I bought an iPad Air from eBay as faulty. The ipad only showed the battery symbol with a charging connection symbol
As i plugged in the lightning cable, the lightning charging symbol disappeared but only left the battery symbol,
so to me the charging port is fine, i left it to charge for 2 hours. after 2 hours i was still getting the battery symbol and not turning on the iPad and wouldn't charge or no signs of life
SO THIS TECHNIQUE will show you how to jump start the iPad from a dead battery symbol.
1. get hairdryer
2. turn ipad on its front , so the back is facing you
3. heat the back for 2/3 minutes
4. connect the lightning charging cable to the ipad
5. should turn on to apple logo

I think the science behind all of this is basically when you heat up the back of the iPad, something in the battery sort of triggers something to let it charge, I think there might be a shut-off mechanism or something I'm not sure but hopefully some of you guys might understand put it in the comments below.

This iPad needed a new battery as soon as I jump started it, it went from 37% to 50% down to 2% up to 100% so to me this needed a new battery.

I just tried this, and it worked as stated. I worked the hair dryer over the back of the iPad for 3 minutes, let it cool down and it came right up. Thanks for the great tip.

Please don’t lie this is gonna be my 10th time of breaking my charger
I tried 4 or 5 times heating it up (around 3 min each).... surface got very hot, not able to keep touching hand on it.
Even that.... not able to move further than "charging symbol", stillnot able to turn on with this proposed method.
In my case I'm trying to reboot it to restore (system crashed).
Any suggestion? I didnt want to send it directly to repair shop.

For me it works charging the ipad in recovery mode, a bit annoying but it works everytime

Thanks for the video. Just to add, I had the same issue this morning. My ipad was in the garage while cold outside. My iPad would not charge. I brought it to work, change chargers, but still nothing. While plugged up, I was sitting here and noticed it started ti charge. In reference to you method, it seems the temperature affected the charging of the battery. Sitting on my desk, it was allowed time to warm up.
I am flabbergasted. I thought for sure this was an elaborate troll, but I just resurrected my son's dead ipad with a hair dryer. Spent my whole life in the technical field so nothing should surprise me by now but I am in love with the idea of keeping a hair dryer in my tech kit for "just in case". Kudos to you my friend!

so my school gave me an iPad for online school. The charging hasn't been working and now its run out of battery. Ive charged it for 10 hours but it still has the red battery thing. The thing is, the iPad has a case on it and its very very difficult to take off. Would putting the dryer still affect the iPad with the case on?

How long do I charge the IPAD before putting it to the dryer test??? Also I have the same symbol when I’ve connected it for charging. So how long do I leave it like that before trying the hairdryer at the backside???

When I first tried this, I thought it didn't work and I was like oh well. However, I left my IPAD on the charger for about 15 minutes while I was cooking and when I came back it started working!!! It just took a bit longer for me but it worked. This video is a lifesaver!!

HOW 2UK i’ve tried so many possible ways and for some reason it’s just showing the same symbol which is the battery one when i did this the apple logo showed up but the screen was black with like white patches of the screen on the left hand side so i don’t know what’s going on with it

After this worked on my iPad I thought I’d dig out an old iPhone 4S I had in my cupboard that I’ve never managed to get to turn on ever! Didn’t even know if it worked at all. After 3 or 4 attempts blasting with the dryer the plugging in.. it came on ! It’s working perfectly 😂 I’m gobsmacked haha brilliant. Subscribed !

may I ask how many degrees was the hairdryer so I would know how hot my pc needs to overheat for it to warm my ipad (doesn't have a hair dryer, scared to use flatiron and has very important financial statements on the iPad) tnx.

how hot do i need it to be? i held it over my ipad mini for a good minute until it was burning to the touch. still didnt work. i think its just because its an old ipad

I did not believe it. It works. It turned on my iPad air. My son used the heat from the old Nexus 6 phone (played some graphic game like brawl star that made the phone a little warm). Now put the old warm phone on top of the ipad for a few(5) minutes, while charging the ipad, and it actually turning on the ipad. Thank you.

I could try cleaning out the lighting port but that usually doesn’t work for a lot of people, I might even get electrocuted doing it. But you know the motto: “What can go wrong will go wrong”, that’s the message, it’s called “ the Murphy’s law”. Not everything goes wrong
HOW 2UK, I actually tried it a second time and I admit it worked, it’s only just that my iPad is sensitive to cold temperatures and the battery drops when the IPad is cold

OMGGGGGGG YOU GUYS THIS ACTUALLY WORKSSSS!!! Okay I bought my son an iPad & he went to his dads & when he came back & it just wouldn’t turn on. After, I bought him a phone so he didn’t need the iPad anymore. That was abt Christmas 2019!!! I jus found the iPad, seen this video, let it charge a bit first & then I blow dried it on high heat for 3 mins & let it sit again! The first time it didn’t come on so I did it again (high heat 3 mins or maybe a little more) then I plugged the charger in & it worked!!! THANKYOU!

I recently bought one for Amazon was too stubborn to save up for the new one lol. My ipad will turn on for a few min maybe more and will then suddenly turn off with diff battery percentages each time. Will this help that ?

Thank you! This suggestion helped. My iPad was showing the red battery symbol and kept booting to the password prompt and rebooting due to low battery for 2-3 days. After using the hairdryer for 2 plus minutes, the iPad did not immediately restart and showed a high-temperature warning. Meantime I turned the airplane mode on and as I'm commenting here, the charge is 7% and hopefully, things will go well. I haven't used the iPad for 2 weeks or so and the battery got discharged fully which triggered this situation.

@@emanueldhaen2400 In my case, it worked with just doing once. I kept recharging the iPad around 15-20% thereafter and do not see any issues or quick discharge problems. However, once it ran out of charge and got switched off and luckily the usual charging overnight fixed it. I guess, keeping the iPad unused for an extended period that too in cold weather may require doing that hair dryer step again. Hope this helps. Thanks.

At first im afraid of using dryer on ipad but i have no choice because it wont turn on. I place it my fan heater and wait for 3 minutes... it works!!!

At first when the charging signs came up if used to flash on an off in blue , it’s stopped that an now stays on the charging sign but just doesn’t come on !!

... Remember distance shd be 4-5 inches from flame

There till 30 second.. Then take tan second gap and repate the process.. Now plug in and it will 100 % work
Or if you have hair dryer.. Same process shwon in video to be followed... You can also do this process twise and then try to charge it..... It will work

At first I thought it was a lie and when I looked at the comments I was like they are positive and when I tried it (BTW you don't need a hairdryer you just need anything hot I used a portable raditor) and after 3 mins it didn't work but I saw a comment that said they tried and it didn't work but then they went to cook and when they came back it worked. And i decide to do something and when i came back it was on, we need more people like you that actual help us and not people who just want views.
