I think a lot of folks don't think about side effects as much when they see what they are taking is helping with the issue at hand. In general we tend to get tunnel vision to what is happening at the moment, especially if there is a lot of pain involved. This video was very enlightening.

Great info! I've been taking Naproxen sodium for over 10 years to help control the arthritis in my joints, mostly knees and ankles. I have Crohn's disease and ending up getting colon cancer. Now my family doctor wants me to get off the NSAID, so next week I've got an appointment with a orthopedic surgeon to see about what can be done to fix my chronic pain in my knees and ankles. This surgeon I'm seeing did repair a torn meniscus in my right knee 5 years ago. Might be time to fix the other knee and maybe new knee down the road!
Very time full info! Things can get very complicated as we get older, have to understand how one condition can affect other parts of your body.
Love all of your videos, you come a long way. Keep up the great work. Love anyone who's last name has a Z in it!

What is fungus of the throat? And how do you get rid of it? What causes it? What happens if you don’t have it taken care of and how do you get it taken care of?

    • @TalkingWithDocs

Hi Isadora. The most common fungus would be candida. There are other more rare ones. You would need to be properly assessed by your family doctor. Best of luck. Thanks for watching and subscribing

Thanks for info but I am relegated to Tylenol and worry about liver damage! Tylenol doesn't help much for arthritis. Exercises help just as much. So what to do? Can I just go off Tylenol and just exercise and see what happens? I have been on Tylenol for a long time so do I stop gradually or must see my GP? Good to see the gastroenterologist again! Same here. I have severe osteoarthritis in my hands (a lifetime of crafting perhaps). My Rheumatologist had me start 1,000 mg of turmeric capsules 2x a day which I did a couple of years ago. I didn’t think they were doing anything until I completely ran out and supply chain issues and oooo-boy, I REALLY noticed a jump in my pain levels! Now, I’m back on it and bought an entire year’s worth and every time I use up a bottle, I replace one bottle.

You folks are excellent communicators. Thanks for your time and skills offered here on this channel. Here in Australia we have a wonderful radio programme, also available as an amazingly popular podcast throughout the world, called The Health Report. It's broadcast on the national broadcaster here - the ABC. I mention it only because you or your followers might be interested for whatever reason. THR has been on air for many years - researchers from all over the world are interviewed. It's run by Doctor Norman Swan, a brilliant guy who was offered the top job at the ABC, but he turned it down to stay with The Health Report. He's a national treasure IMHO, he ran a daily Covid podcast for 2 years to keep everybody informed.

Good evening to my north of the border RUclips docs. I miss my NSAIDS I Look @ my Celebrex bottle and say remember the good old days . Then put it back in the cabinet and get the arthritis strength Tylenol out. I have found out you have to be careful taking over the counter meds because some will interact with your prescription meds. You should always ask your pharmacist & read the brochures you get with your meds. Better to be safe then sorry. Thank you for having Dr. Naveen on . like you'll pics for guest docs . 8:45 Dr Arya says topical nsaid have less side effects but are less effective for pain relief of osteoarthritic joints. Is this true? Let's assume mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the knee. I would think that applying the topical directly to the painful knee joint would be as effective, if not more so, than taking pills.

I took Naproxen half a dose daily for over 8 years. Prescribed by my GP. Then I had a small bowel blockage which hospitalised me for a week and was "Conservatively treated". About 2 years later I had another small bowel blockage which hospitalised me for a week and was "Conservatively treated". In between and after I had multiple small bowel blockage which cleared whilst traveling to A&E or waiting for the GP to phone back. The last small bowel blockage was a year last march. After a hernia repair.
A year last December a GP phones me up and in no uncertain words tells me to stop taking Naproxen. The following day my abdomen felt so relaxed. The next day my neck locks up solid. Three weeks later mid morning with no warning I get out of my chair to take the dog for a walk and my knees will not bend.
I move my neck following RUclips physiotherapy video suggestions. Then months later going to the Gym just about resolves my neck issues.
My left knee I manage to bend after 5 hours of Physio and heat pads.
My right knee takes 5/6 days.
Still in a lot of pain and my GP being useless. Last August I consult a Private knee specialist who states I need two new knees.
My GP who prescribed the Naproxen still states there is nothing wrong with my knees!! Needless to say I changed my GP.
Last March I had my left knee replaced.

So the cows were hemorrhaging to death, bleeding from their eyes as it, the hay was laced with rat poison, finally a favorite cow died, farmer brought its carcass to the lab and told the scientist that he wasn't coming out until he discovered what had killed his cow 🐄, you're welcome! 🐈🐾🙃🤳

I remembered I would be taking so much advil back in 1999 till 2018 from my knee to carpel tunnel then on tylenol now for my gastric bypass surgery. Which my orthopedic doctor asked how much advil I was taking back then and I told him 2300 MG and he said that it can upset your stomach and give u ulcers. I told him that I don't have any problems at all. He was shocked by my response. When I had my gastric surgery I asked the doctor that did it he said you had no ulcers and your stomach was very good when he removed the sleeve. I was wondering about that all this time. I had no problems from taking advil back then every day 2300 MG.

I don't know if it is from the Lupus, Provastatin or riding my bike, certainly if I walk 2 miles or more. I stretch in the morning, then I feel okay, but sometimes my legs are just stiff. I also have bursitis in my knee. I have been lucky, so far. But I will watch and lessen any Advil or Tylenol. Last 2 months I have had a pain in my stomach twice like you said, just an ache, I'll keep an eye on it. Tnx

I have NAFLD and I also have a severe allergy to paracetamol. It was diagnosed accidentally when I became very jaundiced so the doctor took blood which showed I had drug induced hepatitis. I had been prescribed paracetamol for pain after I broke my back and I never took the full amount of the prescription because I hate to take drugs. I think having the hepatitis caused my NAFLD. I have been trying natural medicine to try to fix it.

It can be related to naproxen. Best to stop taking it and if the pain continues see your doctor. Hope it’s ok. Thanks for watching and subscribing

I had the upper GI testing done and they found 5 ulcers😐, now, a year later they are all healed but my stomach is still inflamed. I don't take omeprazole anymore either as that has caused small polyps. I don't have h pylori or cancer. I give up trying to "calm" my stomach. I have quit drinking coffee and eat a much more healthy diet😊

You should see another Dr and follow up on it. You could have Barrett’s develop or could have a gastrinoma that produces too much gastrin somewhere else in your digestive tract or pancreas. Drinking cabbage juice can help heal it.

I was taking 81mg aspirin daily but then an array of acidic foods and drinks led to esophagus issues. Getting it scoped soon but had to give up coffee etc and on ppi.
Taking the aspirin before bed allowing it to not dissolve in the stomach didn't do the trick but not entirely sure if the aspirin was the cause. Drinking 1-2l of seltzer a day might have. It's getting better though!

Interesting. My GP has done a bit extra blood tests during my 3 month blood work. One of them is H Pylori which apparently came back inconclusive. I have to redo it. I don’t have ulcers in my stomach nor esophagus. I guess he just wants to rule everything out with me being a senior citizen.

It also said friability of the stomach and I’m wondering if that can happen from taking Advil or if it could be more serious than that. He took 3 biopsies and I haven’t heard back yet. It didn’t say ulcers just stigmata and erosions and granularity. The pictures are not very high resolution. One of them there is what looks like the bottom of my stomach and it looks like a rose with frayed petals idk if that’s normal but that is a scary pic. All of them were a bright orange red- no flesh colored parts.

I had an upper gi a couple weeks ago and it said stigmata and evidence of recent bleeding. The dr said he would discuss at our next appointment.
Idk if it’s normal or if it’s because I’m in a small town but now I have been wondering this whole time. I think dr.s should have a nurse who is educated enough to discuss the findings with the partients. Is this a new thing to just line the patients up and do 10-20 of them and discuss weeks later? It seems wrong not to know anything.
I called over there a couple times but all they say is we will see you at your appointment but said they would call me- which they haven’t. I was just left with the statement if you get a fever or start bleeding then go to the emergency room. What if someone starts bleeding when they are asleep? Then they don’t make it I guess. I would have been a lot happier if they could have glued my stomach together while they were in there or whatever is usually done for ulcers. There should be some kind of standard or care so people aren’t left hanging like that.

Hi Buzz. It’s not ideal but if they were concerned about an imminent bleed your post op treatment would have been different and followup sooner. Hope you get the answers you’re looking for
