Only thing that comes to my mind is that Kamen Rider Genealogy of Justice game that has RE style fixed camera angles and 3D beat 'em up combat.
Wouldn't say it's "like" Garo but I thought it was worth mentioning.

You should check out Drakan: Order of the Flame.
It's not quite the same, it's a 3rd person Hack and Slash with very minor RPG elements - however it is an amazing PC hidden gem that has the fabled Dragon Riding theme, and its pulled off very well.
Its gorey as FUCK, as well. The story is kinda bland and kinda corny in a funny way, but it's well worth playing. PLEASE check it out!
I can't vouch for the PS2-exclusive sequel.
I guess Musashi - Samurai Legend and Swords of Destiny come to mind...
It might not be the best one and it's better, but it's better than some of output in the last few years: Kamen Rider Memory of Heroez
I recommend checking out the Kamen Rider Kabuto game, its another example of a Toku action game and its also Kabuto the best Kamen Rider.

I just realized the perfect way to know how a hack-and-slash combat system has potential. Put Devil May Cry 3, 4, or 5 music over footage of it. If it's fitting, the system either has potential, or is good.
Now I wanna see someone do that for games like ninja gaidan.

I’d love a tokusatsu action game like this, but where it’s meta about it being a show. Call all the levels episodes, your audience increases as you perform better, and you can spend your points to improve the show’s “budget.” Basically this by way of Chroma Squad.

Oh, this was a pleasant surprise. I just finished the Garo series recently, and I didn't even know about this game. I'd love to see you do more tokusatsu stuff, especially for the older stuff like this.
A unique detail about garo is that its a toku specifically aimed at matute audiences, featuring frontal female nudity, gore, horror and overall mature themes.
Its also a MASSIVE franchise in japan, still getting more and more entries, anime, books and such... no games tho, unless you count the ff14 content.
It was also bassicly supposed to be a Golden Bat remake, but it became it's own thing.
1:35 GARO: Vanishing Line was actually pretty great for how little people watched it, pretty much journey to el dorado with giant moterbikes, swords and lions.
Not to mention, sexy priestesses and the lead's VA is also in Crtical Role (VAs doing DnD).
Agreed I feel like they finally got a hold down how they should make a Garo anime season and sure enough it the last anime we got for Garo 🤣

Honestly Garo is probably the most underrated Toku series. It's the Blade and Hellboy of Japanese superheroes

Honestly, I would like the next Jump Force to be like Marvel Ultimate Alliance or the first fantastic four game. Something where we can see the cool powers but also we can have a mutiplayer that isn't about beating each other up. Big roster to start with and add in some dlc you could make a great game for a couple of years too.

ZoE1 and 2 had versus mode after you beat the game, where you can play as enemies, bosses and other Orbital Frames. Silent Bomber (very underrated PS1 action game) also has versus mode where you can play as bosses, npcs and the main character. FFXIV has Garo PVP event so it was the first time I ever heard of Garo.

I’ve never played Tokusatsu/ Super Sentai games. Every time I saw one, it was a mobile card game or a PvP fighting game. This looks sick though…

I wouldn’t mind if you talk about more tokusatsu video games, like kamen rider memory of heroes! An action game that came out on the PS4 annd switch not too long ago, and has an official English translation!(even if it would require knowledge about W, OOOs and zero one to some degree.) It’s super cool to see RUclipsrs talk about this genre even if it’s through the games! Great video.
Garo is probably the best series to start on when watching tokus.

Finally Garo is getting the respect it deserves. There is an official channel on youtube that broadcasts the episodes if you guys want to watch.
The VS mode reminded me of the much MUCH lamer PS2 Teen Titans game, which was very mashy and really really simple, but contained a VS Mode with tons of characters, including ones that didn't make it into the main campaign and it was EXTREMELY unbalanced. But fun!
And even tho i always thought the game was mid at best, i spent a GOOD chunk of time playing the VS mode when i was younger.
Really wish we could get a really good Kamen Rider game that could potentially bring in new fans
Bandai still makes some good tie in games just not many. It seems to be relegated to mecha anime like the Gundam games or Super Robot Wars games

Speaking of games that added an extra modes Star wars episode 3 which had its normal like story mode where you play through the movie, but then it had the extra fighting game mode. After you beat the campaign with both characters and you can unlock the bosses in the other Jedis as playable characters

started playing this game because of this video and I figured out that the heavy attack when hitting square happens if you double tap square quickly, if you want to do the regular light combo hit square once then you can start mashing once that initial attack has come out

Yeah I miss when Kamen RIder game is base on each series and you can play the monster/villian in that game as well especially Kabuto which have many character to unlock.

Japanese game studio Nihon Falcom, decided it use one its video game series YS. Especially YS 6 The Ark of Napatism use the fast hack and slash style from Devil May Cry as an influence of the gameplay. As an action rpg, the YS series uses experience points, an inventory system, the ability to use a restoration item only one in hand, you have buy a new restore item for preparation etc. I imagine the Devil May Cry took some inspiration from YS. The reason, YS may be considered by many gamers as important and one of very first action rpgs in history. Without the knowledge of YS, there may not have been the action rpg subgenre and even the hack and slash genre wouldn't have existed by today. That said, the importance of the YS series cannot be forgotten and not to be underestimated.
Garo is one of the best tokusatsu that I saw, so seeing that it have a good game is refreshing.
So about the square attack it happens if you rapid press the button and the timer on the armor works by adding 200 points in your timer so if you have 500 points remaning in the last level you will start the next with 700

Hey it's the game I asked you about last video haha, it really does look cool. I agree there really is a ton of arena fighters lol. Saint Seiya soldier's soul gets a pass from me though because it invented the whole trope for these kinds of super moves and it works there.

Garo is amazing, sadly hard to come by the live action installments, I had to import it from the US, crossing my fingers that it wasn't actually region locked (luckily it's not). Have the first two series and the content that came between them.

Watch Garo it's phenomenal. Memory of Hero gameplay is ok, but as a big W and OOO fan it's just super nice to play all those forms

I still think the CGI looks good for when it came out. I'd even argue that the CGI looks better than the CGI in Kamen shows that came out later.
i'd say some series had alot of efforts put in when it comes to designs and using the CGI properly to the point where they have aged pretty well compared to other Tokusatsu shows. Designs are very important.

I don't really know games like this, but I do know Destrega on the PS1. It's... a little odd in that it's pretty simple and short. I mostly remember it for it's shoddy voice acting these days.
Tokusatsu games market recently is pretty sad, especially for Ultraman, after years we still don't have a Fighting Evolution 4.

For my pick, I would say Ultraman Fighting Evolution 3 and FullMetal Alchemist 2 Curse of Crimson Elixir, cuz those two are pretty darn obscure as far as I know.
But if you want to go with a more "obscure" in a sense that general public don't always talk, I would say .Hack G.U. (or the entire .Hack franchise) in general.

One thing though, maybe it seems that way because I watch a lot of content covering older stuff and I can't quote you on it but it seems like you shit on newer games so much it doesn't really serve a point anymore. What I mean is at the beginning you basically say that you'd like a third person single player MHA game instead of whatever the fuck the One's Justice thing is and I get that, that makes sense and serves a point. But at 8:40 you basically just say "remember when" and if you want to stress that then sure but I mean from my point of view it seems redundant. I am watching this video of a PS2 action game precisely because I remember and I wanna know about this type of stuff.
Again, this is not a deal breaker for me at all or anything I just feel like I hear this type of stuff so often recently and I just don't see the point.
I've watched Garo before and it's awesome but this is the first I've heard of a Garo video game.

Climax scramble is a decent game. You can get a english text translated version. (The motion stuff is optional) and it doesnt look bad for a switch game, its developed by the maxiboost team I believe as eighting only developed climax fighters on ps4.
I played a lot of arena fighters and theres a few i enjoy. (Saint Seiya Soldiers Soul, Ultimate ninja storm 4 and recently Demon Slayer) i understand that you want games that arent so overly simplistic (theres skill involved just not exactly the same way with like certain games) and have more meaningful content. Its just unfortunately money goes where it goes
The online bit is true though I wish these companies would at least make decent netcode. Also unfortunately climax scramble is offline play only no online multiplayer. You can co op in story mode though

Thank you very much for mentioning that. I have been exploring different and classic Action games from different mediums and i discovered the Afro samurai game. I loved the Anime movies, they were masterpieces. I also loved the game, great Hack and slash game.
