Great yet again Davie you are the best teacher on you tube, would love to see you tie a peter ross wet fly, love the channel look forward to all your vids.
Just watched this tutorial great fly the Daiwl Bach. Nice tie 👍
Great tie again Davie. When you cut the organza at a taper (full length) you'll get the tapered fibers on the hook.
agree..Dave is best of the best!! (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y) /5... :)
👍
you fellows ae what make flyfishing a lofty endevour.
Davie. I'm going to try finding some Organza that is just a bit wider than you're using in this video and tie some peach patterns. I think it will lay nicely in the water with a maribou tail. Any thoughts on this idea? Thanks again.
Does the organza take permanent marker well, for those of us who don't have enough dye projects at home to warrant keeping dye on hand? Also, I noticed that you used a coat of head cement (varnish) over the super glue on the fly's head. Is that necessary to prevent the glue from drying a milky color? I've had this happen before and assumed it was the fault of budget glue or that the thread had too much wax on it. If I wanted the hard, built-up, glossy head, I think I might just opt for a medium viscosity UV resin and use one coat. Thanks for this and all of your tying videos.

Hi Ken,
It's certainly worth a go at colouring the organza with a permanent marker if you haven't got this colour, you might get lucky and come across some organza in this colour as there's many on the market...Superglue will go white if left so coating it with the varnish stops this happing...I also prefer to coat the uv resin with a coat of varnish as well as it helps to keep it clear...
All the very best Davie...
Thanks for the advice, Davie. I've been tying flies off and on for forty years now, and I doubt that I could match your skill if I had yet another forty...
Hi, Davie type of dye do you use for Organza? I use the acid based dyes for hair and feathers, but I don't believe they will take to nylon. Thanks
Hi Steve,
I use Veniard dyes and when I dyed the organza it was with crossed fingers that the dye would take so I was really happy when it did as you said most of these synthetic fibres do not take the dye at all..
All the very best Davie..
Great pattern davie 👍👍 I have a jungle cock cape but all the nails are rather big now i.e. Salmon etc have you any ideas as to what I can do with it as it seems a shame to bin it .?
Hi Steve,
Anyone that tyes salmon flies would be very happy to swap you for the big eyes so if you go on any of the forums I'm sure someone would be happy to swap you for them..As you can see I keep the smaller eyes and even the split ones for flies like this one, I'm glad you like it as it is a good pattern to have in your box..
All the very best Davie
