Cape Vert .you will not regret starting with Praia , Saõ Vicente, Sal etc go to Cape Vert you will not regret .
I absolutely will get there eventually. Thanks so much for watching!
That's why I don't like AirBnBs. Too many issues.
As experienced traveler you should not be sleeping in unreliable places and seeking refunds. The woman seems arrogant and the atmosphere is messed up. Expose her online for potential consequences, as everyone watches reviews in today's world. Avoid wasteful discussions and expose her to the public. Do your do diligence before you book at any place.
Thanks for watching! And I agree wirh your statement.
All the complaining you do,Sénégal is way ahead of your country Cameron.Give us a break
Thanks for watching!
No reason to take it so personally. It's not a competition between Africans. It's a travel blog of a man who travels the world. This time in Senegal.
Proprement scandaleux !!!
Stop complaining....you did not research properly. It is her place and she has the right to put cameras there. You didn't want to pay. Simple! Walrus man.
Thanks for watching !
Shocking…she must be removed and blacklisted from Airbnb for violating Airbnb policy…this is a serious problem
When you found the Airbnb, did the owner give you dos and don’t s.
The owner should learn to manage criticism much better, she obviously didn’t deal with it properly, hope she Learn from her mistake, and not leave guest stranded.
