Thanks for watching.
NASCAR Thunder 2002 is a racing simulator video game developed by EA Tiburon and published by EA Sports that came out for the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. The theme song for the game is Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is the fifth game in the NASCAR series of video games, and is the first of the series to have a new title (the other games simply read "NASCAR" and then the year). Notably, it is the first NASCAR game to feature alternate paint schemes on the cars. It featured the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Jeff Gordon on its cover and 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Bobby Labonte on the disc.
NASCAR Thunder 2002 was the first NASCAR game released for the Xbox and the second released for the PlayStation 2. Game modes consist of Create-a-car, Quick race, Season mode, Career mode, and practice. Before every race, the player has the option to qualify for a position at the start of the race, get to know the track in practice, or 'race' other cars in Happy Hour. The game has 35 drivers from the 2001 Winston Cup season (minus Dale Earnhardt due to his death, but the game has many tributes to him including a black #3 screen on start-up) and several then-Busch Series and fantasy drivers that can be unlocked.
The PlayStation 1 edition was separate from the rest, included only 36 drivers, and included an instant-replay feature, fantasy tracks, and only 18 drivers per race, and all of the alternate paint schemes were removed. A system of power-up/cheat cards and challenges, similar to Chase/Thunder plates and Lightning/Dodge Challenges in later editions, was a major game mode in this version. - Игры
0:02 A salute to, Dale Earnhardt Sr. 🥲👍🎗✝️❤🏎🏁
I find it interesting that Dale Earnhardt's number is the first thing you see after the PS2 boot up sequence, before the EA Sports logo and intro.
Dale Earnhardt Sr.
1951 - 2001
#doitfordale
It's almost as if they were paying tribute to him. Crazy.
He died during the development of the game. So they were paying tribute to him. Wish they had him in the game though.
@@applescruff1969 that’s because they were
He died when the game was being made. They were paying tribute. Doesn’t really take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
0:03 Gone, but never Forgotten
Respect 😔👍
Also timestamp 3 seconds as well
@@diethersantos6404 also this comment is *3* years ago
Rest in spaghet-3 and never forget-3
I believe this was the first NASCAR game to come out after Dale Earnhardt's death.
Nah, it was NASCAR Heat 2002. Thunder had the advantage of the career mode and more drivers and tracks.
Jet Cola Can't Melt Steel Beams I meant first EA Sports NASCAR game.
Ah, my mistake.
Jet Cola Can't Melt Steel Beams It's cool.
R.I.P Dale Earnhardt
Got this game back in the day mainly to hear Sweet Home Alabama. Lol
I remember this game...memories.
This is nostalgia right here this was the first Nascar game I played as a kid with my dad that intro hyped me up so much
As someone who isn’t a NASCAR fan, and only played this game because it came with the PS2, hearing that music was eye-opening
2024 rip dad 🙏🏽 and rip dale 🙏🏽… 27 now and used to play this back in 2005 when I was a kid with my uncle and while my dad watched lol
I played this game religiously. Still have it somewhere in my NASCAR collection.
I miss this game
ivan camarena same
Then play it
@@xboxed7202 lol
I still got nascar 2002,2003 and 2004 or 05
@@stephcurry3133 damn lucky you
when a game from 2001-2002 has better pit stop animation than Iracing, which has NONE.
It actually has now lol
It still hits hard to see that #3
I use to play this game and do full laps and full season... Had a fun time back then
it wasn't full laps but I remember once I did 50 laps on Bristol. I was on the last lap having 49 laps lead and had to pause the game to take the trash out for my mom. Came back to find that my brother had turned off the PS2. Lets just say I wasn't happy lol.
The first game I played on ps2. great times.
One of the first PS2 games I got for Christmas with a PS2. If I remember I got 3 2K5 games as well. Basketball, football, and hockey. Loved NHL 2K5.
thanks to this, whenever i hear *"E A SPORTS it's in the game"* i think of sweet home alabama
Me and my brother used to play this game a ton and now whenever I hear this song it reminds me of this game. Memories :)
Man I love this song and game. I remember playing this when I was little and like 1 or 2. It was awesome. I’m 17 now.
I used to have this Nascar 2002 ps2 game
Anyone here besides me for the nostalgia
God I miss this game. So much fun.
i still have it :)
Ahhhh the good memories playing this game long live the intimidator!!!!
Take me back to 2002
This was the first game I owned for PlayStation 2 what a trip down memory lane this was
Gordon on The cover is Accurate he won His 4th Championship that Year
So nice they honored Dale Earnhardt by putting his number first before anything shows how much he contributed to the sports success. Rip Dale we still miss you
I wish I could go back in time and experience the level of excitement again. Couldnt get home from school fast enough.
Aw man! So nostalgic! I was playing this game the same year it came out on my cousin's PS2 (he was 5 & I was 7). It was pretty cool to be playing a game based in FL, right where I lived at the time lol. Those were the dream days
My first PS2 game.
Mine 2!!
I think I remember playing this
I was 4 when i played this .. i'm 19 now😭
Same
I was 9, now I'm 15 almost 16

my uncle got me this for the ps1 when i was a kid , legendary game , so many nights going around these tracks 🥂
Back when nascar still felt like nascar
First nascar game i played as a kid. Loved this game!!
Oh the memories
i have very fond memories of this game
FREAKIN MISS THIS!
First ever NASCAR game I played. I had been in the states for a about two years. Had no idea what a PlayStation or NASCAR was. I was outside playing ball and this kid (neighbor) calls me up and said " ay dude wanna play PlayStation?" I was like what? "What is that? " And men was I hooked I turn out to be a huge NASCAR fan . Haven't missed a race in Charlotte motor speedway since.
I remember playing this when I was a few years old! They just don’t make them like they used to.
I remember going the wrong direct to cause a crash
@@victormarin2810 That gave me Michael Mrucz vibes
Sometimes, he drives into oncoming traffic. Or as he likes to call it, “The Oncoming Shits”
@@victormarin2810 My brother would do that when we played two player splitscreen. He said it was to "help" me by crashing the other drivers. LMAO, good times.
year I was born, either way I played and loved this game on ps2 at 5 years old, lol
I remember playing that game when o was very young my grandfather owned it
the head on crashes in this game were always a blast lol
The memories!
Man I remember this game
Ima get this game again
Remember those days
seems like the algorithm has just pushed this places
I bought this game on Microsoft Xbox over a month ago.
nostalgia, meu ps2 em 2002 que meu pai trouxe do EUA
This is how you do a NASCAR intro!!!
My childhood
im crying
Nostalgia
I’ve still got my copy of this, sucks that mine freezes on the 3 at the beginning so I can’t play
A small price to pay for commemoration.
Rather fitting that it would stop on the 3. If it had to break it would have to have broken there.
SWEET HOME ALABAMA
Damn I remember this
Oddly, there is no PC version of this game, so I have this version.
@Channel07 because of the controls
What's way to odd is that there's no pc version for nascar 2001
@@Goku-vb2nx I wish there was one as well.
@@wilkeso2123 what ?! Wow
@@wilkeso2123 they don’t match up.?
PS2 FTW
Anyone else looking this up in 2021 child hood right their
Opening reminds me of Cars
when EA was in the force Side
I think this was also used on the original Xbox version as well
I think gta has as long of a loading screen bc in the coding of this game it's literally loading in the intro, so in conclusion that's why it didn't let us skip it
I loved EA because of that... :/
Anyone know why this game wasn't a launch title for the Gamecube?
Is Alan Kulwicki on the game
Nascar 98-05 on PlayStation are gold including rumble and heat and heat 2002 but Nintendo got the short end of the stick with 98 and 99 on n64 and 03 and 05 on GameCube, nascar 2001 was the last game with the intimidator in it, nascar thunder 2002 was a fresh start and continuing until 2005 which was the last good nascar game and after that the quality got worse, the older games are better

The song that plays when you feel like kissing your sister.
What a boring song for an intro
Fuck you, it's the best song for the intro
I assume by 2019 you have questioned your life choices and have changed your mind
