One of the most helpful videos on the radio, just tuning in with a close up of the screen which for me being a very soon to be owner (and new to the hobby) very helpful indeed
I've had an ATS25 (not max) for a few months now and it finally replaced my aging Radio Shack DX-390 in the garage. I did have to do one modification to use a larger, external speaker. The output from the 3.5mm headphone jack on the back of the radio is attenuated for its purpose... so won't drive a speaker to any useful level. Basically I just added another 3.5mm TRS switching jack on the back, using only Tip and Ring and splicing to the internal speaker output on the PCB such that it switches from the internal speaker to external when I insert a plug. It actually sounds very good on a big speaker from an old-school component stereo system.
Hi, I have just received an ATS25 MAX from Aliexpress today, however mine comes with a wifi port and wifi antenna, also the band switch has an auto mode position. It is running firmware 5.2b. I cannot find any wifi setting in the gui or setup pages. Do you know if there's a way to get the wifi interface to work on this hardware? Cheers Paul ***edit I have just opened the unit up and the wifi antenna port is wired up, and the main PCB is labeled ATS25 MAX decoder 2 😀 ***
My ATS-20 wound up getting fried because it didn’t like a cord I was using to charge the battery, released magic smoke and everything. Lasted about… two years. I used the heck out of it too. I live in OKC and used it to receive FT8 contacts with a random wire antenna… I got 54 countries. Japan, Russia, most of Europe… for 45$ now it’s a steal.
I like that the Max has the ability to change the frequency step by tapping the screen. I wish my X1 was capable of that. I wonder if it is possible to upgrade the software? I would imagine the hardware is the same.
I don't have licence for my ham radio but I like to just listen am not interested in transmitting at all is this device something you would recommend just for listening receiving or is there something better for only receiving
Hi, Just found out they come out with a new version out these radio, the "ATS25X2 Harduino V4.13 AIR" these one have a WIFI system integrated, I don't know how its going to be used on the radio, I wish they add the ability to have a memory banc to storage your stations. I ordered one, hope it works better than the old one, the ATX251 witch I real Like. Have a good day. and fun....
Will it still use the si4732? It's weird that Skyworks doesn't list it as an active product, while the si4735 is listed and its datasheet reads identical to the 4732. More weird is I can buy the si4732-A10 from Digikey in bulk right now, but Digikey doesn't even list the si4735.
It's a pity it doesn't have AM airband. I'd buy it today if it did as it would be a great holiday communications receiver. Maybe with your connections you could ask them. Shouldn't be too difficult to implement in software...
The family of SkyWorks ICs the si4732 belongs to doesn't include one that supports air band. There is a version that supports (US) Weather band, but no air band in the house. Which seems strange to me, since they support broadcast AM *and* broadcast FM. Air band frequencies start just above FM broadcast and they already support AM demodulation and the narrow bandwidths of LW, MW and SW. Of course I know little about the rigors of IC level design choices, but it at the knowledgeable layman level, it seems they've got all the ingredients to receive narrow AM at VHF without extreme effort. Heck, it might even be possible at their on-chip firmware level, but we're not likely to find out.
I have one of these odd little radios and for now just use it to listen to FM 106.7 at low volume. I have not learned to use the rest of it yet, but think it will be useful if the world continues to go to the pits, especially if the politics in America goes more insane. I don't even know where I got it, but the battery is a nice feature. Too old to do much with modifying it. Odd that the power switch is on the back.
I have an X1 ver. and I change the freq by tapping the screen. That's the biggest problem with these rigs, when you buy one you never really know what you'll end up getting. Firmware hackers are now getting wise and charging for the privilege...and who can blame them, thing is if they live in countries we're not supposed to deal with we are stuffed anyway as is the guy modifying the firmware. BTW...that 'chuffing' sound we're hearing is caused by the synthesizer, many of the cheaper radio's suffer from it. Actually it goes back many years, my old DX-440 does it although you could carry out a mod to minimise the sound somewhat on that set.
I once read on the SWLing blog that the "chuffing" sound when changing the frequency is due to the slow refresh rate of the host DSP chip's VFO. The Silicon Labs Si473x series DSPs are from an early 2000s design which hasn't been upgraded to this day.

great video. ¿which antenna were you using during tests ?
Loved to have seen how it copes with AM VHF Airband.
I am impressed by this little radio, put a loop on it have fun

Can you add a stereo jack? Or the headphone jack just add it to a computer speaker system for stereo sound....
It would be helpful to know what antenna system you used.
That “retro” display on the SW band is pretty cool
Agree cause is AGC.. be sweet to have adjustment for AGC attack and release time setting
..

Firmware 5.2???? 😮
I have ATS-20 and I love it. If I would have some spare quid, this one would be next on my list.
are these radios have a good quality and are they durable ?
@@davidespada01 Tbh Yes. Casing is metal.

What sort of antenna would I require for this radio thanks
Did you have to correct the up down knob
Welche Antenne benutzen sie ?
The speaker seems weak. How would it sound connecting it to powered speakers thru the ear phones plug?
I bought this and it's not picking up any AM (MW) stations do I need a special AM antenna for AM?
I have it for a few months, very nice then,
but I see this is a new version.
So, is the max better than the X1 version?
The question that never gets an answer, lol.
@@forgetyourlife 😂 well, I can but hope 🤷🏻♂️
Very impressive can you tell me if it can receive the Air Band ?

Does ats25max have memory function to store channel frequency ? Thanks in advance .
Does it FM on CB-Frequencies ???
the range in LW?
Hi Mate tried to see one on uk amazon but not there? sold out by any chance?
I still have mine if you want to buy it. I have no use for it.
@@TechMindsOfficial How much Mate I'm in UK

ATS25X2, 2023 new version will be available soon

What’s difference between ats25x1 and ats25max
The're the same Radio, it's all down to the firmware that makes the difference.

Hi and sorry for my english. Which antenna for the best performance? Thank you
Depends on the band. Best antenna is always dependent on frequency, or at least the overall band.
There you go sir i have pressed the subscribe button
Does anyone know where I can buy a 4.2V 3500mAh battery for an ATS25?
Si 4735 ?
is this worth the money you have not said if a good buy

No replies to any of the questions. Dubious
Not recepcion in MW is very very low.
ATS-25X1 is a new version allready to buy....
It’s the same as the max.
What makes you think the 25x1 is new? It looks like it has the same chip?
Authentic videos

Portable? Are you kidding?

Hi, would you recommend this or the Malchite you reviewed here: ruclips.net/video/M6J6Dy69yAo/видео.html
Malahit is the much more advanced receiver, if you buy the russian oroginal !
typo: original ..... and also a good chinese Malahit clone is better, more sensitive, waterfall is worth 100$ extra but it isn't so much more.
Spazzatura giocattolo x bebe
MORE CHINESE JUNK!
What s difference between ATS 25 and ATS 100 ?
