isn't that what happened in the fourth book? (it doesn't happen in the movie so technically it's not a spoiler but in the World Cup final Viktor Krum caught the snitch at that moment to avoid loosing higher than they already did)
It anylazies everyone. However in the book it is silent when it anylasies only shouts out the house name. Hermione says in later books that it contemplated putting here in Ravenclaw, Nevill said he asked it to go to huffelpuff but the hat convinced him to go to gryffindor.
Glad you started your journey into the Harry Potter world. The movies in this series get more adult as they progress and as the characters grow up. You won't be disappointed. Great reaction!
@@JakeReactsYT Yes that’s true. They got darker and more mature (especially after the second film) as the fans grew up reading the books and watching these films. That’s why they had such a profound effect on the generation that grew up with with this story. They aged as the characters aged.
The thing with the HP books and movies, is that they mature in complexity and content with the characters. So this one is the most innocent/straightforward and kids movie-esque because the characters are 11, they're in their first year, etc. But as they get older, and are introduced to the darker and more dangerous aspects of the world, the stories get darker and more complex too. But it maintains a throughline of lightheartedness.
"We got beat by cereal"...LOL I'm trying really hard not to laugh out loud as I listen to this at work, but this one made me do it. I have my headset in so no one knows why I'm laughing. :D
Wow, you are probably the first person I know who actually got it right that catching the snitch does not automatically mean to win but only ends the game and gives you a massive point gain without reading the books where it is explained in a lot more detail. It gives you a huge advantage, but if takes long enough to catch the snitch and the other team has enough points, you still can lose. You are very perceptive of small details and you catch on a lot more than most people do watching the movies for the first time without knowing the books. To explain the "protection" - Harry's mother Lily sacrificed herself for him, her love evoking powerful ancient protective magic so that "Volkswagen" (made me nearly choke by the way 🙂and Covid-test for the wand in the trolls nose was great too!) can't touch Harry directly. Btw the Harry Potter movies are NOT sequels - the main storyline spans all 7 books (or 8 movies). Each book for one year at Hogwarts and what happens during that year - it comes to a conclusion but the main story runs through all of them and there are clues from the very beginning which makes this saga so unique. And the fact the story, the children and the little actors grow to adulthood in front of you.
I was thinking the same! I have watched many reactors before and he is the only one who understood the point system of the game. I don't blame the rest though, the explanation in the film is not so clear.
Wow thank you!! That means a lot, i really try to pay close attention to detail. The most important things are often overlooked in life haha. Appreciate the kind words!
@@JakeReactsYT I meant it. Honestly you picked up so much - you even spotted Quirrel as a suspect and Petunias jealousy her sisters gift right away. Most of Rowling's characters are complex with flaws and strengths. Can't wait to see how much you will be able to figure out 😉 as the journey progress
Nicholas Flamel is the only real life historical person mentioned in the Harry Potter stories. Legend has it that he discovered the secret of the sorcerer's stone as he became quite wealthy almost overnight. His house still stands in Paris and is now a restaurant. Because of the popularity of the books and movies, they have created a Harry Potter menu for children.
@@Cinesta76I understand the title differences, but when talking about the actual historical person, he was associated with the Philosopher's Stone. There's no such thing as a Sorceror's Stone, in history.
They are allowed to choose an owl, toad, cat, or a rat for their mail. Owls are the most popular. Please don't forget to watch the post-credit scene in the next Harry Potter movie. It is the only Harry Potter movie that has one.
So glad to have found another reactor watching HP. One suggestion - turn on the subtitles/close captioning so you can still follow the dialog when speaking for your reactions. HP is very dialogue driven & something mentioned in passing in one movie becomes vital in another movie so it’s important to know what’s being said. Plus HP is full of Latin words & phrases & lots of unusual names so seeing the words helps the viewer follow the story. HP is designed to grow with the 3 main characters so the first movie is more childlike & each subsequent movie becomes more mature & darker in its themes. Harry must live with his Aunt Petunia for his own safety. Harry’s mother willingly sacrificed her own life to save her baby son & as Dumbledore mentioned, that left a lingering protection. Dumbledore used that to create a protective enchantment to keep Harry safe from Lord V & his followers. That enchantment requires that Harry live with a blood relative of his mother’s - her older sister, Petunia. As Dumbledore tells Harry in the book “As long as you can call home the place where your mother’s blood dwells you cannot be harmed.” So Harry has to return to the Dursley’s every summer for a few weeks to keep the enchantment in place. His aunt Petunia knows about it since Dumbledore told her what he had done in the letter he left with baby Harry. That’s why she took him into her home, despite being jealous of her sister. She knows by bringing Harry into her home she is keeping him safe. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of your HP reactions. It’s a wonderful series.
Important point: the entire series was planned as one long story arc, so watch for ongoing clues. First year; 11 year olds. Second year; 12 year olds. etc until 7th year. From 2nd - 6th years, details are lost because the books get too long for the movies.
Quidditch has 7 players in each team. 3 Chasers 2 Beaters 1 Keeper 1 Seeker The Chasers are in charge of scoring goals by catching the Quaffle balls and throwing them into one of 3 hoops at the other team's side of the field. Beaters are in charge of protecting their players from getting hit by the Blugger balls with wooden bat's. They are also in charge of hitting the opposing team with the bluggers by using their bats. The Keeper's job is to protect their team's hoops by not allowing the opposing team to score any goals by blocking the Quaffle and preventing it from getting through their hoops. The Seeker's job is to find the Snitch and catch it before the other team does. Once the Snitch is caught then the game ends. You Don't necessarily win when you catch the snitch. Yes, the snitch is 150 points and the game does end when the snitch is caught. But the team that catches the snitch can loose the game if the opposing team had already gained far more points prior to the snitch being caught. So it's important to score as many points as possible with the Quaffle and hoops before any seeker of any team catches the snitch causing the game to end. Unfortunately, they never show it in any of the Harry Potter movies (so this is not a spoiler to any future Potter movies) but in one of the books Harry witnesses a certain team loose a certain Quidditch match dispite that team's Seeker having caught the snitch. BTW, did you know that people became such a massive fan of the fictional sport of Quidditch that college students made it into a real world international sport that are played in real colleges all over the world. Players compete with broomstick between their legs and the snitch is a person (dressed in gold with a handkerchief tucked into his or her's belt) running around all over the place. The seeker has to catch the person playing as the snitch by grabbing onto the handkerchief and pulling it off the snitch's body. You can do a RUclips search and view a few matches played in different countries. I have seen 2 or 3 Quidditch matches in person back in the day. Tons of fun. If you ever want to know how Quidditch is played and it's fictional history the author of Harry Potter, JK Rowling also wrote other books for charities. One of them is called Quidditch Through the Ages and it is written as if it were one of Harry Potter's text books. 🧹📚
I like that you're noticing disparities. Kids brought up in wizard/witch households already have magic knowledge. Some, like Hermione and Harry, are from Muggle households and have to catch up. But - they also know how to use phones, computers and other things magic kids don't.
The reason most muggles don't see magic happening around them is sometimes attributed to protective spells having been places on objects or places so that regular none magical folks can't see or notice them. For example, Hogwarts is a massive castle located in the highlands of Scotland. But when muggles come across it they only see old ancient empty castle ruins. If muggles find themselves getting too close to it then suddenly the muggles will start to think they have someplace important they have to go to that they previously forgotten about. In rare other cases when a muggle happens to witness magic by mistake, the local wizarding government called The Ministry of Magic will come and magically erase that particular memory from the muggle's mind. Certain cases are allowed only to a certain extent, like in the case of a wizard or witch having been born from a muggle family or is being raised by a muggle family like Harry and the Dursleys for example. But even then the wizarding child is not allowed to perform magic even in front of their muggle family even though their muggle family members know about their relative being born a witch or wizard and that they attend Hogwarts. The Wizarding communities consider it vital that their existence remain a secret for their protection incase for example muggles decide to bring back the witch trials and start burning wizards at the stake again among many other reasons as well. 🏰🪄
I read somewhere that the chess consultant set up the endgame so Ron had a choice: sacrifice Harry, and mate the king himself. Or sacrifice himself, and let Harry win. The fact he never mentioned the former option to Harry shows he KNEW Harry would try to sacrifice himself. Granted, read on the internet. But sounds plausible! Also, in the book, the Trio just straight up replaced their pieces, so there was no horse to jump off of. Obviously a choice to keep it family friendly.
omggg i thought i knew and heard everything there is to know about HP. this theory you shared is so satisfying! i don't care if its not actually true, in my mind it is. thanks!
My daughter, who was a fan of the books before any of the movies were out, was so keen on making me care about these stories that she gave me a crash course. She read to me the entire second novel! It's one of my fondest memories of spending time with her! ;-] In fact, she liked the books so much that, in high school, she wrote her own novella based on them, for English class! It was not her native tongue... Today, she's a professional translator. ;-]
Your reaction was fantastic! I cannot wait for you to continue. The series gets better and better, however less wholesome so enjoy the earlier parts as much as you can. The story will become really dark and adult themed soon. And I'm already sure your going to be up there with my favourite HP reactors. I love when someone shows their emotions that means to me they are really genuine and invested. Potterheads like me love seeing tears: believe me we understand every single drop. Thank you for your vulnerability, it's greatly appreciated. This world is an escape for many of us therefore means a lot. I hope for COS video pop up soon on your channel. Thanks again!
Thank you for the kind words, and I did really feel some emotions in this one, which i really did NOT expect. But it was nice. And chamber of secrets will be up the weekend after this coming one. But it will be up on my patreon this week. Thanks for bein here!
Loved your reaction and how perceptive you are with details. You are dead on with Petunia. It's only explained in the last book I think but it isn't really explained in the movies. Also about Dudley's pigtail Hagrid gave him. In the books he tells Harry he meant to transform Dudley into a whole pig but he also says it wouldn't have made that much of a difference anyway ;D Harry is really rich. His father's side of the family was pretty wealthy and then Harry's grandpa quadrupled the family fortune with the development of sleekeazy's hair potion. I don't think there is much of a method for deciding which wand fits you. There are a few things that could point in the right direction. Hagrid for example had a pretty long wand because he is so big but on the other hand a short wand is often a sign for lacking in character. So it's basically just try and error. In the books Harry tried dozens if not hundreds of wands until he found the right one and Ollivander got happier the longer it took ;D The sorting hat does indeed judge your character. It was made by the founders of Hogwarts and has sortet all students since the founders couldn't do it themselves anymore. In the book he only says the result out loud the rest of the conversation only happens in the head of the kid wearing it. The first movies are pretty predictable if you watch them as an adult. Remember they were targeted to kids. They get crazier later on. Quidditch is a bit odd even in the books but the first explanation in the movie makes no sense. Lee Jordan, the commentator of the game gives the better explanation. The game ends when you catch the snitch, you don't automatically win. It gets you 150 points though, so often it does mean you win. But you are correct, if the other team leads with more than 150 points they win regardless The protection Harry has only helps against Voldemort not any bad wizard.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet for you. But Harry's mom sacrificing herself to save Harry provided a protection against Volkswagen so he can't touch Harry. Because he was part of the professor then the professor also could not have Harry touch him. Also it's easily overlooked but Ron playing that chess match is masterful because he has to play it knowing he can't risk the other two being taken so his strategy had to be near perfect. LOVE this series and hope you do as well!!
The music is what drew me in to watching Harry Potter initially. The world building is amazing. The buildings themselves all look so real like you can just step right into the movie and be "home."
Also, Ron can't just get off the horse - once he took the knight position, he had to follow the rules. The knight piece doesn't split in two during chess. Also, as he has entered a magical contract to be the knight piece, any damage done to 'the knight' is still felt by Ron, even if the sword isn't shown slicing directly into his 11 year old body (in a PG rated film for kids lol). That's why he screams before he hits the ground.
Just subscribed. Adult you " I wanna go there!" Now imagine being 10 or 11 and reading this book or seeing this movie for the first time. How magical ( pun intended) it would be. These grow up with the group they were written for. They will get more mature and...darker. Enjoy the journey.
@@JakeReactsYTAs a librarian and former teacher, it was wonderful to see kids who didn’t love reading embrace these books and eagerly await new books as they came out. Most branched out and found other stories they liked. Such a boon for reading!
When Hermione says expelled she literally means ex spelled. They would be kicked out of school and never allowed to use magic again for the rest of their lives. And with Quidditch, the snitch catch ends the game, but doesn't mean an automatic win to the catchers team. If team A has 160 points and team B has 0 but team B seeker catches the snitch, team A wins because they are ahead on points by 10 as the snitch is worth 150. Btw. You did great. I loved the reaction and can't wait for the rest of your HP journey. Any questions please ask and I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that we will try to answer in a way to avoid spoilers. Keep up the great work.

1:06:26 - This was one of the first scenes they recorded. Emma was 9. She had her 10th birthday on set and was the youngest in the main cast for the first few films. They recorded 8 films in 10 years.
I’m glad I discovered you. I’m an older woman and I started reading the books at the age of 40. I’ve never grown tired of them. I’ve never grown tired of the movies. I reread the books. I rewatch the movies. I’m looking forward to the television series. It’s supposed to be more book centric. There’s a lot they changed in the movies as you probably have guessed. There are a lot of videos online about the making of these movies that are very interesting. There is a interview kind of conversation wise with J. K. Rowling and Steve Kloves, who adapted several of the screenplays from the books. There’s also a great interview on RUclips with J. K. Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe. Enjoy all of these. I have found that the more I find, the more fun it is.
out of all the reactions that i've watched for this movie, you figured out that the little package was the sorcerers stone the fastest. also loving the hour + long reactions
As I'm obsessed with wands here's some wand lore for you 🙂 The wands are not a big deal really. They're important, yes, but not the main. Your magic comes from you, but not from your wand. A wand helps a wizard or a witch to direct magic and makes magic more comfortable to use for them. But especially talented or trained wizards or witches can produce spells without using their wands. So could Dumbledore, or Volkswagen, etc. Every wand is made from a different type of wood and contains a core wich is some powerful magical substance like phoenix feather, or dragon's heartstring, or unicorn hair. "the wand chooses the wizard". That's very important thing. Wands are kinda alive creatures in some way, they sort of have mind of their own and every wand has it's own personality depending of the materials what were used to make them. The wand learns along with it's owner, some wands can even 'die'.
I just wanted to drop a comment and let you know i think your reactions have all been good and personable. Nothing wrong with the first 2 and you dont need to warn ppl you talk too much in them. Keep up the good work!

Hey Jake, I just wanted to say thank you for your little part on mental health. When you’ve said that “even if it’s just one person, it is important.” I can relate to that. Welcome to the incrediblely wonderful rabbit hole of a ride called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Enjoy it well. 😊 This is the song that the Sorting Hat sings in the book version of Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone before he sorted the first year's students into their houses; "Oh you may not think I'm pretty, But don't judge on what you see, I'll eat myself if you can find A smarter hat than me. You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve, and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folks use any means To achieve their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And don't get in a flap! You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!" 🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄✨⚡🖤 BTW, I was sorted into Gryffindor and my brother was sorted into Slytherin in the Pottermore (now called Wizarding World) official website. The website was created by the Sony company and the author of the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling. I had to take a fun and special personality test to find out what house I am in. Go go Gryffindor! ❤💛❤🦁🏰🪄👍

Just found your channel, always happy to see another person reacting to Harry Potter. I was already a junior in high school when this movie came out. Which makes me feel old now, lol. Anyway, great reaction, and extra extra brownie points for knowing what Animorphs is. That was also one of my favorite book series/tv show when I was a kid.

“Oh like aiming a gun to his head” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 crying laughing. And your face when they showed hogwarts from the boats ❤❤❤❤ welcome to the club AND it only gets better from here
@@JakeReactsYT it’s so funny because it literally is an example of how absurd the reality would be of these stories. Flying brooms and death sticks given to 11 year olds for real 🤣 it’s amazing that more kids don’t actually die 😅
Hermione is muggle born (no wizards in her family, like harrys mom was) and while I think shes naturally clever and wants to learn all she can I think some of it comes from knowing Muggle borns are sometimes treated differently and looked down on by some so I think she overcompensates by trying to be the best at everything she can and just devours books and knowledge
Neville and Ron struggle at first because neither of them have wands that chose them. Neville is using his fathwr's wand. Ron has his older brother, Charlie's old wand. Once they get their own wands the do so much better.
You're the first reactor I had seen notice that the guy was standing behind Snape while he was chanting. It took several watches as a kid to notice him there. Snape had my full attention lol
Many of the places are real in the UK but it is filmed at a lot of locations: the lake is Loch Shield in Scotland, outside is Alnwick castle, interiors include Gloucester cathedral, but if you want the full experience then visit the studios in Watford (north of London) for the Harry Potter tour. You will meet creatures in the 3rd film (start of the 'adult' films) which represent depression. Note Christopher Columbus's daughter (Eleanor) is the red headed Hufflepuff in the 1st 2 films who sits next to Hermione (Susan Bones).
Quirrell provided the troll, being teacher of the Defence Against Dark Arts. Prof. Sprout provided the Devil's Snare, being Herbology teacher. Flitwick did the flying keys, being Charms teacher. Miss McG provided the chessboard, being Transfiguration teacher. Snapey Poo provided the potions test, being Potions teacher (it's not shown). Dumbledore put the Mirror of Erised barrier. And Hagrid provided Fluffy, of course.
A lot of Americans get "privet" mixed up. It is a plant that grows into a shrub but can get fairly tall. Calling a street Privet Drive is the same as calling a street here in North America Elm Street. Privet can be trimmed and shaped to make a nice hedge for privacy but that isn't what is usually meant.
True, I thought it meant private. But I've heard of a privet hedge, so it still sounds like a privacy hedge, standing in for a privacy wall. I heard somewhere privacy walls and hedges are more common in America.
@@glowormrdr6183 I am not an etymologist so who knows? The plants could easily have been named Privet way back in the middle ages because they formed hedges that gave privacy. I do know they were native to Europe and Asia and introduced to the New World in the 1800's (and are considered invasive in some areas).
Ohh...it is always a treat when you see yet another person getting soaked up into magical world. To answer your question about Quidditch (the sport). They did not explain it super well in the film. The small ball, called the golden snitch, is worth 150 points and catching it is what ends the game. Due to how many points it is worth, in many cases catching the snitch means victory for the team who caught it. However it is technically possible for the team that did NOT catch the snitch to win if they are far enough ahead in points when the snitch was caught.
@@sarahrosencrans2402 good explanation though! I believe there's also a data in the history of Quidditch book about the longest game of history because no one caught the snitch 😂 but i don't remember the exact information
This video is 4 months old but I will watch all of them! Thank you for reacting to HP, this is a series I have watched as an adult too. But loved it, regardless. Obsessed with this even 😂
_Privet drive_ "So.... like private, but-" But then Petunia moved in, yes Ha *haaaaaa* book jokes ...she likes to spy on her neighbors and judge them through her blinds
18:33 It's not a real castle. Keep in mind that Rowling lived in Edinburgh while writing this book. There is a castle in Edinburgh high on a cliff with a (dry) lake and a train station at its base. She had to have been partially inspired by Edinburgh Castle.
Harry Potter is such a huge part of my childhood and life in general, growing up reading and watching these movies was the best thing ever! 3rd one is my fav! Great video!! ❤ Hugs from Brasillll
I love how pretty much everyone I've watched react to HP always comes up with a random ass name for one of the characters, and 'Volkswagen' is up there with one of my favorites 😂 can't wait to see you react to the rest of the series!
@JakeReactsYT it's perfect haha and algoods, you're funny as hell, and I love a long HP reaction video. I'm just happy your video popped up as a suggestion lol
I'm so glad i found this reaction, can't resist a HP first time reaction but then i saw you have also done game of thrones and hunger games abd now LotR! I see myself binging your channel over the next few days 😂
It's great that you acknowledged the music. It acts as a character, in my opinion. Once you see the movies a couple of times, you could play the orchestral videos online and follow the story along with the music. If you can, I'd recommend you read the books. There's so much more info for you that will answer your questions (like the wonky scoring scheme of quiddich!).
I just found your channel today! I enjoy commentary during a reaction, some people don't but remember this is your channel. I am interested in watching your reaction. In the beginning no spoilers, Albus Dumbledore is concealing his presence from the muggles by temporarily taking their lights, they can't risk being seen at that point. Professor McGonagall can turn from a human to a cat. Philosopher's Stone and Sourcerer's stone, I was told the only difference there, is when they say Philosopher's stone UK movie, and for the USA, they say Sourcerer's Stone. They could have left it as Philosopher's Stone IMO. I'm glad you noticed that there are no pictures of Harry in their home, according to the Dursley's how would they explain who Harry is to other people without giving away his true nature? Yes, they are awful but his only living relatives and you are 100% correct, Petunia was jealous of her sister Lily's magical abilities. I would pick an owl, easy for letters and package deliveries without having to rely on muggle technology as all witches and wizards have in this world of HP. LOL you said Volkswagen! That was totally unexpected, and you made me laugh out loud there! Hagrid is a half Giant. Your suspicions about Quirrell and Snape surprised me but pleased me at the same time. The Chess game in the movie, Ron had to stay on the horse, in order to play a chess piece in the game, it happened differently in the book. That was a very good plot twist near the end, because when reading the book, I thought Snape was a bad guy until we learned that Snape was trying to save him all along. Harry, Ron and Hermione, Dumbledor, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape and the newly named villain, Volkswagen. Good one Jake! No expectations please, just watch to see what happens next! Ha! More plot twists ahead! I enjoyed your reaction video! Peace. ☮

You are correct, if your team is down by 160 points and your seeker catches the golden snitch, you lose the game straight away by 10 points.
isn't that what happened in the fourth book? (it doesn't happen in the movie so technically it's not a spoiler but in the World Cup final Viktor Krum caught the snitch at that moment to avoid loosing higher than they already did)
Gryffindor valued bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry.
Hufflepuff valued hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play.
Ravenclaw valued intelligence, knowledge, curiosity, creativity and wit.
Slytherin valued ambition, leadership, self-preservation, cunning and resourcefulness
Thanks for the info! ☺️
You're doing fantastic keep up the hard work and I'm glad to see you're keeping an open mind
It anylazies everyone. However in the book it is silent when it anylasies only shouts out the house name. Hermione says in later books that it contemplated putting here in Ravenclaw, Nevill said he asked it to go to huffelpuff but the hat convinced him to go to gryffindor.
“Volkswagen” made me laugh so hard 😂😂
harry potter and sorcerer's wheel
Harry Potter and the tampered exhaust gases ...
Harry Potter and the Volkswagen Bug. Sounds like a weird virus. 😂
I hadn’t gotten to this part yet, so I read it in Adam Sandler’s voice from Happy Gilmore! 😂😂
Glad you started your journey into the Harry Potter world. The movies in this series get more adult as they progress and as the characters grow up. You won't be disappointed. Great reaction!
Thank you!!!
@@JakeReactsYT Yes that’s true. They got darker and more mature (especially after the second film) as the fans grew up reading the books and watching these films. That’s why they had such a profound effect on the generation that grew up with with this story. They aged as the characters aged.
Hagrid asked Harry's parent's friends to send photos and made the album for Harry. As he knew Harry had no photos of theirs.
1:03:42 Dumbledore basically gave them back the 150 points they lost for being out after dark at Hagrid’s hut, plus a bit more.
Let's goooo! Always happy to find a new Potterverse reaction channel! Welcome to one of the best franchises in history. ❤
Happy you found me! Thanks for the warm welcome 😌
In the books, if i not mistaken, it's said that a quidditch match can last for months till someone catches the golden snitch.

The movie messed it up so badly when they said you catch it, we win.
@@JakeReactsYT Well you aren't called the best reaction channel on the internet for nothing. 😉
*Philosopher's Stone
@@Aeroldoth3It depends on where in the world you are. In America it's Sorcerer's Stone, in the rest of the world it's Philosopher's Stone.
@@Cinesta76I understand the title differences, but when talking about the actual historical person, he was associated with the Philosopher's Stone. There's no such thing as a Sorceror's Stone, in history.
@@Aeroldoth3 My bad. I was tired when I read the comments. Many apologies.
He had an orphanage and took in children.
You’re one of the most observant HP reactors I’ve seen! Def subscribing, can’t wait to see the rest of the series!
wow that means a lot thank you!!
They are allowed to choose an owl, toad, cat, or a rat for their mail. Owls are the most popular.
Please don't forget to watch the post-credit scene in the next Harry Potter movie. It is the only Harry Potter movie that has one.
Oh I’ll try to keep that in mind!! Thanks for letting me know
So glad to have found another reactor watching HP.
Give him a COVID test is such a vivid description of that scene that didn't exist when the movie was made 😂
Important point: the entire series was planned as one long story arc, so watch for ongoing clues. First year; 11 year olds. Second year; 12 year olds. etc until 7th year. From 2nd - 6th years, details are lost because the books get too long for the movies.
Quidditch has 7 players in each team.
3 Chasers
2 Beaters
1 Keeper
1 Seeker
The Chasers are in charge of scoring goals by catching the Quaffle balls and throwing them into one of 3 hoops at the other team's side of the field.
🧹📚
There's a video out there of skydivers...with brooms and quaffles...playing Quiditch before they have to open their parachutes, I kid you not!
It's one of my fondest memories of spending time with her! ;-]
In fact, she liked the books so much that, in high school, she wrote her own novella based on them, for English class! It was not her native tongue... Today, she's a professional translator. ;-]
wow that's amazing! Thank you for sharing :)

Your reaction was fantastic! I cannot wait for you to continue. The series gets better and better, however less wholesome so enjoy the earlier parts as much as you can. The story will become really dark and adult themed soon. And I'm already sure your going to be up there with my favourite HP reactors. @@JakeReactsYT that's great! Thank YOU 🙏 😊
Harry Potter was supposed to be set in the 90's so that is why the style looks that way.
huh that's interesting! Love the throwback lol
Only with Voldemort his skin/touch burns him. Harry’s skin/touch won’t burn anyone else. Just Voldemort. 😊
Loved your reaction and how perceptive you are with details. You are dead on with Petunia. It's only explained in the last book I think but it isn't really explained in the movies.
Also about Dudley's pigtail Hagrid gave him. In the books he tells Harry he meant to transform Dudley into a whole pig but he also says it wouldn't have made that much of a difference anyway ;D
Harry is really rich.
In the books Harry tried dozens if not hundreds of wands until he found the right one and Ollivander got happier the longer it took ;D
The sorting hat does indeed judge your character.
But you are correct, if the other team leads with more than 150 points they win regardless
The protection Harry has only helps against Voldemort not any bad wizard.
I think everywhere except in the US, the movie was called the Philosopher's Stone.
The music is what drew me in to watching Harry Potter initially. The world building is amazing. The buildings themselves all look so real like you can just step right into the movie and be "home."
22:57-"...I can't remember what I've forgotten!"
Me-"um...Neville, your cloak....." *sigh* "Nevermind."
Calling Voldemort Volkswagen was hysterical. And so was referring to Hufflepuff as cereal. You actually made me LOL.
Enjoy the journey.
yeah i cannot imagine how excited kids would be with this whole story!
@@JakeReactsYTAs a librarian and former teacher, it was wonderful to see kids who didn’t love reading embrace these books and eagerly await new books as they came out. Most branched out and found other stories they liked. Such a boon for reading!

Welcome to the Potterverse! Unlike other series, this one keeps getting better and better as the kids grow up. I hope you enjoy this series.
Already enjoying it! I hope you stick around with me till the end of it ☺️
Or sure! 😊
As I'm obsessed with wands here's some wand lore for you 🙂
The wands are not a big deal really.

Welcome to the incrediblely wonderful rabbit hole of a ride called the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Enjoy it well. 😊
This is the song that the Sorting Hat sings in the book version of Sorcerer's Stone/Philosopher's Stone before he sorted the first year's students into their houses;
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"

Following your journey will be interesting to follow, you already show great promise of understanding how these things will work. These movies and books originally appeared one in each year...so we audience grew up at the same pace as the actors did. It was always looooong wait with excitement until next instalment would come up. We had long ride with Potter and the friends, but it was well worth it and now I get to to live the excitement again with all you starry eyed reactioners. I'm already looking forward for the next film with you...hurry up!
Sorceror's Stone = US version
Philosopher's Stone = UK and other countries' verson
I'm here for Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. The Airbender anime seems to be popular, but I haven't seen it. I'd love to see your reactions to The Truman Show, Sixth Sense, and the TV show, Friends.
I just found your channel, I love how you just started and your videos are already great haha, Good luck, with all these great shows and franchises it will grow for sure, people love to find new Harry Potter, Game Of Thrones, and Hunger Games reactors
* 150 points
@@timimaksai8081 yes, 150. typo
@@sarahrosencrans2402 good explanation though! I believe there's also a data in the history of Quidditch book about the longest game of history because no one caught the snitch 😂 but i don't remember the exact information
yeah its very interesting how it works but was not explained well at all in the movie. I had a feeling there was more to it lol
This video is 4 months old but I will watch all of them! Thank you for reacting to HP, this is a series I have watched as an adult too. But loved it, regardless. Obsessed with this even 😂
_Privet drive_
"So.... like private, but-"
But then Petunia moved in, yes
Ha *haaaaaa* book jokes
...she likes to spy on her neighbors and judge them through her blinds
the way this man fell for the snape is the bad guy trap is classic
18:33 It's not a real castle. Keep in mind that Rowling lived in Edinburgh while writing this book. There is a castle in Edinburgh high on a cliff with a (dry) lake and a train station at its base. She had to have been partially inspired by Edinburgh Castle.
Harry Potter is such a huge part of my childhood and life in general, growing up reading and watching these movies was the best thing ever! 3rd one is my fav! Great video!! ❤
Hugs from Brasillll
I love how pretty much everyone I've watched react to HP always comes up with a random ass name for one of the characters, and 'Volkswagen' is up there with one of my favorites 😂 can't wait to see you react to the rest of the series!
First thing that popped in my head hahaha. Thanks for bein here!
You can basically go there if you go to universal studios
Ferrero Rocher! Brilliant! That made me literally laugh out loud 😅
I'm so here for the next reaction videos
love that!
you came up in my recommended list yesterday and your witty commentary won me over xD
SUPPERRRR excited for your Harry Potter journey!!!!
haha me too! And thank you!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on mental health. I'm there with you ❤
It's great that you acknowledged the music.
Peace. ☮
Great reaction Jake... the movies get darker and better as they go IMO. Keep it up!
