Ive had these for a few years now. You don't have to re-pair after switching your camera off and back on again. But, if you only use it the next day or, change batteries, you have to re-pair. From a design point of view, it makes perfect sense. Is it a bit of a pain - yes, but the remote is the next best invention since the GoPro. The re-pairing issues were the same with my GoPro remotes. For the price, its great value.
Hi Larry Thanks for your review. I just got my remote. My remote does turn the camera on and off. And it also pairs automatically when I turn it on. Maybe I have a slightly newer model.
I have a gopro 9, when I switch the remote on it switches my camera on, when I switch the remote off it switches my camera off, only had to pair it once, works great.
Thanks for sharing bro! Initially I started watching your video as I was curious to whether this remote would work with the Hero 11. I can’t get the official go pro remote delivered to me at the moment, so I’m gonna go with this one. Apart from the issue of having to reconnect the remote each time, seems like it will do the trick for what I need!
Hello, Thank you for sharing this video. fro your information, I can switch it off/on from the remote directly. You just need to hold the button 3 seconds hope it helps
Hey Larry. Thx for your great review. I replaced (finally) my 4 for a 10 Black to film our motorcycle trips. This time I like to buy a remote as well. Does the use of a remote effects the duration of a batteryload very heavy? I start/stop the 4 during the ride with the topbutton. For my safety a remote looks better.... Greetings, Frank, Baarn (Netherlands).
I use remotes most of the time with my GoPros and have never really measured the run time connected to remote compared to not but, the convenience of the remote on my adventure and dirt bikes makes it worth it, even if I lose a few mins camera battery life. The remote is the next best invention since the action camera (GoPro).
I bought this remote after watching this video. My remote stays paired with my gopro 11, and I can power off/on camera with the remote as well. I have had 0 issues with this remote. I have not had to re pair this remote.
@@TodayIFeelLike Turn the camera off/on while using the remote. You should not have to re pair. Ive had this for 2 months now, and still have not had to re pair remote to camera
It should but I cannot guarantee it because I actually did not buy the 12 this year I still have my 11 and I didn't see much of an upgrade with the 12 over the 11 so I passed this year.
Hey, nice review. One question, do this remote work during timewrap shooting? Means in timewrap can you switch to normal speed with this remote and vice versa ?
It is rechargeable it does come with a charging cable that you can simply plug in and recharge it. I will say that the battery is very long-lasting I think I've only charged it once.
I have a unit and you don’t need to re-pair it every time you use it. Mine switches the GoPro on when I press the mode button. HOWEVER, I encounter issues when I pair a 2nd unit of GoPro. It gets confused as to which unit it is suppose to control and at times, power one up but not the other. No liking it for now. Will continue to play with it
Its a pain that u have to keep repairing it everytime that would do my head in so i wont be buying thos for that reason thanks for the video u have saved me some money there.
It is actually useless, why? Because when you switch the mode remotely, you can't read on your remote in which mode it currently is, and that could be very annoying when you're standing a few meters away from you GoPro. IMHO using your phone as a remote is a much better option.
Hold on. Hear me out here. For same day use, you don't have to re-pair it every time you switch it on and off. But, if your GoPro battery runs flat and you restart after swopping batteries, you have to re-pair but it goes very quick. If I had to design this system, I'd do the same, especially for people connecting multiple cameras. I've been using remotes for my GoPros since 2013 and the OEM GoPro or Telesin remotes are equally as fast/slow. I can't say the one is better than the other.
i've been using it for over 2 years with my present GoPro and my old GoPro Hero 10. Never had to repair in all that time, neither did my friends (2 of them). Not only that, but it also turns on the camera remotely. You obviously have a faulty remote or GoPro. Your giving bad publicity where it is not deserved. That's what I hate about RUclips - so called experts that aren't.
Hey Larry my take on the remote > if you want to get really, really, really, pissed off this remote will not disappoint...ask me how I know that shit, even you had a problem, lol, and as I scroll down the comments I am not the only one too...another made in China POS dud unit...my 16oz framing hammer is gonna fix the problem, I may put that on U-tube~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Larry, thank you. My remote turns the camera on and off, and doesn't need re-pairing. great vid

yes it connects automatically
Just bought both today in Vietnam and everything works like it should. None of the problems you had. Gary White
I think I received a bum unit cuz everybody comments that they don't have the same problem that I do so good for everyone else

It works with the MAX, not all features, it allows mw to switch to hero mode but not back to 360, but on off works and not having to pair every time.
I think the problem is with the newer GoPro cameras
Ordered this yesterday and I’m relieved after reading your comment 🥳 Hero9 ✊🏼

No I don't think it affects the battery much. I haven't noticed that is does.

Does the stop act as a pause or is the file over at that point?
I bought this remote after watching this video. My remote stays paired with my gopro 11, and I can power off/on camera with the remote as well. I have had 0 issues with this remote. I have not had to re pair this remote.
I will try mine again and see if I'm doing something wrong.

No I haven't

What's the max distance you can use it? I've heard its 80m but has somebody tested it?
This controller is good for insta 360 x3??
No this controller is for the GoPro
Hey, nice review.
One question, do this remote work during timewrap shooting? Means in timewrap can you switch to normal speed with this remote and vice versa ?
I don't know that's a good question I guess I should test and see. I'll have to try it another day it's raining today.
Well?
May i ask, is the remote chargeable or you have to change the battery?
It is rechargeable it does come with a charging cable that you can simply plug in and recharge it. I will say that the battery is very long-lasting I think I've only charged it once.
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible day.
Thanks Big Tim much appreciated.
Can you mark a highlight in the footage through the remote?
I think you can but I don't remember because that's not something that I personally do.
@TodayIFeelLike Thanks for replying regardless
No problem thanks again for watching and please subscribe.
For anyone curious, the mode button will add a Hilight
Thanks for the info.
Great review

You have better luck than I do because mine does not work that way.
Don’t know which is worse. The inconsistency in the product or the hope that it gives that it might work.
Hahaha 😂
how many meters that remote can operate?
Seems like when I had a GoPor Hero 4 Black i had similar issues. when it worked it was great but when it couldn't connect it was a pain.
Yeah I really want it to turn the device on from the remote and started paired.
Can it connect to hero 7?
That’s awesome to be able to use for hands free recording
Great review! Very helpful. Thanks.

How you turn off remote controller still on all the time?
Yeah mine stays connected after I turn it off and on
Mine stays paired and reconnects every time, I think you have a dud unit .............JB..
Yeah I think mine is a dud
I guess it only works perfectly with the hero 10
Yeah maybe they need to push an update out.

Using your phone is definitely another option no doubt.

Yea definitely not buying that remote
This remote is a burden
Bad design for charging. They should have a USB-C port for charging. The EU will jump all over designs like this in the near future.
The reason for the magnetic charge is because the unit is water "resistant"
