- La rencontre au sommet de quatre mousquetaires du Jazz ! Si Manu Katche à la batterie et Richard Bona à la basse ont déjà conquis le public de Marciac dans différents contextes, c'était une première pour le guitariste Mike Stern et le pianiste-claviériste Niels Lan Doky. Ce sont des techniciens aguerris à tous les styles de jazz qui allient un toucher extraordinaire et une grande maîtrise sonore. Leur groupe, propagateur discret d’une fusion dispensant des frissons parfois exotiques, porte aussi sur une ouverture vers les sonorités rock. Le côté explosif des personnalités musicales de ce quartet est une nouvelle fois détecté en « live ».

To me the short solo of richard bona was phenomenal. Fusion at it's best. They are the masters.

Chaque soir,on se disait :c'est le meilleur concert !! Difficile d'en classer un au dessus des autres... Tous ceux que nous avions choisis ont été superbes et celui-ci a été aussi mémorable...

Superbe exemple de domptage de False Note avec un début de tune fantastique à ce point de vue, et des solos absolument édifiants...., et c'est génial avec ceux là....., et on en redemande.

J'adooore Stern. Aussi, j'ai découvert Bona avec Metheny au temps de "speaking of now" et y m'épate tjrs autant avec son flegme.Les mecs se mélangent,font des bœufs d'enfer."Allo Marcel tu veux pas remplacer Raymond" et "paf"chef d'oeuvre.

The injury that Mike had has affected his picking hand. But I’m glad that he’s still playing.
Ya.... Not as clean as before
Still sounds "good" but yes the right hand action looks a bit "robotic" now, seems to have more to do with the wrist than the hand actually.

The bar was set by Return To Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Lifetime, Weather Report, and others in the seventies. I think it is not humanly possible to raise it any higher. When I win the lottery, I'm going to buy drums that look and sound that beautiful.

Theirs a ton of bad ass fusion music made after the seventies - including Los lobotomy’s , karizma , Greg mathieson’s jazz ministry with Connie colaiuta , Michael landau and Abe laboriel sr . Chick corea electric band , mike stern , Hiram Bullock , Cab , tribal tech etc...
