  • I did an Open Session at Daytona Milton Keynes in their recently upgraded karts! Never driven a SODI at MK so of course I had to be obnoxious and start from the pitlane to make it more challenging!

    Well done, nice win and video. I too took part in the British Pro kart Endurance series but that was about 20 year ago! That was with a 7Kart chassis, not sure if they are still around.
    Always funny when some guy wearing trainers, Daytona suit and lid and gardening gloves wants to start mansplaining something to you after the race.

      Thank you! I used to have a stratos chassis for my honda cadet (stratos became 7kart if I recall correctly).
      I do find that entertaining, funny to listen to them talking as if they know something 🤣

      @@MilkyCereal73 One of the great things on the 7Kart was the caster? adjustment on the front where you can control how much the front wheels changed height when steering to allow the rear to lift. I sounds like the chassis at Daytona could do with some of that

    • @MilkyCereal73
      @MilkyCereal73  Месяц назад

      @@mikezappa I first discovered caster with the BPEC karts, really cool to fiddle with as I never had it in my owner days.
      The Daytona karts could do with some better tyres, and maybe a wider rear

    Sodi carts are all about how smooth you are they dont lift the inner wheel like at all so smoother to keep as much power to the inner wheel without lowering the rpm i only know this cause i had to change my whole style when i moved closer to a sodi kart track

    i made the same sort of dive u did to overtake p1 and i did it with a much bigger gap and no bumps or crashes were caused but got black flagged suddenly even though i had no other previous warnings and i would"ve gotten my first trophy for p2 and led me with p17 which is so ridiculous and thats y im never going their again and only going to sundown park which the stewards are so much better and understand what racing is

      Really sorry to hear that happened! I've been at MK a lot, as a driver and as a commentator for their championship series. Seen a few sketchy calls, but the majority tend to be good, so I think you just got unlucky.
      Don't forget the marshalls only get one look at the incident and many times they don't see the incident from start to finish

    Hi yousuf, I was just wondering why instead of putting your head towards the wheel and using “human drs”, you are putting your legs up instead. I race in club 100 and was thinking whether it would be more effective

    • @MilkyCereal73
      @MilkyCereal73  2 месяца назад

      Hey Joe,
      Really good question, there are a few reasons.
      1. Bum shuffling is a bit more comfortable and it means you can still see the track well, whilst head down makes you a bit blind.
      2. Club100 karts I think have the fuel tank a bit closer to the seat, so you can't bum shuffle easily iirc.
      3. Both help with airflow, idk which is better, they probably both make a tiny and barely noticeable difference (unless a very long straight like Whilton)

      If I am being perfectly honest, I don't think it makes a huge amount of difference. Bum shuffling isn't uncomfortable though, so definitely worth a try.

      Fair point. They just felt faster into Turn 2 and 4. In the N35s I was able to go flat into them pretty much, definitely not in the sodis, but maybe that's just cos the handling is awful

    I think rental karts are the best way to learn how to be fast.

    • @MilkyCereal73
      @MilkyCereal73  Месяц назад

      Yes and no.
      If you are starting into karting, rental karts are great as they are much cheaper.
      But if you do lots of sessions, it might be even cheaper to get an old kart and take it to circuit test days. You get hours of practice for about £40, much better value for money

    I raced in alot of sodi's and your description of them being a boat is so accurate. Not so fun especially when u think ur being fast & then the rears jitter along the track fkning ur line. That being said, for me the 'best' way to drive em is being smooth all the way. I try to take it easy on entry so I can accelerate soon, that way I mostly always have a good exit. I like the sodi's but once u race a 2 stroke these things just feel so slow
