Same. My parents disciplined but I never felt like they were overbearing. I’m not even an adult yet and they let me do whatever and dress however I want

As a Christian you can’t force your beliefs on other people and expect them to believe the same way you do. God gave us a free will. The way that mom raised her kids isn’t the greatest.
And honestly, the kid will rebel if you force it on them - that's just natural for a kid to act out and act against you when it's hammered on you the way that this sociopathic woman has done
Mother is forcing her kid to go in a pathway not someone else. A mother has a right to do that, but not to beat or hurt mentally. If you dont know, I dont know. Parents duty is to direct their kids in a good way. Kids duty is to study.

A very restrict upbringing simply doesn't work, because kids will be confronted by other kids by the way they dress and behave. These differences will impact in the social life badly. Kids are all the time trying to fit in, if their socializing process is disrupted, then you are about to face negative consequences.

It goes both ways. Too liberal of a household and things are absolute chaos because of the lack of structure. I grew up in a liberal household and it was a nightmare. My form of rebellion is being a good person with values and contributing to reducing the suffering in this world. Liberal hedonism is much deadlier than the most "conservative" household. Just my 2 cents from my million dollar experience.

Now my parents understand. The Baptist upbringing was making me miserable. It wasn't until I turned 23 when I became agnostic atheist. My parents now understand that I want to live my own life, and they don't force religion on me anymore.
When i was a kid my parents forced religion on me, but i got into it really deep and forced it upon them without realizing it. They couldn't stand me, then i became a Witch, and came out as transgender. Now they disown me.
So she pulled her daughter out of a school where she was happy, making friends and learning about subjects that she was interested in and then forced her to go to a religious school in order to convert her? Awful parenting!

I’m a Catholic, and I don’t condone the level of strictness of the mother. She’s too much, and she doesn’t understand that God forgives, and God calls her to bring her into the faith, but she has to be willing to follow Christ, not to be forced.

Religious abuse is very real. I grew up in it, and I’m lucky that my whole family (including my parents) and I got out a few years ago. We’re all either atheists or agnostic now and there’s complete peace in our lives. We never had that when we were Christians.
That’s because you walked into a world where they abuse the Christian name. God is real and he doesn’t ask of us that Insane cult life. You allowed them to destroy your faith. That’s really sad.

Me and my family are Catholic, and they let me listen to pop music. Also pop music is my favorite music genre. I went to Catholic, private schools and they required uniform skirts that can be at least 1 inch above the knee. TBH I think that this Catholic mom is going too far and controlling too much!!

Even though I’m not a Christian, This girl should be EXTREMELY LUCKY that she isn’t born into a muslim family… because muslim parents are just as strict as that mom.

I love God, I teach my kids his love not so much his wrath lol. You can’t force them to a relationship with God, it’s an extremely personal thing you go through. I rebelled in high school as well, (my grandma forced me to go to Mormon church). I learned then I wasn’t a big fan of organized religion.
Us Christians, Catholics, and other religions in that manner all agree that this is too much👁👄👁
This is why so many young people turn away from God and develop such a negative point of view on Christianity. God is not this way he doesn’t want us to feel suffocated, trapped. He wants us to feel peace, happiness, freedom, he just wants us to talk to him.
