Really struggled until I found these great videos. Thank you Davie for being so much help in getting my fly tying to a really proficient level from you i have learnt precision thank you again!
Davie, it's funny that just a few days ago you asked folks to make suggestions on some new patterns for you to tie.Well you must be a mind reader because this is the fly I was going to suggest you tie.Thank you so much for the great work! RW
Hi Davie, it's a joy to watch you lay down the foundation for a tapered body. I hope you had a great Christmas and will have a healthy and happy New Year.
Thank you sincerely davie for this pattern. Keen amateurs like myself have so much to thank the competition anglers for. in the various contributions they make to all aspects of fly fishing, and fly patterns in particular. Could you tie the top 5 river competition flies as a mini-series? Thanks for all you do for us.
Lovely wee fly, Diamond Brite is a bit hard to get I ended up sending to Poland for it and the postage was not cheap. Anyway Davie, that was another touch of class with the build of this Pupa, everything looks wonderful and I look forward to the Quilled version. Take care Ali
Excellent Davie as always ,you have a very easy way of explaining the various ways of tying but just one question regarding the method of fishing this pupa , would it be positioned as a top dropper in a team of three flies or on the point as I was informed to always put your heaviest on the top dropper ,so this could go top dropper , second maybe a Diawl Back and then some translucent buzzer ,or could you have this as a second dropper and a very lite dry on the point .I am a mere beginner in fishing buzzers but hit into a 5lb Rainbow the other day at the Llyn Brenig using on advice a team of two ,that being point was a Diawl Bach and the second was a small yellow glass head buzzer on a No8 floating line with a 12ft leader Any help greatly appreciated and thanks for another great presentation
Hi Stuart, It would work anywhere on the cast depending on the other flies you are fishing, having a Diawl-Bach in the middle and a quilled buzzer or something similar would work really well..I have used it many times with a dry either on the point or top dropper which helps hold them closer to the surface..I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for the kind words... All the very best Davie..
Davie, I am unable to find the pattern for this fly in rust anywhere, Any idea? I know you may do a quilled version at some point and I'm looking forward to it but cant find anything for the rust. I have tied around a dozen of the black now and it is a great wee fly, even used the marabou on a few. Thanks so much for the dressing. Do not bother responding if you can't help with the rust version I do not wish to take up your time.ATVB Ali
Hi Ali, I have attached a link to the Muskin Rust for you to see, it a simple dressing like the black version...It's no bother so if you ever need to ask a question please do... All the very best Davie.. www.fullingmill.co.uk/Muskins-Rust-S12-UK
Hi Bradley, I was using the Tiemco 4 inch tungsten scissors in the video which are really nice to use though I broke the tips off them by dropping them on the floor not once but twice which is a shame as I did like them a lot...I'm using 4 inch Razor scissors at the moment which I like, there's a few companies that sell them and the ones I have came from Loon... All the very best Davie
Hi Trevor, I would try this but I would replace the breathers with a hackle, a black or even a badger hen would be a good choice. It's both a wet fly and a trout fly...I'm glad you like it... All the very best Davie
Hi Fraser, Definitely as it's a nice style, there's a few patterns out there now as it has been fishing well especially in the competitions... All the very best Davie...

Nice fly would that be a wet fly? And the breathers look good long as well would it matter if they where keep long? Is this a trout fly?
