2023 Dove Season Opening Morning (TX Public Land)

September 1st is always a day I look forward to - the opening of Texas dove season. I took my trusty old 20 gauge and went out to some north Texas public land. For public land (that is not agricultural) I was pleasantly surprised at how well this hunt went. I was out for two hours and got 11 birds. I definitely would have hit my limit (15 birds) if I could shoot a little better or if I stuck it out longer, but I had to call it quits to get to work!

Yea I’m down in Houston and the public areas where you’re allowed to dove hunt are few and far between. If I recall there are only two with an hour drive. Been a while since I checked

Yeah I am around San Antonio I am going to try and hunt on the special white winged dove days, or will have to wait till the 14, but can't hunt till noon
