Well thank you! I’m glad you are enjoying it! Yeah I’d love to be able to camp up there. I wish they’d allow it. There’s plenty of space to put a backcountry campsite. I wonder if they’ve thought about it before…
I have just come from Big Bend .. I would argue that the beauty of this place rivals anything. It’s absolutely vast, and the way the mountains rise out of the desert is amazing. This place is deeply spiritual to me
Amazing shots! Oh LMT here I come! I am heading to BB tomorrow for the second time yet there is so much beauty left for me to cover that I am already planning my third visit watching your videos! Never knew South Rim Trail had views for days!
@@TheNotLostNomad It was amazing as we lucked out with overcast conditions and a cloud cover for the LMT trail! Camped at chisos basin and did a lot of exploration!. Emory peak & South Rim are on the menu for the next BB trip! Maybe December/Juanary... what do you think?
I’m glad it went well! And as for south rim and Emory….yes! It’s going to be cold camping up there, just be prepared for it. My coldest night ever was up at the Southwest 4 campsite.
Appreciate your channel- one of the “OG’s” of the texas backpacking RUclips content creators. Thanks for the time and effort. The west texas range and basin is a true gem. Can’t wait until Chinati mountains state park opens!
Wow, I appreciate that! I'm glad to know it's being watched! and what?! I didn't realize it was becoming a state park...thats awesome! I hope they develop some trails there...from the pics it looks beautiful! Is there an official date?
hopefully it’ll suit the more advanced backpackers. Outside of GMNP and BIBE id say the best texas state park for backpacking is BBRSP especially the rancherias loop at BBRSP. Caprock, lost maples and Davis mountains are cool but more for the beginner type
Thank you! Yeah, it's always a good go to for sure. I don't enjoy those switchbacks though...I swear it seems like this trail climbs more than they say it does.
@@TheNotLostNomad what? Switchbacks are a Godsend! Else we'd be climbing steeper mountains! As an Appalachian Trail backpacker, trust me. Haha! And I still say you should be making videos for National Geographic. Seriously, you should contact Nat Geo TV. You are that good. You are a pro.
Well thank you! Maybe one day these videos will gain some traction… some times it seems like it’s crickets…especially with Texas hiking. Meanwhile I’ll take just being able to enjoy these places and I love making the videos. It always helps knowing that they are being watched!
Thank you! Yeah the LMT hasn’t been my favorite trail…but doing it like this has made me care for it more. Enjoying it without a crowd is definitely a plus!
Awesome videos!! What shoes are you wearing? I'm wondering if they provide any type of ankle support? Unfortunately, i need that ankle support!! Thanks for these awesome videos!! Love the BB!!
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying them! I’ve been wearing Altra Lone Peaks for about 4 years now. They are low shoes so probably not the best if you need that support. But I can tell you that for myself…they’ve changed my world. I immediately doubled my daily mileage…now it’s no big deal to pull off 16+ miles in a day. I don’t deal with blisters anymore…and the “no drop” soles ( meaning that the heal is not higher than the toes like most shoes) has developed my calves tremendously to make me stronger on the trail. For me, the Altas work great! Thanks again for watching!
By my best guess, just about the only hike remaining for you at Big Bend is the Outer Mountain Loop. When are we going to see that video? 😀 (It’s an awesome hike!)
haha! you called me out! I have had the OML on my list several times now...even had permits in hand multiple times and it seems like either weather or life has always changed my plans. I was supposed to hike it in March this year...but I just couldn't swing it. Have you done it before? it looks like an amazing loop.
@@TheNotLostNomad I’ve done it twice. Our chosen route: Laguna Meadows > S Rim > Boot Canyon > Juniper Canyon > Dodson > Blue Creek > Laguna Meadows > car. It was awesome both times. And now I look forward to your video!
Nice! I really need a 4x4 vehicle… my big red does ok but I get nervous heading out on these backroads. I’ll hopefully get this loop knocked out this fall… I guess we will see!
Incredible views, man!
I'll get you up there soon man!
It has been many years since I have been on The Lost Mine Trail. I'll get back out there eventually
I always wanted to do that trek. Maybe someday.
Yeah it had been a while since i had been up there too...that climb always seems more than what they say it is!
It's definitely worth the effort! hopefully you can make it out there!
@@TheNotLostNomad hopefully
Awesome views, great channel. I thought you would stay overnight watch the night sky and head on down in the morning 🌄, happy trails 👣 🏕

An awesome thing to have such an amazing trail all to yourself... Except for us! Thanks for the hike. Beautiful video.
Thank you! yeah it is always eerie to be alone...but it is a special feeling to have it to yourself! I appreciate you watching!
Another great hiking adventure. Done that one several times when younger. Glad you are enjoying Big Bend, a truly remarkable destination ...
It really is! Big Bend will always be a special place to me! I appreciate you watching!
The sunset colors are beautiful, and being alone on a very popular hike is so great. It's happened to us only a few times. Thanks for sharing.
It really is! You guys have been out on some great trails lately! I know you know the feeling!
This was just amazing! Shots are amazing my friend!
Thanks a lot! This one was easy to shoot...that sunset did all the work for me!

I agree wholeheartedly! Big Bend is where I fell in love with outdoor adventure. Glad you were able to get out there to enjoy it!

I need to check out the franklins. Looking at the map it looks like you could get in a good 2 night 3 day or even possibly longer backpack
Love the LMT, not too hard or long but great views. Great video, as always!
