Rang into this issue two days ago and worked out the choke wasn’t working. Been trying to find a video as to why the lever wasn’t activating and the solution. I’ll be trying this is a few days when it’s not 42 Deg C. Thank you for the video.
Thank you!!!!!!!’ I have spent years trying to start our mower when cold by pulling it 50 bloody times and then giving it a sniff of aero start!!! Your video has solved this, followed your instructions and surprise ,started first pull!!! You are definitely worth more money!!!!!!!
Thank you very much for the solution and for great instructions! Your video immediately solved my long-term problem with the GXV160 engine. Best wishes.
Mate, I have problems starting mine for years...this is the first video I come a cross showing how to fix it, jus finished doing what you said and bingo! Thanks so much 👌
You Legend! I just picked up a mint HRU196 the guy was jack of as it took 5 mins to start, did this and BANG it started first pull. Best part is that he'd JUST had it serviced so it's ready for the year! 🤘
Can the part which has CB303 ever bugger up. My machine won’t start at all. I’ve drained the old fuel, cleaned the carb including pull the jet out (it’s clear) spark plug is fine as it works in another machine. I’m a bit stuck!
Hi, i have the same mower as yours and for some reasons i cant push the throttle controller into the joke position, the maximum i can push the controller to halfway of min and maximum, nowhere near the joke Position, just wondering if your know why? Thanks for helpings
Did you fix this? Mine was doing the same and I noticed the little bar that attaches to the choke flap actuator on top of the carb had been fitted to the front hole. I moved it to the rear hole and it now works perfectly. Mine has a manual choke.
@@rattlebob8984 I rebuilt this section with a new carb and using studs instead of the 6" screws so the "house of cards" is no more. And......you were exactly correct about the linkage. Moved it to the rear/inner hole and it works perfectly. BINGO! If you're interested in the stud fix, find the YT video with ID v=luCYRA-1jfY in the URL. Title is "the frustration is over".
Can’t believe how lucky I was to find this video, 5 min job and it worked great…. Thanks @geelong mowing
Glad it helped!

So glad to hear this. I wouldn’t mind a mint 196 in the shed.
I think you are the man with the best advice I might need to get a old Honda HRU 214 lawnmower running on it's own & properly like should. Thanks mate
Glad to help, good luck with the 214 and thanks for the subscription 👍
Great vid i wish my local small engine shop knew this before they said the new motor was done and i have been troubleshooting it for a couple months.
So simple to follow and fixed the starting issue straight away. Absolute legend. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Luke, I’ve got some more videos coming soon

Your throttle cable could be stretched, frayed or not adjusted correctly at the controller.
What caused it to get out of adjustment
Awesome m8
I can manually reach in and flip the carb to choke, but then actually moving the lever to choke then actually releases it. Grrrr.

@@rattlebob8984 Not yet. Thanks for the suggestion - although I hesitate to pull apart that "house of cards" again. What a nightmare.
