At 5'4 and below with someone above 6'2 starts looking weird lol. I can't even imagine 5'5 let alone 5'1 with 6'5. Like a father with his little daughter. At 6 ½ ft, I could hardly imagine myself with a partner shorter than 5'5. Heck I would even go rather with a women 2 inch taller than me (which is very rare) instead of someone 8 inches shorter to me.

I always find it so weird in general that people care about height. Humans in homogenous genetic tribes were similar heights, men taller than the women. In multi-cultural melting pots you are exposed to genetic diversity, meaning very short women and very tall men. If your generic ancestry comes from shorter people than average, you should also expect a partner who is shorter than average. Not everyone can have the tallest man available. If you want to climb the genetic height ladder, take one step at a time. There are no shortcuts. So be flexible with "preferences" and don't let it consume you to bad decisions

And I never really dated, I just kinda fell into stuff with already well known friends. I was too shy. Now at 29 I realize I really need to learn to like myself before expecting anyone else to. And being kind sounds like a low bar ask of someone, but having someone I consider a kind soul to love would make liking myself a whole lot easier, then I'll know I can make better choices. The average height of men in Japan is 5'7" it's like women in the United States want men who are 5'9". At least Japan is more realistic with 50% of men entering the standard. compared to the United States which wants 6 feet which is only 15% of the male population in the United States

I personally think it comes from the interest in the jump from 5 to 6 feet, even though a man who is 5'11 can say he is 6 feet and the women can't tell the difference. It's like when an item is sold for $399, it misleads people into thinking it's less than it actually is, same with the difference between 5'11 and 6 feet when in reality it is only 1 inch.

Their ideal height is the average male height for japanese men which is 170 and for women it's around 160. Which means a 10cm difference. In the USA the average male height is 175 cm and the average female height is 162, a difference of about 13 centimeters.

China and South Korea have their standards height sky rocketting since decades, it will soon reach the western standard. I’m 5’7. Imo height doesn’t even matter to begin with for me. If I find girl who is taller than me then that’s fine too as long as we can connect. Height can be changed too. Just cut the legs of your partner, if you want him to be shorter than you, or cut your own legs if you want your partner to be taller! So simple and I highly recommend it to use when you think you found the love of your life, but not really happy with that height thing. The reason why many girls in japan say they prefer "170cm or higher" is thats the average here (171-172cm). In the other words, they aren't particularly into short guys if every other criteria is at the same level and taller is better unless you are too tall and/or too lanky. Just like most of the parts in the world.

Funny cos as a woman it’s only the REALLY short women in my experience that say this. I know multiple hits UNDER 4,11 that chase tall guys. One (4,10) went after me friend that is 6,5😭😭😭most normal/short height women I know are fine with average height men. For me anything over 5,6 would’ve been fine (I’m 5,2). Honestly, their height preferences aren't unreasonable. The average height of a man in Japan is 5' 7.25". So, they're looking for guys who are of an average height. Compare that to women in the USA who almost entirely prefer men over 6'0" tall when the average height of a man in the USA is 5'9".
170cm is the average Japanese male height. It’s not that unreasonable. To be fair, height should be a disqualified for a relationship, but that’s a different discussion.

Lol I find these videos so annoying. I hate how they generalize a whole nation based off of a sample size of less than 10 people. I am 5’9 and my husband is 5’2. I never once thought he was too short and in fact now love his height. We joke about being opposite heights but we agree we love each other the way we are. Word of advice to shorter guys: confidence is key. If you are so insecure about your height it will overshadow your other great qualities.

As a Japanese woman whose height is 173cm(5’8”？) and have a shorter white boyfriend, I definitely agree. I weigh about 50kg(110lbs) and have completely flat chest. This has been more problem than my height until I met him. I HATE to be advised by people who think that all women want to be skinny and that shaming skinny body is 〝positive〟. I’m sure my body is considered very ugly in his country, Brazil. I really appreciate him for not saying anything about it.
The more important reason is that half the doorways in the country aren't designed to take such a height. I would say about 180cm is where you start to regularly run into the ducking problem.
I'm just about 6'0/184 cm. I'm pretty sure Japan has people way taller than I am. Average height in Japan is around 5'7. I'm Finnish and I am just about taller than the average height for men which is around 5'11/182 cm.
I mean Japanese men tend to be on the shorter side. If the guys were taller the women would probably have a higher height req. I'm from India and here 5'7 would've been a good height a few decades ago because the average height was shorter for men. And now everyone prefers 6ft+ guys lol.

As a 5’2” girly who has dated both someone taller and shorter than me, I agree that 5’7” is the perfect height for my partner. Cause we both don’t have to strain our necks when talking to each other, or kissing. And I can still wear my heels without towering over him. And being kind sounds like a low bar ask of someone, but having someone I consider a kind soul to love would make liking myself a whole lot easier, then I'll know I can make better choices. I just entered into a new career that I want to last my lifetime so that's kinda taking up most of my time now and I'm not even thinking about dating. And I wanna go to therapy. But one day when I'm open to it I hope I meet someone great! I doubt their height will be the first thing I notice when that happens.

Funny cos as a woman it’s only the REALLY short women in my experience that say this. I know multiple hits UNDER 4,11 that chase tall guys. One (4,10) went after me friend that is 6,5😭😭😭most normal/short height women I know are fine with average height men. For me anything over 5,6 would’ve been fine (I’m 5,2). Tbh, it depends on the guy. I'm 168cm (5'6) and prefer a guy around my height. But not if it means I can't ever wear a heel. If they can accept that I might look taller occasionally then it's perfect.

Lol I find these videos so annoying. I hate how they generalize a whole nation based off of a sample size of less than 10 people. I am 5’9 and my husband is 5’2. I never once thought he was too short and in fact now love his height. We joke about being opposite heights but we agree we love each other the way we are. Word of advice to shorter guys: confidence is key. If you are so insecure about your height it will overshadow your other great qualities.

Being above 6 ft is actually slightly detrimental for dating in Japan since people see you as "too tall".
The more important reason is that half the doorways in the country aren't designed to take such a height. I would say about 180cm is where you start to regularly run into the ducking problem.

As a 5’2” girly who has dated both someone taller and shorter than me, I agree that 5’7” is the perfect height for my partner. Cause we both don’t have to strain our necks when talking to each other, or kissing. And I can still wear my heels without towering over him. But I don’t really mind someone shorter than 5’7” as long as they don’t mind the height difference when I do wear heels.
These are actually reasonable expectations and desires. How could anyone wish a man to tower over her by more than 7 inches.
