That is something I just found out after seeing your comment. There were multiple people including the drivers of both the semi and fog truck saying it was clear. They also did testing which showed the same. Seems like a case of maybe trying to spare the driver's family's feelings. Given the time of day, passengers and belongings going 80 seems more likely due to having fallen asleep.
Driver Ronnie Harrison was going about 70mph, while the truck ahead had slowed to 35mph in response to another truck in the opposite lane flashing red warning lights about the insecticide spray. The oncoming truck wasn't currently spraying insecticide but it was warning that it was about to start spraying.
Thank you, a year late but I was about to make this same comment. The police report indicated the insecticide vehicle was not spraying insecticide at the time of the crash. And actually it was due to this accident that semis now have the bar with reflective tape that hangs from the back of semi-trailers, called the "Mansfield Bar."
One last myth....Jayne Mansfield "did not" get decapitated. Mansfield's wig was thrown to the side of the road, where it was mistaken in news stories for her head.
She was certainly an interesting person in her “private” life but not here to judge. Lot of people think she was decapitated in the accident but she was not. She had crushed skull and injuries more akin to a scalping. That rumor had started after her wig was laying on the ground or in back of the car, don’t remember which. I loved Mariska Hargitay before I knew who her parents were. I seen her on a TV show downtown. She is amazing!! Her mom was a great mom. You can see that on her interviews when she brought her kids❤. It's so sad that her life was cut short 😢
Sam Brody, her boyfriend was an asswhole and was probably goading the young driver to go too fast. Brody probably had a penchant for driving too fast and drinking himself, that's probably why they'd been in so many crashes, but I agree it's completely ridiculous. Nowadays he'd end up in prison for drunk driving or have his license taken before he could have that many probably.
It is totally false that a bug fogging truck was fogging at that time. The bug truck would have had warning vehicles front and back as per law. The bug truck did have a red blinking light on it which made the semi in front of the Buick slow down. The police reports all reply that it was a very clear night. Cause of accident was lack of attention and very high speed of the Buick. One can try to spin it anyway they want but it comes down to slower semi, car hauling ass, Kaboom. Period end.

The police report on actress Jayne Mansfield's auto accident in June of 1967, clearly states that no trucks were spraying insecticide on the side of the road for mosquitoes that night. The tractor trailer that Ronnie Harrison (the driver) slammed into had slowed down because the truck in front of him was driving slow but not spraying any chemicals. The very first truck which was smaller than the tractor trailer behind it insisted he had turned off the mosquito sprayers quite awhile before the fatal accident. The 1966 Buick Electra that was involved in the car accident had belong to Gus Steven's who was the owner of the nightclub where Jayne performed her very last singing gig. Jayne and her current boyfriend Sam Brody (who was married to someone else at the time of the accident) had tried to rent a Limousine or Rolls Royce for either a TV or radio interview the following morning in Slidell, La but couldn't get either car due to bad credit on both parties. The denial of a car then put Jayne in a tight spot to get to her interview in Slidell. Samuel (Sam) Brody had borrowed in the past approximately $ 250,000 from the mob in order to buy Jayne some fine jewelry and other items but he was having a hard time paying back the money. Unfortunately, for Sam the mob threatened him to pay up or else and once Jayne heard about the money problems she agreed to help Sam pay off the loan by singing and performing monologues in some really run down nightclub's. Gus had heard about Jayne and Sam not having a car to go to the interview and offered to loan the couple his 1966 Buick Electra. (later it was noted that Mrs.Steven's wasn't very keen on the idea). Gus then asked Ronnie Harrison if he would drive the couple into Slidell, La because he knew the route very well. Ronnie's girlfriend was Gus Steven's daughter and she was pregnant with his baby girl. He was in no shape to drive Jayne and the children due to lack of sleep and a lot stress with his planned elopement with his girlfriend, and the impending birth of their baby daughter. The 3 adult's in the car consisted of Ronnie, Jayne, and Sam. The 3 children were Zoltan,Miklos,and future actress Mariska. Now that everybody was in the car Ronnie started driving down the dark road at more than a safe speed. The original seating position's in the car were Ronnie was seated on the driver's left side side with Jayne seated in the middle with at least one child and 2 dog's on her lap, and Sam was on the right passenger side. The group stopped briefly at a little store/diner off the road to use the bathroom and to buy some soda and snacks. The group then got back into their car and at this time Jayne switch seat's with Sam who was now in the middle and Jayne put one of her children in the back seat of the car so they could sleep. Once Jayne did all that she got back into the car's front seat and then put her two dog's onto her lap. Ronnie the driver then took off at a high rate of speed down the dark and winding road with speed's reaching nearly 70 to 80 mph. Ronnie had had 2 speeding tickets in the past and that might show he had a lead foot and a bit impatient. He couldn't have known that the tractor/trailer truck on the dark road had slowed down due to a much smaller truck also driving slow in front of him. Poor Ronnie didn't see the truck in time and slammed into the back of the truck with such force the car went under the bottom of the truck and caused the roof to peel back like a can opener. Ron, Sam, and Jayne were killed instantaneously along with her two cute little dogs !! All 3 front passengers suffered severe trauma to the head (scalped) along with multiple fractures, cut's, and laceration's all over their bodies. Jayne may have seen what was happening in front of her at the very last moment and in a defensive mode put her hand up on the dashboard and broke it upon impact. The 3 adults didn't suffer and that brings some comfort in knowing. The news media then jumped onto the story that Jayne had been decapitated due to a photo that shows a blonde batch of hair caught in the car windshield. Jayne had a habit of wearing wigs and that was the reader was seeing not her head !!! I have only seen two photos of Ronnie after the crash, and one shows him still in the driver seat with his forearm and hand on the dashboard. The second photo shows him lying down with a sheet covering him with his feet sticking out. The picture of Sam lying down on the ground outside of the car is very graphic and hard to make out if it's him but of course it was. The 2 photos I've seen of Jayne shows her lying down outside of the car and the second one has her on more on the shoulder of the road. The photos are very gory but does show Jayne wasn't decapitated !! I haven't come across a autopsy report for Ronnie and Sam but I'm fairly certain that they both received substantial injuries. The autopsy report on Jayne is pretty through and the toxicology reading for alcohol was .14% along with some barbiturates (a sleeping pill). The three children did received moderate injuries with one of the boy's having a broken arm and Mariska having a deep gash on the side of her head. The whole scenario of this car accident along with losing their mother must have been a nightmare for the 3 children and I'm sure it took quite awhile for them to heal emotionally. Jayne was making a lot of bad choices later in her life by excessive drinking, taking diet and sleeping pills, and either joining or just hanging out with Anton LeVay a Satanic cult leader who ran "The Church of Satan" which was located at one time in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. The story behind what may have caused the crash is an interesting one and who knows if curse's can come true. Anton had placed a cursed on Sam because he would mess up his satanic altar when he and Jayne would come to visit him. The story that has been told many times is Anton was so mad at Sam that he grabbed a magazine and then tore it up not knowing that Jayne's picture was on the back and that the photo was ripped at the neck. Anton had also threatened Sam several times that he would be dead in one year, but I can't remember if it would be in a car accident or something else. I personally think Anton was having a temper tantrum and yet because he embraced the dark side who knows what powers that Anton LeVey could truly have possessed !!! Jayne's life was on a downward spiral as she could no longer find movie roles or pretty much any work to support herself and her children. Jayne's addiction's with pills and alcohol was her way of coping with the pressures of not being as famous as she once was and of course finding work in Hollywood. Jayne's father had suffered a major heart attack died while driving when Vera Jean Palmer (Jayne) was just 3 years old. I'm not judging Jayne in anyway and I do wished she could have turned her life around not only for herself but for her lovely children whom Jayne loved dearly. Kenneth Anger wrote a book called: Hollywood Babylon which I believe was released in the early 1970's. Kenneth goes into details the sordid history of Hollywood and there's quite a bit of graphic pictures ( tame by today's standard's). One of the photos depicts Jayne's Mansfield's crumpled 1966 Buick Electra car (actually the car was owned by Gus Stevens who owned the nightclub that Jayne had her last performance) and the car's roof was completely peeled back towards the back window. The picture also clearly shows a blonde wig in the windshield leading to the rumor she had been decapitated (she had been severely scalped). The very last page of the book shows a close up of the Jayne Mansfield's car crash from the bottom of the passenger right hand side. The photo is a very sad sight as it shows one of the dead dog's and several liquor bottles spewed about.Just Terrible 😔

Interesting fact: Most people believe Mansfield was beheaded during the accident because in one picture a "blonde haired head" can be seen hanging in the scrap. This is false. The "blonde haired head" was only a wig Mansfield used to wear. In another picture appears the body of the actress and can clearly be seen she was not beheaded. Another interesting fact is that only 3 days earlier, on June 26th, 1967, another actress, Françoise Dorléac, sister of Catherine Deneuve, was burned alive in a car crash at Villeneuve-Loubet, France.
People forget to mention her 4 tiny dogs that were also in the car, 2 of which died, and 2 survived. And one of her children that was sleeping in the back, is actress Mariska Hargitay from Law and order fame.

Somehow I don't believe in a normal accident. As if help was given afterwards (see accident Mr. Jörg Haider in Austria). Maybe she was too dangerous for Hollywood in the long run.
This video is very erroneous. First of all, according to the police report and eye-witness testimony, it was clear out. Visibility was perfect. Second, it was on HWY 90 about a mile south/west of the Rigolets Bridge. The terrain is mostly flat, there are a few trees, but not big pine trees everywhere. Also, there is Lake Pontchatrain to the right and Lake St. Catherine to the left, with only about 1000 feet of space on either side of the road. The car was not white, it was either green or a teal colored. Lastly, the Johnson truck did not have triple axles in the back.
I grew up in back country of San Diego. . We live in a canyon. The was a steep winding road that lead up from the flatlands... IN the middle of the canyon. City Slikers used to get drunk and missed judged the sharpness of the 1st curve and go plunging off end up at the bottom... We could hear the cars tumbling to the bottom!!! Rarely did they suffer any broken bones... My friend owned a wrecking yard that had cars where people where seriously injured or died.. One thing I noticed in all these cars there was crushed there was always protection for a person lay down and survive... This was before seatbelts!!! I have survived many crashes with nothing more serious then bruises... I NEVER WORE A SEAT BELT!!! & ONLY GOT THROWN OUT OF A VEHICLE BECAUSE THE IT WAS A RAGTOP AND THE ROLL BAR SNAPPED.... Bought a marta police dodge intrepid with no center console. T boned by a work truck booking it- my fault- but that console not being there saved my life. Car was in shape of a U. 3 cracked ribs and spleen they had to keep an eye on for a few days. If console was there I would have been pinned and crushed. 2:17 It looks like Jayne is seated in the middle of the front seat but in the accident photos it showed Brodie in the middle and Jayne on the RH side. There are photos of the wreck where the roof is peeled back, Jayne's body has been taken out an laid to rest on the ground with a cover over it, and the other 2 are still in the car. Brodie's body is positioned right next to the driver and the far RH area of the front seat is unoccupied. It is understandable why Brodie might not want Jayne sitting all cuddled up next to the 20 year old male driver for obvious reasons. Might be a little distracting, lol.

My research says different, that there was no fog from insecticides and vision was not impaired that night. So, was there fog or not? If there was still don't explain why the car going too fast for conditions. Imo, truck was going slow yes, but the car was not because the driver fell asleep at the wheel along with everyone else in the car, kids included and not one was wearing seat belts.

The police report on actress Jayne Mansfield's auto accident in June of 1967, clearly states that no trucks were spraying insecticide on the side of the road for mosquitoes that night. The tractor trailer that Ronnie Harrison (the driver) slammed into had slowed down because the truck in front of him was driving slow but not spraying any chemicals.
The very first truck which was smaller than the tractor trailer behind it insisted he had turned off the mosquito sprayers quite awhile before the fatal accident.
The 1966 Buick Electra that was involved in the car accident had belong to Gus Steven's who was the owner of the nightclub where Jayne performed her very last singing gig.
Jayne and her current boyfriend Sam Brody (who was married to someone else at the time of the accident) had tried to rent a Limousine or Rolls Royce for either a TV or radio interview the following morning in Slidell, La but couldn't
get either car due to bad credit on both parties.
The denial of a car then put Jayne in a tight spot to get to her interview in Slidell.
Samuel (Sam) Brody had borrowed in the past approximately
$ 250,000 from the mob in order to buy Jayne some fine jewelry and other items but he was having a hard time paying back the money.
Unfortunately, for Sam the mob threatened him to pay up or else and once Jayne heard about the money problems she agreed to help Sam pay off the loan by singing and performing monologues in some really run down nightclub's.
Gus had heard about Jayne and Sam not having a car to go to the interview and offered to loan the couple his 1966 Buick Electra. (later it was noted that Mrs.Steven's wasn't very keen on the idea).
Gus then asked Ronnie Harrison if he would drive the couple into Slidell, La because he knew the route very well.
Ronnie's girlfriend was Gus Steven's daughter and she was pregnant with his baby girl.
He was in no shape to drive Jayne and the children due to lack of sleep and a lot stress with his planned elopement with his girlfriend, and the impending birth of their baby daughter.
The 3 adult's in the car consisted of Ronnie, Jayne, and Sam.
The 3 children were Zoltan,Miklos,and future actress Mariska. Now that everybody was in the car Ronnie started driving down the dark road at more than a safe speed.
The original seating position's in the car were Ronnie was seated on the driver's left side side with Jayne seated in the middle with at least one child and 2 dog's on her lap, and Sam was on the right passenger side.
The group stopped briefly at a little store/diner off the road to use the bathroom and to buy some soda and snacks.
The group then got back into their car and at this time Jayne switch seat's with Sam who was now in the middle and Jayne put one of her children in the back seat of the car so they could sleep.
Once Jayne did all that she got back into the car's front seat and then put her two dog's onto her lap.
Ronnie the driver then took off at a high rate of speed down the dark and winding road with speed's reaching nearly 70 to 80 mph.
Ronnie had had 2 speeding tickets in the past and that might show he had a lead foot and a bit impatient.
He couldn't have known that the tractor/trailer truck on the dark road had slowed down due to a much smaller truck also driving slow in front of him.
Poor Ronnie didn't see the truck in time and slammed into the back of the truck with such force the car went under the bottom of the truck and caused the roof to peel back like a can opener.
Ron, Sam, and Jayne were killed instantaneously along with her two cute little dogs !!
All 3 front passengers suffered severe trauma to the head (scalped) along with multiple fractures, cut's, and laceration's all over their bodies.
Jayne may have seen what was happening in front of her at the very last moment and in a defensive mode put her hand up on the dashboard and broke it upon impact.
The 3 adults didn't suffer and that brings some comfort in knowing.
The news media then jumped onto the story that Jayne had been decapitated due to a photo that shows a blonde batch of hair caught in the car windshield.
Jayne had a habit of wearing wigs and that was the reader was seeing not her head !!!
I have only seen two photos of Ronnie after the crash, and one shows him still in the driver seat with his forearm and hand on the dashboard.
The second photo shows him lying down with a sheet covering him with his feet sticking out.
The picture of Sam lying down on the ground outside of the car is very graphic and hard to make out if it's him but of course it was.
The 2 photos I've seen of Jayne shows her lying down outside of the car and the second one has her on more on the shoulder of the road.
The photos are very gory but does show Jayne wasn't decapitated !!
I haven't come across a autopsy report for Ronnie and Sam but I'm fairly certain that they both received substantial injuries.
The autopsy report on Jayne is pretty through and the toxicology reading for alcohol was .14% along with some barbiturates (a sleeping pill).
The three children did received moderate injuries with one of the boy's having a broken arm and Mariska having a deep gash on the side of her head.
The whole scenario of this car accident along with losing their mother must have been a nightmare for the 3 children and I'm sure it took quite awhile for them to heal emotionally.
Jayne was making a lot of bad choices later in her life by excessive drinking, taking diet and sleeping pills, and either joining or just hanging out with Anton LeVay a Satanic cult leader who ran
"The Church of Satan" which was located at one time in the San Francisco
Bay Area of California.
The story behind what may have caused the crash is an interesting one and who knows if curse's can come true.
Anton had placed a cursed on Sam because he would mess up his satanic altar when he and Jayne would come to visit him.
The story that has been told many times is Anton was so mad at Sam that he grabbed a magazine and then tore it up not knowing that Jayne's picture was on the back and that the photo was ripped at the neck.
Anton had also threatened Sam several times that he would be dead in one year, but I can't remember if it would be in a car accident or something else.
I personally think Anton was having a temper tantrum and yet because he embraced the dark side who knows what powers that Anton LeVey could truly have possessed !!!
Jayne's life was on a downward spiral as she could no longer find movie roles or pretty much any work to support herself and her children.
Jayne's addiction's with pills and alcohol was her way of coping with the pressures of not being as famous as she once was and of course finding work in Hollywood.
Jayne's father had suffered a major heart attack died while driving when
Vera Jean Palmer (Jayne) was just 3 years old.
I'm not judging Jayne in anyway and I do wished she could have turned her life around not only for herself but for her lovely children whom Jayne loved dearly.

Jayne had either 3 or 4 Chihuahua's with her in the car. Old news footage show's a Highway Patrol Officer placing one of the dog's on the left side of his squad car.
Kenneth Anger wrote a book called: Hollywood Babylon which I believe was released in the early 1970's.
Kenneth goes into details the sordid history of Hollywood and there's quite a bit of graphic pictures ( tame by today's
standard's).
One of the photos depicts Jayne's Mansfield's crumpled 1966 Buick Electra car
(actually the car was owned by Gus Stevens who owned the nightclub that Jayne had her last performance) and the car's roof was completely peeled back towards the back window.
The picture also clearly shows a blonde wig in the windshield leading to the rumor she had been decapitated (she had been severely scalped).
The very last page of the book shows a close up of the Jayne Mansfield's car crash from the bottom of the passenger right hand side. The photo is a very sad sight as it shows one of the dead dog's and several liquor bottles spewed about.Just Terrible 😔

Good write up my friend. As far as LeVey is concerned: we can pinpoint 98% of all traffic fatalities to human error i.e. being distracted, impaired, and most of all speeding. I would garner that the driver had a bad habit of driving excessively fast.
The police report states the weather was clear and NO insecticide spray was involved in the accident.
Testemony later revealed that there was no fog. The Mansfeild driver was speeding. He never slamed on the breaks, never slowed down.

Interesting fact: Most people believe Mansfield was beheaded during the accident because in one picture a "blonde haired head" can be seen hanging in the scrap. This is false. The "blonde haired head" was only a wig Mansfield used to wear. In another picture appears the body of the actress and can clearly be seen she was not beheaded.
Another interesting fact is that only 3 days earlier, on June 26th, 1967, another actress, Françoise Dorléac, sister of Catherine Deneuve, was burned alive in a car crash at Villeneuve-Loubet, France.
Can't believe I'm 50 and just realized Mariska Hargitay is Mansfield's daughter.

This video is very erroneous. First of all, according to the police report and eye-witness testimony, it was clear out. Visibility was perfect. Second, it was on HWY 90 about a mile south/west of the Rigolets Bridge. The terrain is mostly flat, there are a few trees, but not big pine trees everywhere. Also, there is Lake Pontchatrain to the right and Lake St. Catherine to the left, with only about 1000 feet of space on either side of the road. The car was not white, it was either green or a teal colored. Lastly, the Johnson truck did not have triple axles in the back.
And Jayne was not seated in the center.

I grew up in back country of San Diego. . We live in a canyon. The was a steep winding road that lead up from the flatlands... IN the middle of the canyon. City Slikers used to get drunk and missed judged the sharpness of the 1st curve and go plunging off end up at the bottom... We could hear the cars tumbling to the bottom!!! Rarely did they suffer any broken bones... My friend owned a wrecking yard that had cars where people where seriously injured or died.. One thing I noticed in all these cars there was crushed there was always protection for a person lay down and survive... This was before seatbelts!!! I have survived many crashes with nothing more serious then bruises... I NEVER WORE A SEAT BELT!!! & ONLY GOT THROWN OUT OF A VEHICLE BECAUSE THE IT WAS A RAGTOP AND THE ROLL BAR SNAPPED.... I TRIED TO LAY DOWN BUT THE VEHICLE HIT A ROCK. I FOLDED THE STEERING WHEEL LIKE A TACO.... THAT WAS MY 1ST & LAST RAGTOP,!!!
I MADE SURE ALL VEHICLES HAD A VERY LOW CENTER CONSOLE... OH YES I HATE AIRBAGS!!! ONE BROKE MY HEAL!!!! Bought a marta police dodge intrepid with no center console. T boned by a work truck booking it- my fault- but that console not being there saved my life. Car was in shape of a U. 3 cracked ribs and spleen they had to keep an eye on for a few days. If console was there I would have been pinned and crushed.

2:17 It looks like Jayne is seated in the middle of the front seat but in the accident photos it showed Brodie in the middle and Jayne on the RH side. There are photos of the wreck where the roof is peeled back, Jayne's body has been taken out an laid to rest on the ground with a cover over it, and the other 2 are still in the car. Brodie's body is positioned right next to the driver and the far RH area of the front seat is unoccupied. It is understandable why Brodie might not want Jayne sitting all cuddled up next to the 20 year old male driver for obvious reasons. Might be a little distracting, lol.

They hit a mosquito truck spraying for a mosquitoes. It had fogged up the road and the young inexperienced driver in his early 20’s couldn’t see. It wasn’t a semi.

My research says different, that there was no fog from insecticides and vision was not impaired that night. So, was there fog or not? If there was still don't explain why the car going too fast for conditions. Imo, truck was going slow yes, but the car was not because the driver fell asleep at the wheel along with everyone else in the car, kids included and not one was wearing seat belts.
