Thank you for this recipe. I got rid of all my other candles because I read they are very toxic and I started using essential oil's. Nice to know I can still make a candle and it be safe for my home.
@dianatoews171 Essential oils can be extremely toxic and fatal to dogs and especially cats. I don't even use them in our home for that reason. Be careful and do your research
I was actually just going to look up how to make beeswax candles!!! Thank you for sharing your recipe! Can’t wait to smell mine! Many blessings to you and your family!
Ok so I and two other friends did this recipe this afternoon, following Laura's instructions. While waiting for the wax to cool down to 120 degrees, it began to harden at 135 degrees. We had to reheat it. After adding in the honey and vanilla extract, the wax formed lumps which were not going away with stirring. So we had to reheat again to get the lumps out. RUclipsrs have an uncanny ability to make everything seem easy , but when three people have the same issue while working one recipe, it calls for better instructions . Perhaps a step by step in the description box along with measurements. However we followed the video exactly and the temperature did not work. Plus the honey despite being mixed well, still ended up mostly in the last jar. 🤷
There are a few things that could have happened as to why you had issues. I know this is late but...beeswax is ify. I have watched a few videos from people who make beeswax candles for a living and they say you should pour between 155 - 165 degrees F. It's still warm enough to be fluid and doesn't have a skin on top. Also, you have to watch the temperature of everything. What was the temp in you room? What was the temp of the jars? If either is too cool then the wax will harden quicker. You can put your jars in the oven on the lowest setting to keep the warm til pouring then wrap them in aluminum foil to hold the heat before pouring. Or use a heating pad. Also, in order to get a smooth candle, make sure you pour it in the very center in one smooth motion. Not too fast or you'll get bubbles. And don't stop and start because, unlike soy, beeswax won't blend into itself. So you will see where you stopped and started pouring again. Unless you want that look. And it is best to a square wick with beeswax to get a good hot throw. The wick size depends on you jar size. Anything 3 diameters or less needs a #2 square wick, larger than 3 is around a #6. If it's too big then I am not sure about the wick size. And make sure it is actually pure beeswax and not a mixture of something, even though some people blend raw coconut oil with the wax to get a smoother consistency. Like 2 parts wax to 1 part oil and blend well for at least 2 minutes. Happy candle making.
Honey that has other additives, and isn’t pure, could be the problem too. But I haven’t done a honey candle yet so not exactly sure. I have had cracking in my beeswax candles tho, going to try a cooler temp 😉
I have been watching several of her videos,,,but never feel like i would love to try coz i believe it wont fit my “appetite “ some recipes of hers seem like naaa it would be like too oily etc…My candles (im new in making candles) so far the recipe i like is bee wax blends with soy wax 20/80% I scented with honey/warm vanilla fo., 9% in which i would try 10% of total FO next time. Oh dear i am in love with it. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I tried making these a couple of times. I am having problems with wicks (4 different ones) making the candle tunnel. Also, the vanilla sinks to the bottom of the jar and darkens the color of the wax, doesn't look very nice. Any suggestions? thank you!
I loved this video. Can I use, other than this, which I’m making tomorrow, other extracts, like honey and almond extract, or eve lemon extract? Also, can you make a video of how to make goat milk soap without lye? I’m not too good with lye, or not have the tools. Thanks so much for your lovely videos.
I waited until my wax was 125 degrees F (added the honey and vanilla) and it became mashed potato consistency by that point. I mashed it into mason jars since I didn't want to waste it and it smelled so good. What went wrong?
This looks amazing I can't wait to try it. I do have a question though. I've been experimenting with adding extracts to my wax melts to make them smell stronger. I am wondering though does it make them toxic to breathe? I haven't found much information online about it. Btw love all your videos!
What is your recommendation for brand and size for wicks for a general mason jar? Finding recommendations for wicks for beeswax is really difficult. Thanks.
@@ouroilyhouse Thank you for the quick reply. When I click on the link for the wicks it takes me to an Amazon page with multiple wick choices. I was hoping you could narrow that down. I have watched several of your beeswax candles tutorials and I am looking forward to making some.
I let my beeswax cool for only 5 minutes. I didnt have a thermometer:( the honey compeltelt hardened and ruined rhe whole thing. Lol UGH. Do you think 10-15 minutes to cool down is good ? Please help. ♡♡♡ thank you !
What are your thoughts on using alcohol free cooking extracts as the scent and candles? Such as alcohol free vanilla extract. I make beef Tallow Candles currently in essential oils are not strong enough and I don’t want to diverge from using things are natural.
Beeswax has a very distinctive slightly sweet and pleasant smell and "crayons" is not it. It's possible the wax you got is not beeswax at all. Also the smell of beeswax doesn't really fade or change at all even after years of sitting.
tyvm for this video. i cant wait to start making candles. going to start a line of things to sell. like soaps and candles and lip balms lotions etc. i heard that essential oils dont work as well as fragrant oils. please tell me if that is true. ty again

Yes!!
Using eo in candles is really such a waste. It burned out real quick before you could enjoy. I suppose
Careful with essential oils. Very toxic to cats especially, and other pets

My two favorite scents. Excited to try.
I also like adding flower petals to the top of the candle. Gives it a pretty touch 😊🧚♂️
how does it burn with the flower petals on top? do the petsls just sit in the wax pool?
@@nicholeg7568 yes
honey and beeswax! perfect!
Is the vanilla extract flammable since it has alcohol in it?
Thanks for share Laura sounds like a perfect combination 👏👏🙋🏻♀️🤗
I think so too!
Tummies! Definitely going to make those

Hi I am also having problems with the sinking in the middle once it hardens. Could it be the wicks? I’m not sure what I am doing wrong.
Excellent ,madam .
Hi could you any abstract to substitute for essential oil? Would the scent be noticeable from using oils instead?
Thanks for sharing. May Elohim bless you and yours
Same to you!
Wow , I’m going to try to make this. You do a wonderful job on your videos , and I enjoy learning new recipes and crafts, etc! 😀
Thanks so much 😊
How did it go
How do you clean the bowl that you used and do you use that bowl only for candle making?
Boiling water and paper towel
Would you still need to add coconut oil to not tunnel?
Yes you can!
Very nice 👍🏻
Thank you 👍
I read that vanilla extract contains alcohol and is flammable.
How does the honey not float directly to the bottom

Yes you can use any of those scents!! I have a recipe for that: www.ouroilyhouse.com/goat-milk-soap-bars/

I would check the ingredients on the products you are using. I personally use essential oils to scent.
I tried but mine is tunneling so bad ! What can I do ?

I have everything linked in the description box below the video.

Can you scrape and use vanilla beans?
Yes!
I can't wait to make these! About how much beeswax (ideally in ounces) do you use? I want to use my natural beeswax out of my hives ;)
I used a one pound package of beeswax and it made one large candle.
When I've made beeswax candles, they tunnel straight down the middle when lit. Any tips for preventing this??
You can also hug it with aluminum so the memory can stick to the candle. Your candle has a memory
@Amanda agreed! Beeswax candles burn a lot slower than store bought ones!
Sounds like you need to use a thicker wick.

In the original plain beeswax candle recipe you have added coconut oil. Would it work to add in some coconut oil here as well?
Yes!
@@ouroilyhouse awesome! Thanks for your reply! 🙂
How much beeswax did you use for this recipe?

It's a double edge, oils are expensive and natural hard to find. If selling ask ppl what they want
I received white and yellow beeswax pellets and both smell like "crayons". Is this normal? Or does this mean they're not good quality beeswax?
I guess crayons do have a waxy smell! I can see that!
Beeswax has a very distinctive slightly sweet and pleasant smell and "crayons" is not it. It's possible the wax you got is not beeswax at all. Also the smell of beeswax doesn't really fade or change at all even after years of sitting.

Yes I did
I'm curious what is the burn time for the candles?
😍😍😍
hello, does this candle attract ants since there's honey in it?
I have not had any issues.
Glue is toxic smell. A bit of wax on the bottom of the wick
