For different markets, the Studio Display is for prosumers whilst the M8 is a consumer product. The Apple display is 5K so better experience and the display quality is several steps up on the Apple, I am not even sure the M8 is IPS. If I could afford it I would choose the Studio over this and if I was buying a monitor, at £699 the M8 would not be even on my shortlist as it is way too expensive.
I've watched other reviews about Samsung Smart Monitor M8 and I just got annoyed because they didn't give info in a way that satisfied me, but this... this is the best review I've seen, and it convinced me to buy one. I just need to save up for it first and check if it's available in my country
Not looking for a monitor bc my current one is still nice but will definitely be keeping an eye on Samsung's M series. I hope later models will eventually have a higher refresh rate. Currently anything that's both 4K and high refresh is priced in the $2K range. I'm waiting for the technology to become cheaper l guess.
@@mikkocae7363 Love it! I just wish the 24" would also be 4K but FHD is fine. I mostly use it for my work from home but it's certainly a plus to have smart functions in it for when they're needed.
Thank you for this great, peaceful review of M8. I'm just waiting for mine to be delivered after Easter and now I'm sad that there was no pink option when I was pre-ordering it. I will be getting a white one. I would also love to know what is that wallpaper with bunches of flowers, it's so vibrant and spring-y :)

I'm in the middle of finding new monitor and general setup and I wanted to go mostly with light since black is absolute nightmare to clean. And since I'm a Samsung gal, I was kinda sad that Apple has some options and not Samsung- but found this one few weeks ago and with stuff I have to buy (camera included) this might be a reasonable option for me. Thanks for the review
If you already have a TV, I have a 4K OLED, then the advantages of this is nominal. It is very expensive and there are far better monitors that are much cheaper. I would get the Mateview, £300 cheaper and better in most regards. Obviously the Studio Display from Apple is far better but you pay for that and it is therefore niche foe the average consumer. I could not recommend the Samsung M8 unless you are a Samsung super fan.
True. Apple studio monitor is intentionally overpriced garbage that uses an 8 year old display and non user-friendly design such as unremovable power cable.
Excellent video. I want to ask you if in the Apple TV app you can access not only the streaming service but also iTunes movie purchases. Thank you so much!
Thanks for a great review. 2 questions: 1. Do you think it could be wall mounted with some additional hardware? 2. Is it possible to configure it to show a split screen for computing - in place of a dual monitor?
Yes, split screen is built in the OS. Just drag a windown to the edge of the monitor and you'll see it outline a split screen. Try doing it in the corners, too.
I need better sound quality. If I want a speaker where I can adjust volume via my MacBook keyboard - should I use HDMI-ARC or Bluetooth? Or will neither work without an app?
Great device. Just crippled by connectivity/ports for older devices. Having more HDMI ports could have been good, for example. What happens if you have more than one device that uses HDMI....now you have to be hot swapping a cable each time you want to switch 😅
HOW do you use the camera from your mac?! samsung told me it's not possible, and i have my macbook hooked up via HDMI. is it a feature available only is you're using the monitor AS your computer with a mac mini??
Great review. Yours is only M8 review I've found that test the webcam with other app rather than just built-in Google Duo. Just want to ask to make sure that if connect with my Macbook Pro, it will notice the webcam available to use with any video conference app on my Macbook; like Zoom that shown in your video, right? Just would like to make sure that is not the standalone Zoom app installed in M8.
Hello, very good video. One question, I bought the Samsung M8 and a Mac Mini M2, and I don't really know which cable to use to connect it. I have read that if you do not connect it via USB-C it does not detect the camera, but in that case, which USB-C cable do I use, the one that comes with the monitor itself? And which of the two USB-C that the monitor has should I use? Because there is one that charges, and if I connected it to a laptop I would understand it, it would charge it, but if I connect it to a Mac Mini it doesn't need to be charged, wouldn't that be bad? Thank you so much.
I just bought a Samsung Smart Monitor M8 and I do love it. . . with one exception. The spiffy webcam seems to be stuck on WIDE ANGLE and I can't find an adjustment for it. Any suggestions for me, Michael Josh?
This is one of several review that praises this monitor, but I got one when I got my new Mac Mini 2 and I'm not so sure. RUclips videos, in particular, often look "muddy," blacks so profound that a Black person sitting in front of a black background lacks definition. I've tried three different browsers (Chrome/Firefox/DuckDuckGo) with minimal difference among them, and fiddled and tweaked the video settings with little change. The screen looks fantastic when working as a TV.
The problem with these monitors connecting to WiFi like this samsung monitor is that they will gather even more data not only from what you watch but what you do with your computer. It's ridiculous at this point that companies want you to connect your monitor to WiFi. Buy a regular 4k monitor and forget about this data grabbing crap. I got a intel nuc with a non smart 4k tv and that's enought. These smart tv only record what you say through the remote and what you browse in your tv.
I bought the M8 on sale for about $325 and a calibrator to help with color accuracy. After 3 days I returned both because the color accuracy was off. Whites had a gray tint to it and other colors were a little washed out. I would say its great budget monitor for an all in one tv/monitor and the speakers are just ok. Nothing great. If color accuracy ISN'T NECESSARY, I'd say buy it. Decided to invest in the apple studio display, I didn't want to cuz of the price. But I grew tired of buying and returning a bunch of monitors that I was unhappy with. So to save me from all the trouble, I stuck with apple. At least I know I'll get something I'm really happy and not wonder if I made the right choice.
Sorry you had to go through that! For most things we also use the Studio Display (one matte, one glossy) for its color accuracy, but the M8 is a great buy for everything else.
Thanks for the video. I have been having trouble with the voice assistant. It turns on on its own and I cannot figure out how to prompt it to work... Any thoughts?
I have bought the pink one. It is great, but I have a problem. When i conect my iPad Pro 2022 with the usb-c i have black panels on the right and left side. What can i do? Thank you.
Funny. I hook it up to my system and A) I have to figure out what cables I CANT use with it when using in conjunction with a Mac mini and B) All things being equal with my last monitor, I get hiccups and drop outs in video output. Netflix, RUclips...both drop audio and video skips. This could be because of the Mac OS update but as of now, this monitor is more of a letdown and frustration than an upgrade from my 32" Samsung UHD
HELP! I just bought the Samsung 32inch M80B. How do I turn off the monitor microphone(Not the one on the remote) I've searched with a flashlight in the lower right hand corner and cannot find a switch to turn microphone on/off
