Well done Toby. It's a great way to give the fans another perspective and appreciate how hard the drivers actually work. It also shows how they are constantly making split second decisions. Keep up the good work mate.
@@SprintCarHub Between your channel, and T-Mez channel, they both bring me back to me entire childhood whether it was my dad racing midgets in the states, or my uncle's racing midgets and sprints down under. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Hamish! Yep - it's difficult to describe just how physical a Sprint Car is to drive without actually getting in and having a steer yourself. Thanks for the comment! -Toby
Thanks, Paul! I really want people to know that Sprint Car racing is so much more than just driving in circles and I'm proud to help show that. Thank you for watching and taking time out of your day to comment! -Toby
Hi I have watched heaps of races and raced for years myself not in sprint cars but I love the way you break it down. For those that have never raced as a driver it’s imperative to give accurate feed back to the crew as well as learn from your mistakes and other drivers while trying to have fun and enjoyment. Your right hard on your body and your heart is definitely pumping. Makes me want to get back in a race car. Thanks heaps keep the videos coming they are very enjoyable well done to all. Cheers Shawn
Hey Shawn. Thanks so much, mate! I really want fans mindsets to shift from "they just drive in circles" to thinking "wow! There's so much more to it!" I think making vids like this will help that! And I'm the same! I watch onboard footage and try to put myself in their shoes. If only I could get back in! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment your thoughts. -Toby
Great stuff. Would love to see some "head-to-head" videos, maybe looking at split screen on hot laps or similar to see where people are making time and different approaches? Maybe include a driver or crew chief to talk about the set up choices they made?
Thank you! The aim is to eventually add drivers into the breakdown and maybe even do LIVE videos to help include the viewers and their questions! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! -Toby
So glad you found this video and like it. It's on of my favorites. Hoping to make more like this. Although it is difficult because you never know what the quality of onboard footage is gonna look like. Thanks for commenting, mate. Toby
I'd watch a heap of these. They don't have to be recent races, just interesting events. Are you up for the last Sprint car race before Archerfield closes? Would be great to have a mini feature film of it. I'd donate some time if I can help
Thanks so much mate! We have a lot of vids coming up very soon and unfortunately won't make it to Archerfield for their last show. I really appreciate the offer of help. -Toby
Great video and I would like to see more of this type of video as a fan I learn things and stuff about Sprintcar racing also it means I'm better informed and understand why a driver does curtain things on track.
they put that dirt up there to so you can gain speed at certain times. when that time is is what works best for your style. medium high is what you run through any winged sprint car corner unless, as you pointed out, you are not in the lead or top two
Great vid mate, really informative. Would love to see a video on how riding the brakes play a part going into turns, depending on which line you’re racing 👍
Great explanation of what a driver is doing all through a race. Having heard it from you maybe a driver can tell us his version as a Feature race is on. You being an exdriver know it all but it would be interesting to hear one of the young guns description of what was going on. Any chance of Marcus Dumsney doing a talk on one of his races and what was going through his mind. Whatever you do will be fine with everybody so just keep these videos coming. The “off season” lasts a long time.🎉
Hey great stuff Toby r u guys coming up to brissy for the last meeting at archerfield speedway which is a 2 night deal . So far an awesome field of 62 cars. If so where r u staying. Also u said earlier in the year u went to a track not to follow the racing but to do a report on it it was around classic time not sure if u got there cause u said ull do a video on it but we never seen anything, can u fill me in on that track please Toby thanks keep the great work up
Thanks, Mick! We won't be at Archerfield for the final night but will be filming a vid at another venue that weekend! Our video from Bordertown's Tolmer Speedway will be our next vid! -Toby
I'd like you to keep critiquing as It's interesting plus, it's my fix or Sprintcar racing and speedway in general. I still miss going to Tralee Speedway on a hot Saturday night here in Canberra (unlike now which is bloody cold and wet!).
Tralee? I was Track Announcer and Promotions Officer for Ron Ulrich back in the early 80's at Tralee, it was a fabulous track and I saw and called some terrific races there, including Garry Rush's fourth Sprintcar Title....
2:00 *_"Ryan pulls a tear-off. Which is expected. Because his vision is filled with cars."_* Holy Shit! I never knew that. Tear-offs are to make the cars in front of you go away. Camera is crystal clear, his shied must be clear too. Ryan ripped one to clear his vision of cars. I could have been somebody. I could have been a contender. Instead, I used tear-offs when my shield got covered with dirt and couldn't see. I used to think tear-offs were too expense, but now that I know their purpose, they are worth every penny.

Sprint Car drivers are making so many decisions every lap and I'm so glad I could help show some of that.
Thanks for the support!

Excellent analysis, Toby. Thanks for taking us into the cockpit!
Thanks, Marty!
We're lucky the teams and drivers are so welcoming to us and that enables us to make this stuff.

Yes, Please do more! Even some videos about how you set up the car and how that would change as the track changes.
Great disection of a heat race. Loved this vid
This is unreal analysis @toby - make more of these video's!!! I love it. 😁🏁
Thanks, Andrew!
I'm glad my breakdowns can at least explain my perspective, if not most of what the driver in the car is thinking.

Fascinating, instructive and powerful, thanks Toby, it does show the importance of reflex and split-second decisions. More please.

its wold how loose the steering is on these cars ive been so curious how they keep control of the cars with how much the front wheels move around
