Everything worked just fine, thank you soo much (for peoples that may have troubles, i suggest you to do a backup and flash the csc file instead of the home csc file, it worked for me whitout any problem)
Thanks for the tutorial! Just to clarify, will you have to do the button combination every time you boot to activate magisk and thus root? And if you do not do the button combination root will not be activated?
yea, the whole button combo usb thing seems to be required now. I mean, Samsung could change it with the next monthly security update but since it happened with the major version change I think it's here to stay strangely, they actually used a ramdisk with the S21 series so it installs Magisk just fine (doesn't need any button combo at all). so that's a nice reason to update heh and hey, join in on our daily Android discussions ruclips.net/channel/UCnowc_KHgjVNj3Y-E-oQ8awjoin
When i opened Odin, it said "Please be sure to delete your Google account (Samsung account) before downloading the binary." and then it opened. Is it normal? What should i do? I don't want to delete my account.
Hi, when I get to patching my stock firmware's AP file I always get the error " installation failed". I have bootloader unlocked and usb debugging on. I don't know what I am doing wrong. :(
Amazing ! On my Galaxy S10e (Android 11), Just have to plug an usb cable, do the combo "Bixby + Volume Up + lock button" and system boot with Magisk, thank you very much ! EDIT 2 mounths later : On my laptop or directly on the electrical outlet, I can't start it with Magisk (with 3 different cables). To solve the problem, I plugged the Galaxy S10e with USB cable into a desktop computer.
For me the flashing process doesn't go through. Always ends with a "Fail" in Odin. Almost in the very end, maybe 10 to 15 percent remaining. The last three steps listed in the Log are vbmeta.img, boot.img, recovery.img. Then the fail comes, always on that position. Afterwards I have to flash the unpatched AP, which works luckily. Then I got the device (SM-T725) on a running Android 11 but without root unfortunately. I tried several different AP-files, cables, USB ports already. Any idea...?!
Hi, Thanks for this guide video, I hope it should work for Note 10 plus as well. Only strange that usb plug is a requirement this time, but any way as long as it works, no problem. Kind regards,
I haven't tested with my Note 10+ yet, but did notice that this USB cable requirement is also happening on the Galaxy S21 ultra that was recently delivered too. It's possible this is only temporary, but it may be a way for Samsung to prevent people from booting into these special boot modes while just using their phone regularly (away from their computer, for example) but I honestly have no idea
Can I re-enable the OEM Lock afterwards via download mode? I did the root using the same ROM from my phone, but I don't need root anymore. My intent is to hide that message during the boot about 'not original software'.
Get it finally to work properly without bootlooping after flashing all the files of the firmware (including patched AP-file with magisk in OS via app), after 15 flashes orso get it to work on this way: - I copied the AP file to a external SD-card (MTP-mounting on the device can result in corrupt file(s) without warning) - After creating the new AP-flashed file with Magisk i copied this to the external SD-card in the phone and reject the card and put it sepperated in a USB-HUB from my PC and copied it to the PC - After that i boot in 'Recovery mode' on the phone and perform a factory reset and switch the device off (to get this to work put the phone in a high-powerd USB drive from the PC (think about USB-3 HUBS) After the power % loading screen push the power+bixby+volume-UP, when the screen go's black , stop prtessing the power -button, KEEP HOLDING bixby+volume-up buttons - Get in Download mode, start ODIN on and Flash all the files, don't use original firmware AP-file but the Magisk-patched-one. CSC i choosed the HOME_CSC because i tith a factory reset before this proces After these actions i finally have a Rooted S10 SM-G937F Hopefully this is helpfull for persons with the same problems as i have.
Hello, everything is fine. I have rooted and applied all the steps of my s10 plus, but after rooting, the memory size is only 3٢ GB, and now it is full. Is there without losing the root? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
After a search, I found the solution. You delete the root file and do a normal format from the mobile, and after formatting, you download the root file again and it will restore the 128 GB memory and also the root works
Anyone know if this would work on Samsung Galaxy S10+ SM-G975U Snapdragon, Android 11, One Ui 3.1 and if it works and someone successfully rooted this device lmk cause I seen a lot of vids saying this phone can't be rooted
it will work but only IF you can unlock the bootloader first. and sadly, that isn't officially supported on the snapdragon variant. however, I have read there is a paid service out there that may be able to do that let me know if this helped ruclips.net/channel/UCnowc_KHgjVNj3Y-E-oQ8awjoin

I bought a snapdragon version of the Galaxy S10 for performance reasons (I'm in the UK). It's a carrier unlocked phone, does this mean it can be rooted or nah? I know theres this crazy £100+ method of doing it that requires people in China to access your phone or something, but can I do it easier with an unlocked snapdragon verson? Thanks.
Thanks for this concise tutorial. System crashes sometimes with rooted January stock ROM, is there a more stable rooted version? Also I don't like the status bar being hidden with this version.

Figured out another problem.. trying to install a magisk plugin known as Smali Patcher, but after a successful install and trying to boot into root, the phone gets stuck on the samsung logo and restarts itself..
I've heard that anything plugged into the USB port will allow you to load magisk on boot. shouldn't matter if it's the method you describe or even just earbuds. but I haven't tested all scenarios. just the usb cable from my PC so far
i would go into the XDA thread for that mod and see if there are any conflicts with android 11 or the new oneui 3.1 firmware. that's a legally questionable mod so it's not something that I feel comfortable teaching to people. at least not in a public forum but that thread on XDA should be able to give you an idea as to why it bootlooped the phone
I can confirm that in order to boot magisk / rooted mode you need to connect the Galaxy S20 to a computer and then press the button combo on the phone. When you connect the phone to a wall charger / power only USB then it will not work.

When i reboot my phone after rooting, it is no longer there. I did your last step where you hold the Power, Bixby and Vol Up and letting go on the 3rd screen - however i do not get a third screen only 2 and I no longer have root afterwards.

Why do you don´t have the Starting Android screen when you unlock your phone after a reboot? I got this every time, also my complete stock Phone still have some pretty annoying bugs, sometimes it wont play Notification sounds after it was in silent mode...
Will this work for the S10 5G? The Korean variant. I had magisk on this phone when I got it but I stupidly flashed the latest stock ROM on it. Now, if I try to flash the patched magisk (using the latest firmware AP), the phone keeps going from the start screen to bootloader warning and back to the start screen. Non-stop loop.
I am looking to root an S10 to possibly find a deleted photo that was important to me. I know it can't always be found, but I no longer need that phone as I got a new one so I'm willing to try.. If I do this will it delete all my data? I'm finding mixed answers online. Some say unlocking the bootloader deletes all data, some say otherwise.
unlocking the bootloader through official means (shown in my videos) will always wipe data. it's a security measure put in place with Android. this is needed to prevent thieves from stealing your phone, unlocking the bootloader, and getting all of your personal photos/videos without needing the pin/pattern/password this is standard on android
@@ExplainingAndroid Thank you for the reply. All the software I've found for recovering deleted photos says you have to have the phone rooted, but you have to unlock the bootloader to do that. So is there any safe way to try and recover deleted photos or is it pretty much impossible?

i didn't personally test. i started with a fresh install of android 11 (flashed via odin and the regular csc file, as a base) but I don't see why not. back up before hand, just in case. but if you use the home_csc file then it shouldn't wipe your data

I've only seen this happen when you "only" flash the modded AP firmware file with Odin. As long as you flash a 4 files using Odin, you should not have this storage issue

does this work with note 10 series as well? edit: i just wanted to say something i done this as well it worked but you have to factory reset regarrdless on note 10 plus btw you have to manually go to recovery or else it would not work
So in the video you say to follow the link for your previous video to unlock the bootloader on all Samsung Galaxy with either processor but then in the video that you link you say that this is only for the Exynos processor and won't work for the Snapdragon. So should I look elsewhere for instructions for a Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy S10 plus bootload unlock or would your previous method work?
It depends on where the Snapdragon variant is from. There are a few sold in select countries (like China) that still allow bootloader unlock just as I describe in th eExynos video the snapdragon variants sold in Canada, the USA, and most other places have blocked the bootloader unlock process. however, I've read that on the XDA forums there's a paid service that will unlock the bootloader of those Snapdragon variants (even the ones sold in the US). I dont know if they're still doing this, but it is expensive from what I gather.

A few things: 1. I have not had to do the button combination on android 10. This button combination actually boots the device from bootloader into recovery mode. Magisk is injected into recovery, and this is where the magic happens. However, this was for old Magisk, newer Magisks does not need this step as I believe it is built in (hence why you didn't need it that one time in your vid) 2. I have a custom recovery, I normally unlock boot loader, flash TWRP, then flash magisk (in TWRP), reboot and profit. No need to patch the AP. 3. The reason for the USB needing a connection, honestly sounds weird. what does it do?
@@roundiszwart77 Well, I have yet to root the android 11 update. But this is the way I will be rooting it once I do - 1. Install the blank vbmeta as well as TWRP 2. Flash Magisk in TWRP 3. Flash DM Verity force encrypt disabler 3. Wipe FULL data in TWRP 4. Reboot... That method has always worked on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S10 5G running android 10. If you have snapdragon USA models don't try to bother rooting. it is almost impossible to unlock bootloaders on USA Samsung devices because they're isnt no OEM unlock on snapdragon devices. Its the case if you have s8, s9 s10 note 10 note 20 s20 etc
I used to agree, but these days it depends. Most won't want to pay to unlock the bootloader, but those services are available for USA Snapdragon variants. So the choice is out there (note, I don't charge for these services, nor am I able to offer them, either. I only know about them from reading on XDA)
Had to downvote. My Sprint Samsung Galaxy S10 5G has been rooted since I bought it. Yes, most models have bootloader locked without the option to unlock, but not all. I believe the S20 FE 5G can also be unlocked as well.
I rooted my phone using your method, thanks. However, since installing twrp, the vol up, bixby, and power key combo is booting into twrp rather than magisk root. Is there another key combo you're suppose to use to get into magisk root or have I lost root all together?
I've had the same issue. I can root my S10+ but as soon as I install TWRP I seemingly lose root. And because you have to have a cable attached as soon as you push the 3 button combo, no matter how quickly, it immeidately goes to TWRP. Do it without the cable attached and the phone boots normally without root. It seems you can only have root and no TWRP or vice versa. I tried everything and gave up in the end. I don't really need TWRP anyway so for now I'm happy to just have root on my phone and working nicely. I'm sure my curiosity will get the better of me eventually and I'll try other solutions.

(for peoples that may have troubles, i suggest you to do a backup and flash the csc file instead of the home csc file, it worked for me whitout any problem)
that's great to hear! thanks so much for sharing this feedback :) hopefully it helps a lot of people who are getting stuck
Thanks for the tutorial!
Just to clarify, will you have to do the button combination every time you boot to activate magisk and thus root? And if you do not do the button combination root will not be activated?
yea, the whole button combo usb thing seems to be required now. I mean, Samsung could change it with the next monthly security update but since it happened with the major version change I think it's here to stay
strangely, they actually used a ramdisk with the S21 series so it installs Magisk just fine (doesn't need any button combo at all). so that's a nice reason to update heh

Hi, when I get to patching my stock firmware's AP file I always get the error " installation failed". I have bootloader unlocked and usb debugging on. I don't know what I am doing wrong. :(
it said fail what do i do please :(
This does not work for me, after flashing with Odin, it boots but stuck in loading screen.
To solve the problem, I plugged the Galaxy S10e with USB cable into a desktop computer.
that's great to hear. you're quite welcome :)
Hi,
Thanks for this guide video, I hope it should work for Note 10 plus as well.
Only strange that usb plug is a requirement this time, but any way as long as it works, no problem.
Kind regards,
I haven't tested with my Note 10+ yet, but did notice that this USB cable requirement is also happening on the Galaxy S21 ultra that was recently delivered too.
It's possible this is only temporary, but it may be a way for Samsung to prevent people from booting into these special boot modes while just using their phone regularly (away from their computer, for example)
but I honestly have no idea
@@ExplainingAndroid Thanks, let's see if it changes with next updtes.
Please keep us updated in case you notice any change.
Kind regards,

are you using a USB cable as mentioned?
Can I re-enable the OEM Lock afterwards via download mode? I did the root using the same ROM from my phone, but I don't need root anymore. My intent is to hide that message during the boot about 'not original software'.
Get it finally to work properly without bootlooping after flashing all the files of the firmware (including patched AP-file with magisk in OS via app), after 15 flashes orso get it to work on this way:
- I copied the AP file to a external SD-card (MTP-mounting on the device can result in corrupt file(s) without warning)
- After creating the new AP-flashed file with Magisk i copied this to the external SD-card in the phone and reject the card and put it sepperated in a USB-HUB from my PC and copied it to the PC
- After that i boot in 'Recovery mode' on the phone and perform a factory reset and switch the device off (to get this to work put the phone in a high-powerd USB drive from the PC (think about USB-3 HUBS) After the power % loading screen push the power+bixby+volume-UP, when the screen go's black , stop prtessing the power -button, KEEP HOLDING bixby+volume-up buttons
- Get in Download mode, start ODIN on and Flash all the files, don't use original firmware AP-file but the Magisk-patched-one. CSC i choosed the HOME_CSC because i tith a factory reset before this proces
After these actions i finally have a Rooted S10 SM-G937F
Hopefully this is helpfull for persons with the same problems as i have.
Hello man, bootloop here too. Can I use the USB drive to copy the magisk file? I'm without the sdcard
@@KJunior I think thats lead to corrupt files. U can upload it to a cloud and download it to your PC and flash it with Odin
I got the AP file, but Magisk won't give me an option to extract it.

Figured out another problem.. trying to install a magisk plugin known as Smali Patcher, but after a successful install and trying to boot into root, the phone gets stuck on the samsung logo and restarts itself..
I've heard that anything plugged into the USB port will allow you to load magisk on boot. shouldn't matter if it's the method you describe or even just earbuds. but I haven't tested all scenarios. just the usb cable from my PC so far
i would go into the XDA thread for that mod and see if there are any conflicts with android 11 or the new oneui 3.1 firmware. that's a legally questionable mod so it's not something that I feel comfortable teaching to people. at least not in a public forum
but that thread on XDA should be able to give you an idea as to why it bootlooped the phone
I can confirm that in order to boot magisk / rooted mode you need to connect the Galaxy S20 to a computer and then press the button combo on the phone.
When you connect the phone to a wall charger / power only USB then it will not work.
I tried to root my galaxy s10 without unlocking the bootloader first... then the odin got stuck in to flashing "modem.img" after that i got in to download mode again but flashed the original files, and it went sucess, but the phone isn't turning on, only thing i can do is get in to the download mode, the other problem is that my phone has a broken screen and i can't see nothing, can you help me please? i wasn't planning on paying for another screen because i just use in dex mode

If I do this will it delete all my data? I'm finding mixed answers online. Some say unlocking the bootloader deletes all data, some say otherwise.
unlocking the bootloader through official means (shown in my videos) will always wipe data. it's a security measure put in place with Android. this is needed to prevent thieves from stealing your phone, unlocking the bootloader, and getting all of your personal photos/videos without needing the pin/pattern/password
this is standard on android
@@ExplainingAndroid Thank you for the reply. All the software I've found for recovering deleted photos says you have to have the phone rooted, but you have to unlock the bootloader to do that. So is there any safe way to try and recover deleted photos or is it pretty much impossible?

So in the video you say to follow the link for your previous video to unlock the bootloader on all Samsung Galaxy with either processor but then in the video that you link you say that this is only for the Exynos processor and won't work for the Snapdragon. So should I look elsewhere for instructions for a Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy S10 plus bootload unlock or would your previous method work?
It depends on where the Snapdragon variant is from. There are a few sold in select countries (like China) that still allow bootloader unlock just as I describe in th eExynos video
the snapdragon variants sold in Canada, the USA, and most other places have blocked the bootloader unlock process.
however, I've read that on the XDA forums there's a paid service that will unlock the bootloader of those Snapdragon variants (even the ones sold in the US). I dont know if they're still doing this, but it is expensive from what I gather.

A few things:
1. I have not had to do the button combination on android 10. This button combination actually boots the device from bootloader into recovery mode. Magisk is injected into recovery, and this is where the magic happens. However, this was for old Magisk, newer Magisks does not need this step as I believe it is built in (hence why you didn't need it that one time in your vid)
2. I have a custom recovery, I normally unlock boot loader, flash TWRP, then flash magisk (in TWRP), reboot and profit. No need to patch the AP.
3. The reason for the USB needing a connection, honestly sounds weird. what does it do?
oh could you show how you root your device because most videos dont work for me
@@roundiszwart77 Well, I have yet to root the android 11 update. But this is the way I will be rooting it once I do -

@@Carlito_El_Gooner I feel ya my brother. My advice would be that unless you're going to be frequently switching custom ROM's just go with root and native recovery. Less headaches. It's just unfortunate that Samsung and Google keep adding extra layers of security with each release to make rooting harder. You have to be a rocket scientist to navigate your way through it all. It used to be such a simple process. Not anymore. Good luck!
@@Carlito_El_Gooner you can still root phone with twrp
just go to the magisk file, rename it to magisk zip and boot into twrp click on install and look for magisk zip anf flash it
Is galaxy s10 5g sm g977u rootable?? I cant find oem unlocking in the setting
My ODIN is getting stuck at modem.bin & OEM Bootloader unlock option which gets greyed out also gets missing after the unlocking. Can you please provide the solution.
@@ExplainingAndroid I unlocked my bootloader for first time it showed me that greyed option somehow I softbricked it and now not able to see that oem bootloader unlocking option at all in s10+ , also i was running on oneui3.1
@@Devil_On_Hunt you have to relock the bootloader to be able to "uncheck" that oem unlock toggle
I want to say you need to boot into download mode again (like unlocking the bootloader) first
I need to do one of these for the S21 soon. so when you see me publish that video, you should be able to follow along with your S10 (the process should be the same)
@@ExplainingAndroid sure once you upload it do share i will be waiting for now I have stopped just updated it to latest firmware.
Does this work for phone never rooted, also does usb debugging have to he on and what about oem unlocking which doesn't show up any more
yes, it will work. just make sure you use the regular CSC file so it wipes your data (required for first root)

hi, thanks for the video. After uninstalling magisk on my galaxy s10, the phone keeps taking me to the force restart page. When i reboot and wipe the phone it still keep going there during setup. i hope you could help. many thanks.
I received a md5 checksum error with the patched file in Odin.. I'm assuming it's due to the bootloader not being unlocked but I can't unlock it no matter what steps I take..
md5 checksum error typically means a bad download of the firmware (corrupt download or something). i would try to download a new firmware
but yes, you need the firmware to be unlocked for this to work

@@ExplainingAndroid thank you for your time making the video and responding to my comment..
@@ExplainingAndroid I patched the file in magisk then copied it back to my computer so I'm wondering if Odin flags the file as "corrupt" due to the difference in size..
@@dailyfilmfix469 that does sound logical, but then it would have happened to me in the video
it's possible the md5 check only happens if the bootloader is locked (and that is why it didn't happen to me). but that type of verification is done by a digitally signed certificate IIRC, not with md5 checksums
@@ExplainingAndroid my mobile technology skills are certainly lacking lol
Hi there! Thanks for such a good explanation, There were some differences in my case similar to what some of the comments below have described. For instance I had to wipe all data and flash CSC file(not HOME CSC) to get rid of the bootloop, also I have to wait only 2 screens to get Magisk loaded on boot.
I wonder if there is any way to avoid the complicity with the loading MAGISK on boot with a cable plugged in? sometimes when I am on the street and there is no usb port or cable with me, I just can`t get it loaded, such a pain is the....
oden stopped on RADIO status , should i unplug it ? :((
I think I know what happened, but I will need you to give me more information in the Android support thread I have setup for channel members here - ruclips.net/channel/UCnowc_KHgjVNj3Y-E-oQ8awjoin
helloI
i have a problem with my s 10
I rooted it last week and the day before yesterday no more battery is I was unable to restart it with magisk
So I repeat all the steps I re patch the AP file etc ...
with odin no worries
But once the process has finished the phone restarts in a loop displays the warnings and hop restart suddenly I put it back in download mode and I reflash it ten times I still encounter the same problem however when I put the original AP file back restart normally
I am convinced that the error comes from me improper handling at the time of startup but I cannot find the right method for it to restart
Would someone be able to help me?
thank you in advance
ps: I am under android 11
followed every exactly. I have a bootloop. I followed all your videos including unlocking the bootloader and then unlocking oem. I ended up having to do a complete factory reset. Which means I have to start all over. Shit. This looks like a weekend activity. Why can't this be easy like installing linux?
Help me i followed all your steps and it showed passed but my phone keeps on rebooting id does not power on
are you booting with a USB cable plugged in?
@@ExplainingAndroid yes i have same problem with cable connection
Same here. After Odin flash, next reboot, press power => boot loop, with or without USB cable plugged IN.
Explaining Android, will you root a phone for someone?
I will. send a message to the tech support thread here for details - ruclips.net/channel/UCnowc_KHgjVNj3Y-E-oQ8awjoin
Hello, and thank you for the tutorial. I have followed it, I have root access, but storage has been reduced from 128gb to 32gb. I have resized the partition with twrp, but I'm loosing root access after doing it. Any idea? Thank you!
I also got only 32gb, did you manage to solve it?
@@caiovnp no, still looking for a solution that would allow me to get my full storage without loosing my root access. If you find something, can you please let me know? :)
not only flash the AP file with odin, you must flash ALWAYS 4 files in odin everytime.
@@nihilist7810 thank you. I have flashed the 4 files as shown in the video. It gives me the root access, but the storage decreased from 128gb to 32gb :(

What would happen if I ignored the firmware step and just attempted to install magisk?

Odin is stuck on modem.bin, what can I do now? can I unplug my phone? does it take more than 30min?
could fix it, for the ones who have same problem. Thought bootloader would be unlocked, but i had to unlock it in download mode first, woops.
