    Happy to see you doing stuff again. I love your style and presentation. Yeah, you’re in the same limbo as many of us outside North America are with our FSD. Waiting waiting waiting. The good news is that we now know there are the internal FSD testers in many countries. Hopefully it’s not too long away.

    I grew up in the UK & drove a vehicle there until I left for Canada in '82.
    I have the '19 M3SR+ and they upgraded me to HW3 prior to the FSD roll out. I've had it a while here and I'd be patient. RUclipsrs show FSD works well in the US. I also see their roads are well laid out & signed. Here in Canada we have similar road infrastructure but some things must be different enough to be a problem.
    I believe a combo of issues will hold back further roll out. I've noticed it has slowed in making decisions at junctions as there's lots to process. Straights are fine. It does not do filter lanes well. It aborts on a change in the wind & mostly unexpectedly. It now does not do well in rain/snow/dark & flashed a degraded message. I run short 5min run errands daily along familiar routes and interventions occur all the time. I often react faster than FSD. And it's frustrating waiting at an intersection for it to decide to go when there's cars behind me. I often have to gun it.
    I went on my first trip to Fully Charged Live in Vancouver from Calgary. FSD spent 3 hours beeping and flashing FSD degraded at me every 30 seconds or so! It did not like the dark.
    Now factor in the more complex compact & narrower roads of the UK. A lot more processing is required. I do not believe it can cope. I'd hold out for HW4 and demand the camera upgrades too.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm all in on Tesla, but this retired systems analyst, programmer, engineer & life coach is not easily gas lit.

      Thanks! Yeh it’s a real shame, I’ve seen a lot of people going for refunds of FSD and go back to standard AP as it isn’t very different at all, I may look at doing the same!

    • @VideoGameKillCounts
      @VideoGameKillCounts 8 месяцев назад

      When you see how well Tesla performs in America with the ‘real’ FSD (the mode that changes the entire interface and has a single blue line on the road to show it is engaged) it is almost fraudulent that they charge the same amount for a highly degraded experience that seems no different from AP - with the exception of stopping for stop signs and traffic lights 🤦‍♂️
      Superb content, appreciate your updates and I’ve recently subscribed. 👍

    I've missed your videos and how you challenge Autopilot. It is so annoying that EU laws and regulations prevent autopilot from doing simple things, like turning more than a certain amount or making a turn or just changing lanes. I am excited to see FSD in the UK. I think it'll be so much more interesting than in the US because of how different the roads are. :)

    • @blackale
      @blackale 9 месяцев назад +1

      It was little to do with EU laws. It's down to lacklustre technology from Tesla.

    Look at what FSD they get in the USA - we're definitely second class citizens outside the US. I have FSD but it's not really any better than advanced autopilot in the UK - which is to say, great on motorways, not much else

    Very interesting; since i last watched your videos years back I've had a car with a comma ai self drive system fitted. It's interesting to see what the Tesla struggles with that mine excels at and vice versa. For example, comma's system will let you engage at any time and is really good at picking lanes at a split. However it does not do things like try and go past obstacles; just follows the lane ahead

    Again happy to seemore content from you :) Autopilot in UK is isn't FSD, no where near and you can't really compare it. You'd have thought govmnt policy would have progressed to roll out FSD in Uk, but nope. Anyhow, keep up the progress reports (or lack of) please and I really look forward to seeing full FSD content in due course.

    It tried to kill you at least twice and that's two times too many, so it's clearly not ready for full self drive yet. There is an interesting thing at 8:52 where there is a green traffic light and a red traffic light (for bikes) showing at the same time, but unfortunately because of the glare from the sun I couldn't see what the car was seeing, so I'm intrigued to know if that would have confused it or if it could work out which light it should be acting on.

      @@TeslaDriver Hopefully it does actually do something like send the footage to Tesla and show them what's gone on so they can fix it. That'd be mad compared to other car brands trying to compete with Tesla. Have you seen the Volvo EX30? I reckon they're copying Tesla with the screen as they've moved speed to the central screen and added visualisation, very similar to Teslas, to their screens as well.

    Next year is 2024. 2025 is the year after Just being picky lol. I know it is November 2023 now (as of the release of this video).
    I think you should hold on to the Tesla a little longer, but I would love to see how others perform, maybe even the cheaper cars like MG if you were interested.
    Telsa's decision to only use camera's and not use LIDAR or any sort of RADAR is really a big disadvantage I think. I feel the software could be so much more accurate and useful if they combined camera's with LIDAR or RADAR. If a small processor like a robot vaccum can do it, a larger computer and neural net should be able to handle it :)

    @Wol747 8 месяцев назад

    I don’t know what level you are on in the UK but at that roundabout where it objected IIRC you had manually indicated left which on a freeway would ask the autopilot to move into the slow lane - which of course didn’t exist.
    This throws up a bigger question: we can all watch RUclipsrs driving around in the States with different car models and different stages of software and it can get very difficult to keep in mind exactly what level our own vehicles are at.

    I don't understand how the regulations allow the driver to fiddle with a console, taking eyes off the road and hands off the steering wheel, and yet the cops can pull you over for eating a Mars Bar.... 🤔.

    • @TeslaDriver
      @TeslaDriver  8 месяцев назад

      You’ve been pulled over for eating a mars bar? Sounds unlikely… I don’t take ‘hands’ off the wheel it’s just the 1 like every other driver on the road as cars have always had controls in the center console that you have to touch and look at this is no different just on a screen 🤷🏽 I remember driving a BMW with an I drive wheel and that was so unintuitive it was way more of a distraction than this system

    The more complications that are added to Teslas, the worse they become. Please clarify that FSD is being blocked in Europe because it is dangerous. I cant use AP here in France because it randomly aborts or makes driving more dangerous.

    Elon Musk mentioned the final version of FSD would be approved in US before rolling out to the rest of the world. So not needing to keep tweaking in dozens of countries again and again. The AI version should accelerate the process and hopefully US FSD will be ready for regulatory approval in the next several months.

    Surprised you got it to slow down on a speed limit change.. I've heard that is possible but never seen it - AP will happily do 70 in a 40 round here (tested it once during covid so the roads were completely empty.. not allowed it to build up that kind of speed difference since). I wonder if it's certain roads.
    From my reading of what the government is saying they're following UNECE so we'd be waiting for the DCAS rules for any movement on FSD, which is looking at early 2025 as long as there are no more delays.

  • @steve_is_my_name

    I can't wait for FSD to be made available in the UK. This is just the autopilot on a FSD enabled car (like mine) so any really designed for motorway driving. Roll on UK government.... before 2025 remember!

    Perhaps I missed something. I thought that FSD Beta was only in the US and some significant time later (around April 2022), in Canada. In fact, Teslarati just had an article today (11/19/2023) about rolling out FSD Beta in Europe, Australia and China. So, I don't know what you think you have been testing but it is NOT FSD Beta.

    • @TeslaDriver

    I really don't understand why you are criticising fsd in the UK I thought I wasn't very clever but it's so obvious why it is what it is and quite simply it's because we need to wait for beta version like USA before it can do roundabouts overtake etc so be a bit clever instead of being stupid fsd 5 years ago in uk is the same today with uk restrictions in uk so be sensible and think no it can't do this tilfsd beta comes into uk dddeeerrr

      Struggling to understand this comment tbh... so when they push new updates I shouldn't test them? fsd 5 years ago couldn't do lights, stop signs, junction stops, visualisation (bins, cones, poles, lights, people, dogs, doors, vehicle type, road markings, warnings etc) - Saying be a bit clever instead of being stupid literally makes no sense here, or am I faded??
