I really hope to see this thing finished one day, I come looking for it about every 6 months or so to se if there are any new videos. This is probably the coolest build ever I wish someone would put the money into having you finish it
Great work! Good vid! I know you're slammed with work but we want more content from NRE!
Nelson doesn't just up the game on every car he builds... he tosses out the rule book and rewrites history.
Truth.
He also walked on water, on his space ship. Using his fairy wand
for suree i see him as the american koenigsegg, maybe if hennesey had more build videos i would be just as impressed but toms the man currently
brett wattigney Hennessy is interesting but Nelson is truly on a whole other level.
Hey
You sir, are my absolute favorite engine/car fabricator. Quality and engineering are second to none. Kudos and keep up the inspiration.
You my friend are on a whole other level than the rest far as I’m concerned. Pure awesomeness. 🇺🇸
I need more on this! I've been coming back every 6 months or so looking for more updates on this build for the past 11 years lol. I hope to see this thing get finished one day
Been watching and waiting for this build for like 10 years. Cant wait for the next update!
I am simply "BLOWN" AWAY! LOL All I can see is Will Smith in MIB saying - "Damn"!
love the transfer case, and the way you're making the cage and integrating it into the pillars to hide it is so satisfying
Thumbnail: Mid Engine GTO!
Me: yes?
Title: AWD Mid Engine GTO!
Me: *YES!!*
What would be more bad ass is if only 1 guy would be capable of all aspects of this project. paying, designing, building, finishing, painting, tuning, and driving this beast.
You Guys do amazing work! Love to see in finished!
This is just what I have been looking for the last few months.
I remember years back watchin nelson drive that ole 1650 hp rx7 came a long way from that thing this design of a car is gonna be nutsbest of luck to you.😉
I'll never forget that rolling burn out, haha.
I am very excited for this to be finished, a true "Super" car. Fantastic work
Super car for sure hyper car most likely 😬
@nallen100 Here watch this video it has a power glide as well.ruclips.net/video/_DDswtLUhdM/видео.html. Let me know what you think.
Good to see you got funding to finish your dream build. Can't wait to see it running.
Tom is a true master craftsman. So so many details and so much that is not in the video. And then all the extra that goes into the easier parts for tom such as the engine and ancillaries which he has decades of development in. This means on top of all the nutty midships awd craziness there will be a minted 2500hp that idles as a street car should with vacuum, with octane on demand etc. All the little points that make this one of the landmark builds.
Fair play to the new customer to have the balls to invest in this! Thank you for letting us see what Tom and his great team can do.
I've been waiting YEARS for this update
Wow, can't wait to see that $300k monster..
Dam. Leather seats and all the good clean interior and hard to get one of pieces. They going to make it wide bodied?
LOL, $300k? That's cute. Try multiplying that number a few more times.
Hell yeah! Tom, I'm so glad to see this project is actually coming along. Its been a long time coming. Engineering genius.👊
Engineering God!
WOW .... what a dream !! Old school, new school. Hopefully the updates keep coming.
Wow, I got no words. Can’t wait to see this thing rip apart GTRs
Holy Crap!!!!! Where has this guy been hiding.... that's amazing!
possibly the craziest build I've ever seen anywhere. an engineering masterpiece!
I'm going to get my 71 impala built by Nelson!!! Mark my words!
06/24/2019 Mraked.
What a machine! Best in the world quality. Nice work
America is not the world.
mike force lol he didn’t say this car is the best in the world nre makes some of the highest quality parts in the world. So keep quiet
Omg that thing is gonna be legendary when it's done
Absolute GENIUS! Amazing talent, skill, and creativity.
found this video because this is exactly what I'm wanting to do for a build. incredible! Love the engines this guy builds! hope to have one someday. or use for my business
I’m really happy that this is being made.
I have pics of it at your shop from about 8 years ago. Stoked your building it again.
Super insane build and I'm really excited to see it progress.
One question. And not hating because obviously u guys are smarter than me with this stuff. Why do a powerglide? If this is a street car and a hot rod, would seem a more modern transmission with more gears would be a better fit. Is it strictly power handling capability?
This is how my very basic brain works lol. Hopefully this question warrants a response. Keep up the awesome work
I could be wrong, but with the t-case having OD, you could probably make it act like a 4 speed (1st, 1st OD, 2nd, 2nd OD) but the way Tom put it, they'll use it like a 3 spd (OD in 2nd only) Also assuming they'll use a lockup TC.
I can't wait to see this car finished and laying rubber around Chatsworth
Still no update? I've been waiting years to see any kind of progress on this build. It will be the greatest build of all time.
All I can say is wow I am so glad to see this project moving forward. Tom I have been following your career for years you have done everything from airboats to trophy trucks to Salt Flat cars just to name a few you are at the Pinnacle of engineering an engine building you do what others dream of doing. PS to all the haters out there you can keep hating. Tom just gets better
If I ever win the lottery, I am going to have these guys build me a car..... I can't touch that quality of work.
I had to check the date on this video! So glad to see this getting attention again!!!
Can't wait!! Nelson and his team are wizards of the car world!!
I would like to see tons of carbon fiber in this build! Like the evolution charger but way nastier lmao AND KEEP THE UPDATES COMING
I reckon the opposite- it would be far cooler all tinned out. Of coarse it would be heavier, but so much cooler and harder to build
@@danielbrealey2924 i love beautiful hand fabricated sheet metal work as well.but carbon fiber is difficult to do right. especially lining and matching patterns from each body panel to the next. plus hes already done full metal. carbon is part of the evolution and hes behind lol and as you said its already a heavy bitch w that twinturbo big block and tube chassis
@Wikkitt Klown you say weight does not matter and then you mention 1/4 mile. I hope this is driven in all kinds of manner not just straight and drag.
EE DESIGN seeing how the car is only 5 inches from the ground I’m gonna guess this car is only for breaking records at the strip
@Wikkitt Klown ... That depends on what kind of numbers you're trying to put up..... There's a reason serious NHRA cars don't have body panels made out of steel
One of the best in the business. Absolutely an artform.
Nelson's creations are the best I've ever seen.....
The '67 goat is such a beautiful car, I remember them well from back in the day. No one could have even dreamed anything this wild back then. Glad to hear someone stepped up with the bankroll to get it finished. I am really looking forward to seeing the end product splashed all over the magazines and internet. 💕
I sure understand the amount of ti e, effort and money it takes to complete an auto resto-mod. I've had my '65 Corvair for over ten years and its only seen the road on its drive to my garage, when I bought it. And I'm still another five years away from driving it. Keep on truckin' and congrats to the new owner for going w/ the flow on the build.
Came here from 1320video. When I saw Nelsons face I knew this was not gonna be clickbait
Glad to see you guys are still in business. Not seeing any content had us wondering about you
Out cruising back in the '80s, we pulled alongside a '64 GTO (as I recall). The windows were blacked out and the guy in the backseat rolled down his window. It turned out that he was the driver, driving it from the backseat. The car was designed by his dad (who was an engineer). The engine was placed in the center of the car to achieve perfect balance. He got killed in it not long after. It turned out, having the engine in the passenger compartment was a hazard. Tragic but cool.
Evertime I see a mad lad custom. I say to myself. Surely the next one won't blow my mind. Then this build shows in my recommended. Just holy cow! I can't even describe my actual amazement level.
Although my customization level is only about one level below you guys. One time I adjusted the air pressure in a set of go cart tires. I am currently writing an autobiography about this and trying to sell the screen rights for the upcoming movie.
Cheers
My man, MADE IN AMERICA! Alright then, keep moving, no sleep. I want an update every week!
I bet it will be insane!
It will posees the best bits of automotive industry.
That’s pretty damn insane.
Happy this is finally going to be completed
I wonder how many people are drooling right now lol because I am !
Your phone is going to be ringing off the hook so many people are going to want one
this is inspiring.. These are the type of projects I want to build.
The man is a creative genius.
Tom Nelson setting the bar pretty high on this one!
I definitely need this set up for a project I wanna build with your motors GREAT WORK!!!!!!
That’s pretty cool for Tom Nelson to say a car is going to be “insane”...
Well the way he tosses that word around, it's not saying much these days.
ABOlsen69X well, looks like you understand my sarcasm
We need stories like this so people understand that while we may race on the order of seconds. These builds are Marathon undertakings spanning large chunks of people's lives. Nobody is fast overnight.
Truly one of the most impressive builds I’ve ever seen!!
You took my dead dads car & turned it into a dirt beast like he wanted . Wish he could see it . We romped his through creeks & streams to get to Deep Creek in the Arrowhead mountains .
AWD FTMFW! About time a builder understands that AWD is a must once you surpass 600hp. This car is gonna be sick once completed! And it'll actually hook up from a dig. Kinda. 2500hp is no joke. I'm only at 620 whp with AWD and she still does 4 wheel burnouts from a dig.
Brendon Kelly its a must? Or just buy good Tires lmao
NRE's metal fab is incredible. It's immaculate.
The best car builders period.
No words,. Hope the new owner pushes the finish. Unicorn by every means. Props to Nelson racing and all contributors
Came because it said "AWD GTO." Stayed because it's not really a GTO now but you ARE making a pretty cool platform for a GTO body to sit on.
WOW, THAT IS AWESOME!!!!! SO SWEET, Wish my projects were that tight and tidy!!!! maybe i need a bigger budget.
This is going to be a well balanced monster 😁
You're right , INSANE! I can hardly wait.
I own a hotrod shop and that is way over my head lol very impressive work I love the engineering aspect and cad modeling. That’s well over a million after it’s done.
That looks to be an AMAZING piece of engineering. Can’t wait for the results!
I gotta build a car your a god at it. Beautiful work. Im jealous. I have to get a hold of you.
Definitely a piece of automotive artwork
Amazing, I always had the same dream! Ever sense learning how fast the WRX STI is without much engine basically because of the turbo and AWD, I've always wanted to see that in a a beautiful old school American muscle car. This build will be the "beat all, win all" of automobile history. Can't wait to see it done.
Dude i've loved this channel for years. Tom is a god I love watching his ideas and creations, doing this kind of thing was always my dream
I’m fucking stoked to see this car Barack on track. I have a 67 GTO coupe. Always wondered what happend to this project. A project like this couldn’t be in better hands 🤘🏼
Can't wait to see this monster when it's done.
“Oh, these are just the headers ...” .... dude, these the most beautiful hand fabbed headers I’ve seen! Beautiful work.
Sorry, just a nit comment here, though. It looked like you started|finished the weld on the out facing (visible) side. It would have been a touch cleaner to finish on the block facing side ... in my opinion.....I probably shouldn’t have said anything, but from your previous work, you are a perfectionist. I love it all. Thanks for sharing and can’t wait to see it rollin’.
Sure would like to see the progress on this!
Tom Nelson always building the sickest and quickest rides around!
Project started 10 years ago and is ahead of anything I've seen yet. Impressed.
I'd love to see this race the Rob's 4 rotor someday, incredible.
Nelson is a mad scientist. I love his vision. Can't wait to see him drive the monstrosity.
God damn it Tom, couldn't you at least put a Pontiac engine in your GTO?
This is gonna be a sick trick. AWESOME
Wow what vision! Great idea , cant wait to see her run.
He's a frickin genius the turbo God!!
Yes definitely wanting to see more of this build
Every video from NRE makes me feel like I’m dreaming except they’re actually doing it
Now that's a Grand Tourismo Ottomogatto (sp). At least call it by its proper mame... GOAT. Very impressive build. Thank you
*GTO* : Gran Turismo Omologato
(Grand Tourer Homologated) which means its certified to race in "Grand Tourer class."
Its pretty much a race ready factory car.
Can't wait to see this finished!
Dream setup and that cage is so discreet
I'm a sucker for some beautiful welds lol, looking forward to this Build
This is what most people dream of building.
I have dreamed of doing something similar to this with a Dodge Aspen wagon.
For those who want to know my dream car.
Dodge Aspen wagon with twin turbo hellcat motor. Manual transmission. Stick shift and paddle shifters incase if I want to use either one. 4WD so I can do burnouts and drift and be able to daily during winter. I also want it to be a hybrid. So I could get really good gas mileage whilst being eco friendly. Double wishbone suspension for all wheels. Carbon ceramic disc brakes. Obviously it would need a roll cage but I want it to be barely visible. Like super snug to the body. And be hidden by interior panels. Custom made race seats to almost blend in with the stock bench seats.
Can't wait to see more on this build
Regular people cant fathom the level of expertise going on here...this shit is unheard of. Just wow!
a plus for the video production
Can't wait to see it done that's going to be one bad ass gto AWD.
Holy shit! That is definitely going to be insane. Can't wait to see it finished. Incredible.
so awesome to see this being worked on again, I remember years ago watching the vid of you talking about the project, I had
been wondering what ever happened to it.
Can't wait to see this masterpiece up and running.
Another sub right here.
