  • Global Energy Forum at COP28 - Recent disruptions in global energy markets have added momentum to the pace of the energy transition. Yet, it has become clear that a North-South divide in transition priorities and strategies has emerged. Many developing countries are prioritizing energy security and economic development over climate mitigation alone. Maintaining growth will require reconciliation between addressing climate change and ensuring economic progress and access to reliable, affordable energy in the Global South. What will this balance look like? Can the energy transition itself facilitate development? How can developed countries support a just energy transition in the Global South?
