As a sex worker I went to police after being harrassed by a scary person in my personal life who sent me anonymous violent text threats. I was scared to go for obvious reasons and doubted they would take me seriously. They were typical cops let me tell you. They investigated and charged them. They also told me I better get a restraining order which I did. On the other hand street cops have been jerks. Detectives are often different.

Uh... not true. It depends on the situation, the person, how they are dealing with the situation and the cops. As a sex worker I went to police after being harrassed by a scary person in my personal life who sent me anonymous violent text threats. I was scared to go for obvious reasons and doubted they would take me seriously. They were typical cops let me tell you. They investigated and charged them. They also told me I better get a restraining order which I did. On the other hand street cops have been jerks. Detectives are often different.
