Those polygonal trees and blurry textures add so much "soul" to the original game. Who cares about more detail and better lighting that reinforces good art direction when low polygons is where the "soul" is at? - Silent Hill 2 "fans"
I mean this in the most disrespectful sense as possible, F a censored and butchered "remake" made worse in almost every way. Also using the horribly done "remaster" is not a proper way to compare it imo.
I played the original when it came out in 2001. I fell in love with that game the minute I played it. This remake is still a day one buy for me and I’m really excited for it. To hell with the whiners.

3:12 I like how the game is looking, but I can't help but notice that camera movement... usually, the camera would do a slow zoom into the character, since it's an introspective monologue, or zoom into the distance at the lake... but instead, the camera moves to the side and shows that garbage container in the back of the scene... and since the camera movement guides your eyes, well, you end up staring that container thinking if theres something inside or if it's relevant to the story... maybe it's a hint to that theory/fact (?) about James hiding something in the back of his car? Just that this time he hides it in certain container? Lol
I dont think this is the actual original, but the port to the PS3 HD collection. That version is known to have lots of glitches, thus why people prefer the original PS2 copy
The shadows look a little worse and less cinematic especially at the intro cutscene but overall it still looks pretty nice compared the original, it probably has some potential

Damn! I feel sorry for Blobler team. Seeing the comparison between the two games really makes you realize how soulless and generic the remake looks. I mean, just look at the panoramic views of the original game; it makes it look so unique. And Pyramid Head in the original looks so mysterious and iconic, whereas in the remake, he looks like a generic first boss from any game. And if we include all that DEI woke stuff, well... this game is going to be dead on arrival.
As a big fan of the very first Silent Hill game and franchise overall, I was very dissapointed with the second part. It was worse in every way gameplay- and horror-wise. And from the words of development team, SH2 almost killed the franchise that otherwise could be more successful whether it was built on the ground of the first game, rather than splitting the audience leaving fans of the first game dissapointed. So I really like new version more in terms of directing, mimic and movement in these scenes. Won't buy it anyway.
