I enjoy your videos very much. How many Fj 400s do you have in the set up? Is the Fj400 inside the soft box turned on? I am new to setting up the flash studio. Thanks so much
Great simple video to follow to get good results. Such a beautiful model - She was perfect in being so consistent to really see the differences in the camera settings.
I thought chatGPT told photographers what settings and what lens to use. This is mindblowing! I love the humor you bring to photography and your channel.
Excellent video -- Started off with " HUMOR and I will share this video with aspiring photorgraphers -- great explanation & demos why different lens choices, depth of fields & showing of pictures side by side for comparison. After I " retired ", started a photography business, and For over ten years, Photographed many weddings and also portraitures .Discontinued weddings in 2018 ( health ) -- now refer wedding to other photographers., This video of yours inspired me to think of continuing portraiture.
Great video. I have a question. When you explain why you use an aperture of f/4, it is not clear to me whether you changed the flash power for all apertures 2.8 4 5.6 8.0, that the light in the examples is always correct. Experience, pre-tested? Or did you do it differently?
I adjusted the power on the strobe until it was a correct exposure at f/4. If i were to change to f/5.6 I would have to increase the strobe power by one stop. If I change the aperture to f/2.8 I would decrease the power of the strobe by one stop. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/mPEIAERw3cI/видео.html
It is not set by the f-stop of the cameras. There are several ways to know. Here is a video that will teach you: ruclips.net/video/_dgnhjJN-Lg/видео.html
In some cases, I’ve seen photographers go entirely in the dark to kill ambient before shooting, and/or use the modeling light. So at 160 shutter, I can leave the lights on anyway?
Generally speaking at 1/160 of a sec at f/5.6 or f/8 most ambient lights are not going to give you a problem. The best thing to do is to take a shot with the strobes off using your camera settings. And that will show you how much the ambient is affecting your image. You want it to be a black box.

Thank you for sharing your expertise. Thanks to the beautiful model. Thank you for the humor as well. That intro caught me by surprise :).
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a question what about a studio family Christmas portrait with 9 members. What will be the best aperture to have everyone in focus using a z6ii?
Great simple video to follow to get good results. Such a beautiful model - She was perfect in being so consistent to really see the differences in the camera settings.
Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, Chanda is great to work with!
I've been using a constant lighting setup for head shots. Might have to switch to flash soon. Thanks for the content!!
Once you try it you will love it. Thanks for your comment!

Great to hear. Glad you feel inspired!
Thanks for letting me know about the background. Would like to find something that is good to project on and shows good colour. Any advice?

I appreciate that Gregory! Thanks for the positive feedback!
Sorry if this sounds like a dorky question, but the rim light and background light....all strobes?
Not a dorky question. Yes, all the lights are strobes.
Would love to know the background colour and maker. Nice photos.
That is a custom painted backdrop we had made years ago.
How do you know what power setting to use for the lighting? Or is it automatically set by the F Stop of the camers
It is not set by the f-stop of the cameras. There are several ways to know. Here is a video that will teach you: ruclips.net/video/_dgnhjJN-Lg/видео.html

Does a 42.5mm MFT lens give the same compression as a FF 85mm?
It should give you similar compression to the full frame 85mm. Something to test to be sure.
My 85mm is actually my 90mm macro, it's excellent
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!
Thank you

What's the light power of the background light and the main light

👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the thumbs up. Glad you enjoyed it!
What camera are you using?
I use all those settings. I am not sure which Kelvin setting I like most yet. Somewhere between 5000-5700
5600 is basically sunlight so you’re right there.
Good to hear. Thanks for sharing your preference!
Omg nobody commented about the softbox that blew her mind? 😂
Probably staged
Glad you appreciated it. Thanks for commenting!
Everyone skipped that part 😂
I saw it! LOL
Do you like or use beauty dishes for female portraits? If yes, what’s your setup?
You might like these two videos about using a beauty dish: ruclips.net/video/Vmduhxj_LQA/видео.html
and ruclips.net/video/w-cQyJWNvLY/видео.html
My go to is 5.6, 1/250, ISO 100
Those sound like great settings as well!
This feels like studio portraits from 1990.
Thanks for watching and keep on clickin!
Pas obligé de pencher l'objectif pour prendre au 35 MM... Quelle idée...
You have to tilt down to get their head in the image. Otherwise you have to lower the angle of view and it is not flattering.
LOL.. I hope she's ok. Cant tell if it was setup or it was a real accident
Good video, but sensor size doesn't affect depth of field.
Sensor size does indeed affect depth of field, light gathering, ISO performance, field of view, and dynamic range...
