    Anytime I'm training a new detailer or even a lot attendant, I stress the importance of cleaning the wheels and making them pop because so many people look at the wheels before the paint and when the wheel looks amazing, you nailed the first impression to the customer's eyes. Oh and RIP to the tire tech that tries to balance that Honda wheel next time 🤣🤣

      Exactly! Nothing better than a perfectly dressed tire and clean wheel, it just brings the car together. It's not my favorite thing to do, but it's my favorite part of a clean vehicle.

    We all love to buy crap, but we want to make our own natural ingredient tire shine. Is that so hard to find now adays or should we go read some vintage car mags. I'll chose the later and go to the library or yard sale for real information. (Thumbs up because we still love ya.)

    Those of us who cam go down the wheel rabbit hole like what we just saw. I purchased a traditional woolie and a angled woolie from Car supplies and they are still holding up over a year later. I use these a lot too and the work stuff brushes are awesome too. Does the Shine Supply. One in a gallon size like Meguiars Non Acid cleaner? I’m lazy at times so after coating a wheel I use a product like Gyeon wetcoat for maintenance washes and just power wash off. Thank you for the video and for having the best online shop for buying chemicals and tools. Maybe Santa can bring me the wheel stand you were using.

    When a wheel has been neglected it is easier to take it off wheel and to then clean using an acid based cleaner away from the vehicle as long as the clear is not compromised on the wheel. You don’t use acid based cleaners regularly on a car. You chose the safest cleaning routes to minimize risk to the vehicle but sometimes you have to use an acidic cleaner for the sake of time when the wheel is caked with buildup.

    I used to use those types of curved foam applicators for tire dressing. They work okay. But the Detail Factory Curveball brush is where it’s at. Spray the product directly onto the brush, then brush it onto and around the tire. Super easy and less messy also.

    Personally I wouldn't use ANY chemicals on my wheels. I use a regular wax free car wash soap & a soft brush. It takes a little longer but its guaranteed NOT to do any harm to my wheels. But he's the professional.

    i dont have the time or will power to go nutz and actually coat a wheel, but i just use mequiars ceramic detail spray on my wheels. crud cleans off easy, and they stay looking good between washes. im sure an actual coating is better, but sometimes you gotta draw the line at enough.

  • @01hafkee

    I have a set of hyper black color wheels that have been ceramic coated since new. They spot terrible. What would be the safest way to clean them and deal withe the spotting? Thanks

  • @stephenlouden480
    @stephenlouden480 2 года назад

    I actually use a ceramic spray on my freshly cleaned tires after they dry, then I apply a dressing and buff it off. It really prevents the tires from having to be scrubbed the next time I clean them. it doesn't last as long as it does on the paint but helps save time cleaning the tires for a good few washes.

    Great video. I just don't understand everyone's aversion to wheel acid. If you detail for a living, chemicals get expensive, especially the iron removers. It's just as safe when used correctly and like a 4th the price

      @ChicagoAutoPros  2 года назад +1

      Yes, acid is great but comes with risks. We chose to avoid it in our situation.

    Glad to see shine supply getting recognition! I used there tire shine for years but recently changed due to inflation, used to be 60 bucks for a gallon and made you multiple 32oz bottles, now it’s 100$, found a tire shine that’s literally exactly the same for half the price.
