I'm a god damn dumb ass. Here I am in the video waving the bar ends around, NEVER did I look at the dumb things can go down to 37cm like you said... I'm an idiot.
@@DiabeticCycling No worries man, it happens to all of us. I think it would be good to add some kind of annotation to the video so others wanting narrow bars don't feel like they are forced to buy the aero drops. Thanks for the great content!
@@DYCARBINE So, someday in the future, I plan to put out a video about me. Here's the short version. I had multiple seizures and strokes 5 years induced by ketoacidosis. Many MRIs and CT Scans revealed I also hemorrhaged blood from the brain. So why am I saying all this... Since the incident, I have issues with my memory and also issues where my brain just sorta disconnects at times. Basically, it never dawned on me that the Classic bar ends that the bike came stock with can be pushed in to get to 37cm. It never even entered my head. It is a struggle that I've been living with since which is also compounded by getting older, too. Once an intelligent individual, I'm just a shell of my old self bumbling.... Now onto something more fun, let's talk bikes! Now that you reminded me the Classic ones can be narrowed, I may go back to those since I don't care for the flare at the drops. Although I also saw that the Aero ends provide additional 10mm in reach which I direly need due to that dumb stem length from the integrated cockpit. Anyhow, thank you pointing that out!!!
Hey DC, great video as always and your timing is perfect! I think I want the AXS version and have been waiting for them to come back in stock for a while now. I think the AXS version might be a better choice for me out here on the ROUGH streets of the Inland Empire, as it comes with the slightly wider (23mm) internal ZIPP 454 NSW wheels. I'll throw a set of 32mm tires on it and like you, I'll likely swap out the 10-28 cassette for either a 10-30 or 33. FYI, my Ultimate CF SLX 9 Di2 came with the DT Swiss ARC 1100 dicut wheels and they were the first thing I took off. To me, the internal width is just too narrow for the 30mm or in most cases 32mm tires I run out here. Keep us posted on how you get along with the new CFR, I'm interested to hear more about how you get along with it after more miles/time on the bike. Keep up the great videos brother and stay safe.
So far, some pesky annoyances definitely although for the most part I'm enjoying the ride. I will definitely have enough to say forcing me to talk my head off like always.... :)
@DiabeticCycling, As I mentioned in the comments in your unboxing video, the Aero Bars have 10mm longer reach. That's why you're not feeling "tightness" even though the stem is 90mm. Your current setup with the aero bar ends is effectively the same as the defaut bar ends with 100mm stem.
OMG Brother. First, please tell me you are a fellow Korean. That RUclips name of yours makes me bust out laughing every time. Secondly, NO WAY I MISSED THAT !!!! I did not know the aero ones add additional reach. Very nice to know. (Then again, I haven't ridden the Classic ones the bike came stock)
As always, another great video DC! I don't think that I would go down the route of Canyon based on the lack of the ability to customize at time of purchase, my thought is that when I am laying out some bigger amounts ($) I expect to get very close to exactly what I want at time of purchase ~ just my expectations! From what I have learned about Canyon from you and others, the overall bike (and brand) seems like a quality product. One interesting observation, when I was watching some of your riding clips through the video, when you were on the hoods, my initial impression was that you appeared to be a little more upright or maybe 'cramped' ~ that was just an immediate impression. When you then mentioned later in the video that you were running a shorter stem than would be ideal, that impression made more sense to me!!
BATMAN!!!! Thank you as always! You are the embodiment of "engagement" that makes my channel possible! The stock geo on the stem is only 90mm whereas I would normally run 100 or 110 based on its frame reach measurements. I will eventually fix this but at the moment just too lazy to do all the work especially with all the episodes in the pipeline. As a package, setting aside some minor annoyances, the bike ticks enough boxes to be a super bike although a bit too homogenized so to speak. I will definitely have a ton to say when the proper review episode drops. Thank you again for hanging out with me!
It is a sore spot for sure. I get their business model and their way to optimize. Their bikes are definitely great in performance and value IF AND ONLY IF you somehow can fit on their stock measurements. If not, you gotta spend extra to get the correct fit which then might push the final check amount to be about equal to others out on the market.
Only defense I have is... Unlike the proverbial dentists and lawyers who buy fancy bikes to just show and ride 10 miles a week, I actually ride absolute shit out of all my bikes. Also, I do let some bikes go when someone makes an offer or before the residual value drops too much.
Lazy…hardly. Love the shorts and top combination. Still can’t wait for your top ten bikes to ride.: Comfort bike, speed bike, handling bike then overall top bike. Keep those awesome videos coming!
Hi Stuart. Thanks! That may be a fun video to put together for sure despite my sample size would be small especially spread across all flavors like mentioned.
@@DiabeticCycling honestly you have personally ridden a lot of bikes. Your thoughts are objective ad well thought out. Same height as any of my other bikes if you have been following. Also, I always tend to prefer slightly smaller fitting bikes. Ya know... they say black makes you look slim and white adds 10 lbs... XD

Hello there! You don't appear to be very aero in the video. In my opinion, you should be using at least a 20mm longer stem. You saddle appears to be a bit low as well for aero. My philosophy is that if you're not resorting to a triathlon saddle to relieve soft tissue pain, then you're not aero :).
Hi. Exactly what I mentioned in my previous episode and also a bit in this episode. The stem length really needs to be about 10-20mm longer for my usual geo.
Short people never look as aero as taller guys. U can only raise your saddle up, depending your insem height. If u look Pros, just compare Quintana and Co to tall guys, with a huge saddle to bar drop, they look much more aero, and they are, even if they sit higher.
@@Gianniz27 Hello! I slightly disagree, it's more about above leg body length helping aero. Remco is short, check out his podium with Ganna who is a foot taller, but very aero, due to long upper body.
Christ... I just noticed auto-spellcheck changed Aeroad to Abroad on my lower third... SMH... I should've caught that, sorry everyone!
What if “Abroad” was branding genius? 😅
Not a problem
When you will upload the side by side comparison between SL8 and Supersix? 🙂
They specifically designed the bike to be as aerodynamic with the 50mm wheels as the old version was with 62mm wheels
Great storytelling
