    Great review...same trim package as our 2022 Ioniq5 in Cyber Grey. We traded our 2023 Kona Ultimate EV for the Ioniq - we put 48000km on the Kona in 10 months and loved it. So when our Ioniq5 showed up on our dealers lot we grabbed it! Totally satisfied with Hyundai.
    I have to say though I would not call the I5 a sub compact crossover, our Kona I would have classed as sub compact, the I5 seems more comparable to a Toyota Rav4 (which we still own) but the Hyundai I5 is way more refined vehicle!
    Thank you for doing the video!
    Mike

    Fun review! You're enthusiasm for it is contagious. The only thing you didn't show us was the power closing shade. I'm seriously thinking of making this my next EV, also a Limited AWD model, but in Cyber Grey.

    A fabulous review for a fabulous car. I’ve got my eye on a Limited 2024 as I’d like to see what changes they make. I wouldn’t mind a rear wiper as I’ve heard some owners think it’s still necessary. I think Michael was slightly traumatized by the EV 6’s stupid climate control that switches back and forth between climate and infotainment. 😅

      No real change for the 2024 model except a digital rear view mirror as an option (probably US only).

    Conditions definitely have to be ideal for charging to happen in under 18 minutes. EA chargers often (VERY OFTEN) won’t rev up to max charging levels at almost ALL EA stations.

      It also depends on the temp of the battery pack and current SOC of the car, so many stars have to align for that but I’ve seen it happen many times.

    Notice that the power outlet under rearseat delivers less power than V2L adapter,,,2400 W / 3600W,,,can be an issue !

      That’s a good point! I didn’t have that info at the time of review but will definitely point it out in future reviews. I had a hunch but now I’ll dig deeper and make sure I include those numbers moving forward.

    If I drive 25,000 miles per year, how long will the battery last?

    • @MichaelDrivesOfficial
      @MichaelDrivesOfficial  Год назад

      Wow that’s a lot of miles! There are many factors at play that affect the life of batteries, but you will at least have the confidence of a 10-year/100,000-mile limited warranty from Hyundai.

    • @bradh6185
      @bradh6185 Год назад

      @@MichaelDrivesOfficial So at my rate of miles, my warranty would be over in 4 years. I make the last payment a year later. My concern is that, by that time, my range and power would be diminished enough that the car isn't a good option for my commute and that, for the same reason, I wouldn't be able to sell the car for anything more than scrap. This is what I'm trying to reconcile in order to get onboard with EVs. Otherwise, I like the idea(and I really like the Ionic5!), especially considering that, according to my calculations, the amount spent on electricity(charging at home) would be one-fifth what I currently spend on gasoline. Sorry I couldn't make this shorter, but if you get time to read it, let me know what you think.

      I see your conundrum here. You may want to check this site out, www.recurrentauto.com/for-owners. I’m not sure how useful this would be for someone buying a new car, but you can get free monthly battery reports and have a good understanding of the health of the battery, and maybe sell if it’s starting to degrade beyond it’s useful life. If you do limited DCFC (L3) charging and charge at home as you mentioned, I would expect the battery life to be good.

    I am confused this is not the Limited trim….this is the ULTIMATE trim. The Limited trim does not come with a sunroof.
    ULTIMATE/LIMITED/PREFERRED AWD LONG RANGE/PREFERRED LONG RANGE RWD/
    PREFERRED/ESSENTIAL
    Those are the available trims.
    EDIT : I apologize…my friend that works at the Owen Sound dealership messed up….the trim that has everything BUT NO SUNROOF is called the LUXURY TRIM. Not limited. The ULTIMATE is the one with the sunroof.

    • @MichaelDrivesOfficial
      @MichaelDrivesOfficial  Год назад +1

      Unfortunately Hyundai USA (and many automakers) have different trims for the U.S. and Canada. In the U.S. for Ioniq 5 we have SE Standard Range/SE/SEL/Limited, and those are possibly packaged differently than what Hyundai Canada in Preferred/Preferred Long Range/Preferred AWD Long Range.

    Ok, yet another reviewer with a top end car. My Ioniq 5 has few of these features, no relaxation mode seat, only the drivers seat is electric. no electric tailgate, no 360 degree view, no sunroof, no power point in the rear. While I love mine and it's a pleasure to drive I would not buy another until they fit a rear wiper. this is a huge oversight. I feel that Hyundai are doing prospective buyers no favours by allowing only top of the range models be reviews, I feel that it is bordering on dishonest.

    • @Digikidthevoiceofreason
      @Digikidthevoiceofreason Год назад +1

      Agreed. You have the PREFERRED trim….or the PREFERRED LONG RANGE trim.
      I agreed that a wiper is a MUST. Their promise of “ the rear air spoiler is designed to clean the window for you “ is pure bullshit and has been proven wrong over and over again on RUclips. They want to add a camera to the new versions….which will do nothing because it will get dirty too.
      I heard and seen the new Ioniq 5 N-Line will have a rear wiper. There are videos and the one video with the snow course shows the rear window….that distinctively shows a clear wiper pattern on the rear window.

    • @MichaelDrivesOfficial
      @MichaelDrivesOfficial  Год назад

      Unfortunately the cars manufacturers make available for reviews are almost always the very top trim level. The media doesn’t have a choice as that’s what gets put in the fleet, but I would absolutely love to review lower end trims, specifically base models, and will try to get them for future reviews. Possibly a partnership with a local dealer might make this possible, it’s something I will definitely consider. On the flip side, the car is essentially the same in lower trims with less features, so one can still get an overall sense of the car and then decide if the extra upgrades are worth the price.

      @@steffenjensen9350 true but you are clearly in Europe and your outlets are at 240 volts. Our Ioniq V2L is marked 16 Amps (@ 120Volts) so about 1600w, but there is some discussion that it may only be 10 Amps or 1000w. I will be doing some testing on this and see if that is truly the case. Even so 10 Amps at 120 Volts is still very much adequate for most applications!
