Kevin, I have watched you for quite a few years now. I have watched you come from your Bob Ross style to a style of your very own. I noticed you are using a lot of different brushes now and they are helping you in developing your own style. Please keep this up because your paintings are starting to look like the old masters paintings and believe me that is a compliment. Be yourself and keep painting. Beautiful work!!
WOW!!!! you are GREAT! Just AMAZING! I am a fine artist too, and find I get 'frozen' and hindered by my contantly thinking, "it can be even better, no do this section again'.. and you just flow with painting the whole painting! That is my new philosophy! thanks! Kim
Very beautiful. Misty soft background paired with detailed brighter foreground, very appealing. Your growth as an artist is amazing. I love how you are open for new techniques and make them your own.
Simply amazing! I have been following your artwork for a long time and I love watching your style and technique develop and these videos are very helpful, thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge!
Another fav...love this one...what a scene...please DVD...this reminds me of Bierstadt...your amazing. Love your passion and commentary...thanks for all the tips...this would be so beautiful in a gold frame....pleez consider a DVD.
Hi Kevin, you are so creative and magnificent in your paintings ,I have become a great fan of you ,I love to paint all your paintings, thank you very much
Please do a DVD of this one...I wish you would have more DVDs of your paintings. This is my fav of all your works. Very nice, reminds me of Bierstadts work. Thanks for sharing. I hope you will do a xams church nocturine scene this yr.
hey Kevin,m a huge admirer of ur paintings, learning a lot, just one thng, how r u not using any water substances in ur work,cn u explain dt,m confused nd unclear about it?🤔
I have been watching a lot of your videos, I really enjoy them. I have been painting on and off since 2003, I have a lot to learn from you. Did you add thinner or a medium to the trees for the misty effect?
Hi Kevin, was browsing when I happened to come across your video, are you in anyway related to Mr Tom Hill? I grew up in Zambia where Mr Hill was a well known artist.
KEVIN, Adimiro muito o seu trabalho, e já aprendi bastante só olhando os seus vídeos. Poderia gravar também, traduzido no idioma em português?...Seria o Máximo!..Obrigado!!
Hi Kevin. I was just wondering...I know you use the gambling clear gel to create you background sky sometimes...what other mediums do you use in you paintings? Also which would you recommend for a new oil painter like myself?
If you were looking for something with a thicker texture like a gel, but that dries fast, check out alkyd or galkyd. There's also straight linseed oil if you want more slip. I think that Gamblin has their versions of both of those if you wanted to stick with that brand.
Jetzabell Juarez hi, as far as the medium...stick with Kevin's method the Gamblin gel...don't use linseed oil on your bottom layers...this will cause cracking...linseed is "oil," when painting in oils...you must have the underpainting "lean," which means no oil mediums...Kevin uses the Solvent free gel...which is an alkyld base medium...this just means it speeds the drying time...also...he uses it for the sky and water areas as it helps with the application of the paint...and blending ....I think if your serious and really want to take your painting further...and have success....having Kevin's products are the best way to go.. as you can see in his results...his works are amazing...I started out yrs ago when Kevin first started....and have watched his videos...really listen to his dialogue...he gives very good information...also the beginner DVDs...along with his technique series will help you...Kevin paints with no medium throughout the painting...if you need to thin the oils for branches or whatever...use Liquin for fine detail...hope this helps...
l just apply a coat of white oil and let it dry for 3 or 4 days. Works nicely allowing your top coat to dry as well. This method was used by the old master painters. i
His layers are thin initially, following the fat over lean principle. This looks wet on wet unless a drying medium or agent is used and the video stopped and started to let each layer dry. Then the more fat layers are placed one after another until the painting is done. Lean are typically made with a solvent and some colors are lean straight from the tube. Fat layers are with the addition of an oil base like linseed, walnut, safflower or poppy oil. Some are available with a siccative (drying) agent added so you don't have to wait so long for each layer to dry if you like to paint that way instead of wet on wet.
Thank you so much for your support! For this painting, I am using oil paint. However, here is a link to the acrylic paint that I use: paintwithkevin.com/acrylic-paint-for-sale.html

Thank you. This has been very helpful. I do not have the gel but as I do have galkyd and a liquid so I will use those for a base if needed.

Hi Kevin, Patrick here, do you allow each layer to dry before you paint the next or do you use the wet on wet system
