That was such a awesome hunt!! I tried it In Honduras, but wasn’t able to pull the rubber strap back far enough to penetrate the lion fish. Even that reef was amazing. I loved all the footage. Guess next time we go to Florida to dive we will have to buy a spear gun!! 🎉
You should use a polespear for Lionfish instead of a spear gun. It’s a lot easier to use, but just make sure you have the proper one and the band isn’t too long so you can get a harder shot. Also, the tip is very important. I have a video on my Instagram and TikTok that tells all about the equipment if you want to take a look at that.
Great video! Thank you for getting out there to catch these horrible invasive fish. BTW, love the marine biology lessons! Learning about the native fish is really fun!
I have zero diving experience but this looks like a lot of fun, having said that is there any companies that welcome tourists to help control the population?
Interesting idea, though I can imagine there would be substantial liability and potentially other legal barriers involved in running a business where you hand weapons to untrained tourists and ask them to go and kill as many fish as they can. Some of these areas and the species that live there may be protected; additionally, it would only be a matter of time before someone was injured and sued the company under their commercial policy alleging that the company “knew or should have known” that giving weapons to untrained tourists was negligent and an activity likely to result in injury.
I wonder if you can get rid of the lionfish in the North Pacific it is crazy on how many Lionfish are in the North Pacific like when I went to Cannon Beach, Oregon I went diving and there like 100 lionfish I saw
I wish these were landscape my husband loves salt water fish and we want to watch these for all the different creatures 😢 its hare to watch on a tv tho :(
A video from another content provider showed the liver of a lionfish and it was practically covered in yellow fat. He was saying that the lionfish gorge themselves on so many baby fish that they are developing fatty liver disease. That stopped me from feeling sorry for the glutinous things.
@@Sinderbad they didn't choose to be invasive though they just want to survive and thats most likely just a result of them being stripped of their usual prey and the fact that nothing tries to avoid them.
@ so what, we just let them eat all the babies of the native sea life until nothing is left and then what, they turn cannibalistic (if they don’t all die of fatty liver disease first)? What is the point if they are just going to die by eventually starving to death anyway? But you obviously have no compassion for the native species that Are dying because They are being gluttonously slaughtered themselves by something that shouldn’t be there in the first place. Thats despicable, I think you are as mindless as the lionfish are.

How long will it take to effectively eradicate lion fish? What would it take to get rid of them?
Do you sell them to the restaurants or do you give them away? I admire your dedication to preserve the reefs and wish that I could join you!
They sell them, it helps finance the project.
Great job my man 😊
That's awesome. I've only hunted lionfish once, in Belize ( got 3). How far from shore are you in this video?

FEED THE EELS AND OTHER FISH THE LION FISH
Problem with that is that eels and sharks started attacking divers because they were looking for that food they were generously given.
