After watching that poor Russian woman have a disaster with this etude in the Chopin Competition today, I am terrified to even practice it. I’m hoping the beauty of the piece will eventually outweigh the anguish of seeing her come unglued in such an important moment. I would probably have run away. Brave woman!
My dad gave me a Chopin book for Christmas and I'm in the middle of trying to learn this piece right now. I don't know if I'll ever get it this good, but thank you for this beautiful example of what it should sound like.
@@personthatexists92 painfully slowly lol. I have most of it memorized and can clumsily stumble through it. But the tempo is nowhere near where it needs to be, and I go through periods where I don't practice as much as I should. Thanks for asking!
This is going to my to do list after some hefty practise. Thank you for the etude! Could it be possible for you to record your interpretation of Chopin's nocturne op. 48 no. 1 and op. 27 no. 2. I've been practicing those two lately and would love to see one of my favourite pianist play them.
Got a nose bleed just looking at your fingers flying🤣. Love you and your guidance on your other RUclips clips. Thanks ever so much, a Barton wannabe☺️!
this piece is harder than it looks... the chromatic scale run on this one forces you to use your 3rd,4th and 5th finger, opposite to what normal pianist used to run chromatic scales
it is very sad that many pianists can not play expressive works like this because of teachers who teach useless techniques like hanon's that makes your carpus not in arc but in line and the fingers can not pass one over the other, but practicing the B major scale is the natural position of the hand.
Please get a Steinway, Bosendorfer, even a Yamaha or something… this feurich piano is a piece of crap!!! Your playing is getting more musical over the years, less machine like, but now the “interpretative” things you do are too in your face and artificial. I still wonder though- why we never hear this guy playing live. Everything is so produced, I really wonder how he would play live without the ability to edit and redo… I’ve always been suspect that this dude is kind of fake and just plays slow and speeds it up, or edits things to always be note perfect. If he really played with this kind of accuracy, I would think he’d have won a contest or something earlier in life.

what was her name? Id like to see the performance!
@@themagicducc2777 Anastasia Yasko
Or Kate liu
I remember seeing that during the livestream, very scary
@@xueli6021 Kate Liu missed a few notes but turned in a solid performance. Anastasia Yasko completely lost control.
If you've never attempted this etude - you have no idea how insanely impressive this video is.

Well said! I feel the same way ☺

@@viciousxcycles6728 No problem! Have you ever played any of Chopin's other Etudes?
Unbelievable great technique and beautiful playing!Bravo!!!
Such an underrated piece the melody sounds awesome
Superb playing Paul, you truly made this fiendishly difficult etude look and sound easy!
I love your interpretations!! So beautiful and very very well-played!! Great job!! Thanks for the videos
Super underrated piece if you ask me.
That ending where the tempo slows down always gets me.
Thanks for sharing Paul. Love the bass 👏
Most pianists play this very fast and destroy the music. This tempo gives all the time to feel and enjoy each and every note.

This piece is hard because of the accidentals and sometimes i miss them when im learning the piece.
Awesome. How do you play pieces so smoothly?
Beautiful
Too good. You make 144 sound slow.

Finger 1 and 2 support the other three fingers so that they do not exaggerate the inclination, which also makes an admirable bass.
