Kilgore's has this intensity to it that really makes me go wow, Riptors is hilarious and I also just love raptors, she tries to go for a fancy kill but misses so just burns you out of anger, it's amazing lol.

Ultimates I Like:
-Jago: Pretty cool, and a nice use of Endokuken.
-Thunder: Kinda standard, but I love that teleporting headbutt he does.
-Tusk: That's just plain cool.
-Killgore: This one has so much character, that I can't help but love it.
-Fulgore: What can I say? Giant laser beams are cool.
-Riptore: This one's just friggin cute.
-Sabrewulf: The claw effects and sound design make an otherwise bland finisher, pretty damn sick.
-Hisako: Brutal, but also kinda funny.
-Glacius: Just the right mix of stylish, vicious, and comedic.
-Aria: Excellent use of the characters main gimmick.
I really like that they decided to go for a more stylish look for the ultimate to make them more in character and with their abilities instead of going for a lot unnecessary gore and close to realism pain like mk has being going recently since MKX
Riptor's, Aganos', Sabreeulf's, Glacius', Thunder', and Tusk's ultimates here awesome. I liked Hisako's too. A bit of a 4th wall break as if she's trying to ask you what you thought of that ultra either that or saying "thanks for the meal." since she pretty much devoured the life force of the person she did that ultra on

New KI has better ultimates. Let's face it.
Asuramaru Tepes I'm familiar with all of the original ultimates. I don't understand how you can think the ones I mentioned earlier are better than the new ones. The Fulgore ultimate from the original KI is ok, but overall is silly, much like most of the rest of the cast's.
Ultimates are supposed to be a stylish way to finish the match under specific circumstances and they achieve this goal nicely. Sure, some characters have better ones than others but that's ok. The ultimates are not meant to be like Mortal Kombat X's fatalities. The original KI blatently ripped off MKs "Finish Him" dizzy state and fatality concept. There is no originality there.
Asuramaru Tepes because of a couple of reasons. The game is rated T. It doesn't have or need the same level of gore or violence that Mortal Kombat is known for. The "death" of characters during an ultimate is implied but not explicitly shown. Like I said, it's more of a stylized way of ending the match. KI doesn't need MK-style fatalities.
The game is called "Killer Instinct" but the word "killer" can be used in a number of ways; one of which is to describe something amazing, like someone saying "That movie we watched was killer!". It sounds like your main gripe is that the game doesn't show characters explicitly getting killed, which doesn't sound like a legitimate reason to not like the ultimates to me. I think they are mostly good with the exception of Riptor's.
The series did legitmate fatalities in the beginning. But these are non fatal finishing moves.

Anyone who says no needs a Johnny Cage style nut punch. Killer Instinct is probably the only title that could keep up with MK on the violence levels if they bothered to go back to M, as it would've been a far better crossover than MK vs DC. The only issue is KI being console exclusive, and as for the different playstyles..Just make two different games like SF vs Tekken did

After seeing the creative and gory Fatalities in the revived Mortal Kombat series, these are so painfully generic and lame in comparison.

Personally i think they were just a token thing, as ultimates were in the previous game and people wanted them, some ultimates are cool but its just a shame they did not have the time or budget to do all characters

I actually think the ultimates looked pretty badass. For those of you expecting gore, theres a game for that, its called Mortal Kombat. Heck even Injustice 2 didnt have blood and nobody complained about those ultimates even though its a series infamous on killing lots of favorite heroes
Disagree. Tender instinct is bullshit. Killer instinct had gore and violence, the original game, and the gold, this is a greedy bs T rated to grab as much money possible.
sir, have you actually played the game? this game prioritizes gameplay over all, hell you can't even say it's super cash grabby since Spinal, Jago, and Sabrewulf, of all characters, still see a ton of high level play, and they came in the cheapest season to get

You could use the Stage Ultra in Village Of Whispers (Hisako's stage) as a substitute because one of Spinal's Ultimates in the first game had him summon a skeleton from underground that dragged the losing fighter down with it.
Same with Arbiter, but some people got stage Ultras.

Aleks Stj Guess you never played the original KI games then. They were Rare's answer to MK. Yes KI was never quite as gory as MK, it was still a lot more violent than this game. Rare took the safe route with this game.
The original KI games even had "questionable" audio. Orchid used to moan like she was having sex in her victory poses lol
If you can look past the censors on some of these, you can tell how violent they really are

What people here don't realize is that Killer Instinct has ALWAYS been a more graphically tame version of Mortal Kombat.

Why all the hate? This game doesn’t try to beat MK and as you can see, the ultimates do kill the opponent. If anything, MK makes a lot of its fatalities look cartoony. Plus, it leaves it up to the imagination to see how most of these fighters die. Some of my favorites are Saberwulf, Riptor and Chief Thunder. Maybe even Sadira.

To me, these are pretty good (Although some of them could be better), Ultimates were always kind of over-the-top finishers
What I don't get is the amount of people asking for Mortal Kombat style finishers, Killer Instinct was always a T-Rated game, and the 90's were different times, of course the new KI loses a lot of shock value, we grew old!
Just asking here, what gore? Let me see, we've had... being shot multiple times, turned into an ice block, melted, impaled (Or the sword/ice pick dissapearing in the opponent's stomach), smashed into a car, had a car, arcade machine, meteor, elephant, skull, etc smashed into our opponents, many more... the only "gore" in KI were the copious amounts of blood spewed through the fight and the finishers
It was "implied death" on most, and these do the job just fine, you wanted "real" death and gore? Well there's always Mortal Kombat, just like back in the day
Fucking Hisako man! She literally bends your opponent out of shape, sure it looks like it's doing a "goofy" pose, but that's the point, the crackling sound of every bone drives it home

EDIT: One last thing, and only thing I don't like, is how you have to do them during an Ultra, why is it that Shadow Jago can still do it in his opponent's danger state and not everyone else?
Honestly I think people were spoiled by MK9 and X's over the top gory fatalities XD these are just fine in my book. I guess people thought there'd be decapitations and guts and such. But like you said, even though it cuts away there's some pretty gnarly violence happening.

Shago's has some unique traits to it, likely expiremental and they wanted you to still have to land an opening move on them afterwards, it doesn't change much for him since he has really good mixups

put your imagination to the test and visualise what kind of off screen demise the opponents are suffering like Jago burning his opponents to death these are not in order I am just explaining the off screen kills are very dare I say in my mind gruesome for example maya stabbing your eyes/throat aganos crushing you to death leaving an unseen blood splat, shadow Jago slicing you from groin to gullet, sadira slitting your throat and watching you bleed out, tj combo rupturing your arteries and stopping your heart, Kilgore blowing you up body parts(off screen) scattered everywhere, sabrewulf slashing you to pieces in a blink and you'll miss it Moment off screen, Fulgore incinerating you to the Bone and dissolving your molecules, tusk gutting you death just visualise Their demise.
Glacius Watching your body shatter in tiny ice bits. Your burnt corpse by thunder. The sword stabbing into you by ARIA. Entire body broken leaving a large amount of blood. The blood dripping from you as Mira bit you. So brutal.
Jago's was pretty much for Dragon Ball Z fans (which I'm fine with)
Glacius' made a lot of sense (even though, it kinda reminded me of one of Sub-Zero's fatalities from Mortal Kombat X)
Combo's was okay, but his Danger Moves from the first game were so much better
Tusk's was good, at least I think so (though I'm curious on how he summoned fire)
Maya's was okay, I guess
Shadow Jago was okay at first, but I think that they made it better in the end
Fulgore's at least for this game was great, but personally I prefer the ones he had in the previous games
Sadira and Riptor's were both just insults to the characters (for no reason whatsoever)
Sabrewulf's was just epic and honestly, better then any of his Danger Moves from the previous two games in the series
Kilgore's is one I just don't like, but I guess some people could get a laugh out of it
Aganos maybe one character in this game that I don't like, but I would be lying in saying that I didn't like his Ultimate here

Well...as some others mentioned there's only so much violence they can get away with due to the game's T rating. Hence why it does all those cutaways or other effects to not show the final hit.

Late reply but I think not showing the final hit makes it somewhat even more messed up. Like Glacius' ultimate is good because it leaves the rest of what happens to the imagination. I dunno, I think it's pretty cool.

Am I wrong or do I remember there were fatalities in older KIs? I remember Fulgore shooting mini guns and your opponent bleeding out
Yup Ki 1 had them, they were more along the lines of MK where after winning the opponent would stand dizzy given time to put in the inputs
I honestly wish Arbiter had an Ultimate.

Sadira's, Fulgore's and ARIA's are awesome, Riptor's is cute, the others just barely miss the mark, kn spite of having interesting ideas.
Glacius creating ice boxing gloves, TJ walking away from a decisive punch like a badass, Sabrewulf doing a big cut-to-black slash, Hisako possessing the enemy... these are all awesome ideas, but they don't have the effect they should because of the weird black screen and the weird timing and animations on all of them.
I can see why this is a good "rip off" to Mortal Kombat.

Wow how spectacular .. and ki 3 is more faithful to ki 1 when it comes to ultras .. heck gold is doing one move over and over where 1 and 3 run down a characters moveset ..
and the ultimates ? Get burned ... that's it .. heck maya's doesn't even kill you .. sabrewulf's bats kill his opponent of screen ... so in short ki 2/gold fatalities are just as tame ..
and are a joke to define a game with ...
and don't even get me started on the stage knock out's on that one ... they show jack shit ....

TVBUU ultimately meaningless to me .. to me what matters is the gameplay and realy aside from ultimates ki 3 has it's predesseccors beaten by a magnitude ..
It's funny that people are complaining about the finishers/ultimates when clearly they weren't that visceral or gruesome to begin with.
The old ones had it's own magic, this ones are just, not bad, but lost that magic due to the lack of gore.
People saying that these aren't as hardcore as the old finishers clearly don't REMEMBER those finishers that well.
They portrayed something violent, yes, but they had about as much bloodshed as these did. That is to say, lots of blood with no dismemberment.
The only thing different is the "use your imagination" camera angle.
