It is possible to get the same items just not the same brands. Fresh produce: bagged salad, baby carrots, mushrooms, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, parsley, cilantro, head of broccoli, head of cauliflower, green onions, cabbage, red, yellow & green peppers, LG tomatoes, avocados, jalapeno peppers, poblano pepper, etc.
Example of canned goods: pinto beans, green beans, corn, peas, etc.
Example of dairy products: gal of full fat milk, lg eggs, cottage cheese, cream cheese, butter, sour cream, etc.
Meats: ground beef, chicken breasts, chicken legs, chicken thighs, pork loin, pork chops, etc.
Drinks: orange juice, lemon juice, box of soda, etc. Dry goods: loaf of bread, tortillas (corn/flour), boxed cereal, coffee, coffee creamer, regular plain chips, tortilla chips, pasta, oats, flour, grits, etc. You can purchase the same amount/size/weight) of products that both stores carry and show the actual difference of the total prices from both stores.

Here's some actual info that might help.
    1) Never buy paper products or toiletries at Aldi. Walmart is ALWAYS cheaper.
    2) The only meat that is CONSISTENTLY cheaper at Aldi is pork half loin and 80/20 ground beef (if you buy the 1lb frozen packages)
3)Yes, technically, the deli meat that he bought at Aldi is cheaper but that brand is extremely low quality and tastes awful!
    4) While the crackers/cookies at Aldi may seem cheaper, you need to look at the amount in the package compared to Walmart brand. By the oz, you are actually paying more at Aldi.
Overall, Aldi has gotten a lot more expensive especially in the last year. For a one stop shop, Walmart is a better choice for anyone on a budget!

However, I have noticed increasing prices there over the last couple of years and started closely comparing especially taking note of the per unit prices.
