Your choice is to either stay in the car hoping another car will come along, but your car is at risk of slipping off the ledge at any moment, and sinking and you drown to death. Or, you jump out and hope to out-swim the crocs in time. I can only imagine the horror in that woman's mind at that time even with the boat being there, let alone if it wasn't.

This is in Kakadu national park, in the middle of nowhere, that’s why there’s no bridge there. It doesn’t make economic sense to build major infrastructure in places where almost no one will ever use it. It’s also on aboriginal land and they don’t want the natural landscape blighted with ugly utilitarian bridges. This spot, Cahill’s crossing, has become somewhat of a tourist attraction because of its unusually dense population of crocodiles, which gather in large numbers at this road crossing to feed on the fish that get trapped either side of the crossing point.
I have a question for you. You say "no one will ever use the bridge" but in this one video they show 3 trucks, two of them pretty large, so it seems it would seem to be a trading route. I don't really see how the natives would be in need of large trucks carrying tractors, so those trucks must be from regular companies. And this is just one video of the tons of other videos that show LOTS of vehicles going over that river. So, can you explain why you, and most other commenters, say a bridge would be useless because "noone would use it"? Thanks
I'm amazed she didn't ask to get the ute on the boat. Hows her, almost going to drown or swim with crocs, but here grab me handbag and this bag, oh and this one. Classic
Aboriginal owned land on one side and national park on the other. The government can’t build a bridge there even if it was plausible to do so which it isn’t.
@@coconutman2486 I care. I care a lot. I really love crocodiles and am associated with them. Seeing one with an issue like that is simply heartbreaking to me.
Respect for the rescue people's His mistake it was because he drive after truck because the water has find a way to get down in the Waley and take up the small car
Did it ever occur to you that there could be crocs close to both banks of the river ? Does matter how fast you are if the crocs are already there in the place you are swimming toward.
I wouldnt get in that water, even if i had the skills of an Olympic swimmer. And the crocs. Nope id sit in that truck with a window down and wait for help.
I read the reason for no bridge being built , is because the local aboriginal people do not want it impacting the land , and they have the say in this matter .

Pity really as the truck backed up and could have pulled her out in ten minutes. Toyotas bull bar would hold for a quick tow. Easy job, crocs are no big problem...unless you fall in of course.

I'm surprised the crocodiles don't eat the truck. Them some big boys.

WTF...!
Not out in the middle of nowhere.
It's Aboriginal land. Government aren't allowed to build one without permission. The Aboriginals have said no everytime it's been offered.

InfoForU Australia is a 3rd world country they can't afford it.
@Young Nomad I applaud their decision. It's fine the way it is. Don't need bridges ruining the atmosphere.
build a bridge this is so dangerous! its a risky life i wouldn't cross that river even thou is low tide hmm😰.
Suzanna Jacob would you want to be a construction worker and build a bridge there?
Suzanna Jacob yeah but that's the middle of nowhere. I am guessing the government don't want to invest there money there.
A bridge is a must for it otherwise it is too risky to cross it.
It's Arnhem land. Government can't touch it without permission. Aboriginals don't want it.
Don't build a bridge. I wish to see humans get dragged away by crocodiles and eaten.
why dont ur gov build a simple proper bridge there knowing they already built that stone age passage?
Because it middle of nowhere, mate...

It’s very remote, national park on one side and native land on the other. You need a permit to go here. Idiots still seem to get in though.
There are these things called bridges. They’ve been around for thousands of years. They’re handy.
This particular crossing is within aboroginal territory from what ive read, they are against any bridge being build at this crossing.
The other side is a national park. The area is very remote!
Thank God that boat came and got them out! Imagine what that would to your mind if stuck out there a long time!
specially with hungry crocs in the water I wouldn't risk it.

Incredible - around 3.46, the River changes direction and flows the other way..... !
The guy talking in the video says it high tide so maybe it’s the tide going in and out.

And the river rises 51 feet in the wet
Croc:- Oi mate engine stalled.
Does this river have reverse flow? It pushed the truck one way but in the following clips the water was flowing the other way..?
Jeff Segura it's the tides I guess. It was high tide when the pickup got washed off
no..? The wake of the truck pulled the back side of the ute while the front side managed to stay in front of the wake.
It's salt water. The tides are quite big in Australia, that's why you see the water going forward and backwards and then again forward.
I'm amazed she didn't ask to get the ute on the boat. Hows her, almost going to drown or swim with crocs, but here grab me handbag and this bag, oh and this one. Classic

Yes. Too sad.😢😢😢😢
No thats some stupid monitoring device installed by the gov.. they tranquilize the animal.

Drafting behind a truck doesn't work at water crossings. Lucky they were saved. Probably the worst possible place for it to happen
Why there are no stones on both side. Why only one side
The back end of the Ute has no weight in it to withstand the water flow.
I told my wife it’s safe for her to cross that river on a skateboard.. I am hoping she tries it!
Well, it's like africa.
Zebra, wilderbeest & other animals crossing rivers.
