A very sad commentary on the decline of the USA when you have to go Japan to hear a Christmas concert. That being said, I love these kids. They put on a very good show. I look forward to this time of year when you get to see/hear great Christmas shows from Japanese bands on RUclips. I have yet to see a bad show. I would pay good money to attend these performances. Despite the darned feedback that marred the performance, the young man who played the clarinet on Memories Of You was superb. He clearly put a lot of heart into the song and it showed. I was almost in tears. It was almost as if Benny Goodman came back to Japan for one last show.
It is a rare to see a Japanese school band so happy when they play. They are clearly enjoying themselves. It was almost as if the band leader told everyone "play as loud as you can!" Great show!
Just watched this video again and couldn't resist another comment.These youngsters really get Jazz,the body-language of all those Amazing soloists and those seated behind shows that in spades.Great conductor too! I love this band!!

Absolutely LOVE the music, the very talented musicians, the enthusiasm, the entire musical concert. What I find sad about America is that bands in most American high schools do not teach or play jazz as well as an average high school band in Japan. This sad because jazz is an original American art form now mostly practiced in Japan and Europe and mostly forgotten here in America. So thank you Japan for practicing and perpetuating this wonderful art form for us. By the way, this is no average band. KUHS band is great Man Oh Man. they even develop great improv musicians - oh my - September !!! Thanks for posting.
This is only the second performance I've seen by this band/orchestra and I couldn't be more impressed!! A truly professional standard with absolutely Awesome soloing from all but that trumpet solo at24:27 just blew me away and I love that cat on the clarinet!! Everybody's clearly having fun and loving what they're doing I find it heartwarming,inspiring and hugely entertaining!
Don't knock the trumpet at 24.27. it's a difficult minor key solo and few could do it better than she does. Point out and praise the good stuff, but don't kids doing their best. By the way, I think she does a great job - all my praise to her!

Sorry if poor grammar lead you astray.While the comment was made 2 months ago on only my second sight of this band,during the next 24 hours I watched every video they have on RUclips -Most of them twice!! and since then I've watched them on a daily basis.They are World Class!!

This particular Christmas video, several times because of the great sax virtuosos in September - -what an ending. To my mind this band is unique in the world - a full symphonic band dedicated to fine jazz. 16, 17 18 year old musicians - playing improve. All honor and glory to the kids and especially their instructors and director. They make the world a happier, better place for jazz fans like me. Hang in there jazz fans!

RUclipsに上がっているのは全部鑑賞した方がいい。
どの動画もいいけど「黒いオルフェ」が自分は好き。
あと、ド素人の私が言うのもなんだけど音響のセッティングは大事だなと思った。

中学の頃に、合同練習したことがあるんですけど、心の底から楽しくて音が美しくて一緒に吹いた時感動で泣いてしまいました。本当に応援しています！素晴らしい音楽を届けてくださりいつもありがとうございます！
煽り運転は絶対にしてはいけませんが、パーカス隊の煽りパフォーマンスは最高！
常連の皆さんには申し訳ありませんが、初めて近大付属を聞きました。個々の力量もさることながら、全体の音圧に圧倒されました

Except for some younger/middle school bands, I have never seen a Japanese school band that did not look happy.

They haven"t lost a step. Excellent soloists. Thank you, the band makes the music feel comfortable, even with the added players over last year.
