How does this not have a million views by now?! After seeing this I'm gonna build a guitar that utilizes this system. I'll probably use a Warmoth body and neck. I can't wait to do this!!!
WOW!!! Not only is the Ghost system great but Burr did an amazing job of demonstrating it. I am more than impressed with not only the Ghost but all of your products. Nice job, well done GT.
Our entire system streets for under $400, and is also available piece-by-piece at depending on your needs. Many end users install this themselves, but a capable tech / luthier could if required. For more information check out our web site for all ghost possiblilities
Does anyone have any idea what you can actually plug a Hexpander into that's still being made? The Axon AX-50 is discontinued, as is the AX-100, the Roland GI-20, the GR-20, the Yahama G50.. I cannot for the life of me find anything. I've got a regular ol' MIDI interface for plugging keyboards and whatnot into but I have no idea if that would work.
the splinting of midi zones onto different strings, group of strings, place where you pick the strings, is that a feature of Axon or is that something else?
The ghost system has many possiblilties, all of which will vary the price point. The basic Hexpander retails for only 189.00 and "streets" for less. But yes, you will need to locate a third party synth-to-pitch converter. As well as piezo saddles/bridge assemblies depending on your instrument. The Acousti-Phonic is cheaper still. So how expensive really depends on the needs of the individual.
It's a Hagstrom prototype but unfortunately isn't available, at least not yet. But the GHOST system is available on guitars from Godin and Carvin- both make EXCELLENT guitars for very reasonable prices. You can also get the GHOST pickup system installed in your guitar for a few hundred dollars. Keep in mind tho, that's only the pickup system and not the actual synth that produces the array of sounds in the video. You need a guitar, a midi pickup, AND a synth to access all these great sounds.
Awesome demo . . What is the system latency? I would guess that it must be greater than 12ms? i.e 1"/82Hz for lowest string - is each string different?
that was AWESOME!! so i have a seven string with EMG active pickups... would i be able to get the acoustiphonic and MIDI stuff put in it? how much would it cost as well, like with the AXON thing as well as the two separate kits? i have a video up of the guitar im talking about on my channel or whatever it's called. the guitar im talking about is my Agile Interceptor Pro 727, and again... AWESOME VIDEO!! if i wasnt already subscribed id do it again in a heart beat
I'm late to the party as usual but this device is pretty unbelievable & since I Am so very late I imagine they've added lots more "STUFF" to this idea? Had an accident that took my ability away but I like this...... does anyone know of other similar stuff out there now? peace all
@gibsoneer321 thats a custom built hagstrom. ive seen quality luthiers like ran integrate a piezo system in the guitar so you wouldnt need that hunk of a pickup on your top. Dont ask me for a price, though
$400? Have I misunderstood somewhere? The Acousti-Phonic + Hexpander is $419.95, plus a Ghost-loaded bridge ($193.95), plus an Axon AX-50 ($4-500).. so more like $1000+ :S I want it like absolute crazy, but.. yeah.
@gibsoneer321 Only way to get the Ghost 'built it' is buying a custom guitar. Or you can contact Graph Tech for a kit then have a local luthier install it
Although there are many smaller builders that "factory-load" their instruments with our ghost system, the only big company is Carvin. But check out Parker for the Acousti-Phonic, or the Godin Freeway SA for the Hexpander.
Great! What midi system does he use? I use a GR-55 with GK-3 but would like to give your system a try. Problem is the tracking for some instruments like piano, does not work very for me ...
Fantastic review and playing technique. I have seen the best studio players, being born & raised in L.A. (My dad was a producer) You are as great as they were back in their day. Only they did not have the gear you have access to. You have it down as well as guys like Jay Gradon. If you do not know who he is Google him. He said no to Barbara Streisand one day, As he thought it would be more fun to record some leads on our stuff. He is a triple scale union player.. You can hear him on Steely Dan records and tons more.
@gibsoneer321 It depends if you want to spend the extra money. guitars with piezo like that built in usually cost an UN-GODLY amount of money. But it is worth it.
That's the most impressive use of MIDI on a guitar I've ever seen!
Burr Johnson just made the badassest demo ever
That is just sic...
Graphtech and Axon have outdone the competition with this setup...

why isn't this used more!??
Amazing system....
And very talented guitarist too!

Great demonstration
I just laughed and kept saying "what!?" to myself
I would love to see Tim Pierce play with this!
If I buy one, do I get this guy in the box as well?
What kind of guitar? Thats really nice
Is it possible to use Graph Tech together with Roland GR55, GK3 cable and pickup, mixing both worlds?
the splinting of midi zones onto different strings, group of strings, place where you pick the strings, is that a feature of Axon or is that something else?
This opens up new possibilities
Looks like an awesome system

Thank you very much David Dunwoody
Now THAT'S innovation!!
met him in london years ago, i played that guitar!
how does it do when you bend?
No, my understanding is that the guitar is a customer-made Hagstrom.
It's a Hagstrom prototype but unfortunately isn't available, at least not yet. Awesome guitar,
I would really like to get one of these systems. Just awesome. Are there any guitars available to buy already setup?

I met this guy in London :)
Love that Hagstrom!!!!!!
what package is he using?? is it the complete kit for guitar: ACOUSTI-PHONIC + HEXPANDER only?? or he added more things to the guitar?
That was insane! Wow! What a display of chops! Good grief!
Wow! How about one for bass players like me?
Is it true that Terratec is going or out of business now?
@gibsoneer321 Only way to get the Ghost 'built it' is buying a custom guitar. Or you can contact Graph Tech for a kit then have a local luthier install it
dont the schaller piezo.bridgees have these saddles?
holy frickin crap that is awesome.
Burr Johnson signature Hagstrom Guitar, built-in ghost system. No clue on price
Hagstrom headstock? What's that guitar, custom made?
so you can just let this be build in to you own guitar?
how much does this cost??
5:00 how? How does it even know where you're playing the string?
Although there are many smaller builders that "factory-load" their instruments with our ghost system, the only big company is Carvin.

Throw in a looper and there's nothing you can't do. Amazing.

What guitar is that?
This is Burr`s Hagstrom signature guitar
sooooooo awesome!!!!
has this een removed??
@gibsoneer321 dude, its REALLY easy to install.
Sold!

Now, if a graph tech can be assigned to each fret.... get more closer to Synthaxe design, which still is the ultimate....
@gibsoneer321

just realized how elementary my guitar playing is....where did you study
@gibsoneer321 Its the Burr Johnson Signature Hagstrom ( Just google Burr Johnson's guitar :P )

Is all thanks to the axon people
WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!?!
Wawww
Yup...guitar is easier to me than press the piano keys in while making midi loop...hoshhh...can you give me that guitar (free)..wahahahah
this makes the gibson firebird x a pathetic joke.
