- A vase with open segments, without the headache of mitre cuts?
In this video I turn a vase made of wood chips and two different species.
The finish is provided by clear acrylic varnish.

Nice work. One variant I would suggest (and what I was thinking you were originally doing) would be to make a lamp. I can see something like a pair of those on a console table (or similar), or as a night light for a child.

Sir I do woodturning an other things but I'm still part of the funnel club 😋
Wouldn't it of been easier to sand the end grain of the wood after you cut it and before you glued it together rather than use a file to smooth it out? That way if you had to sand it you wouldn't have nowhere near as much to do with a file and it would be mostly the glue squeeze out. Just an idea, thats all. I love how it turned out though!! Another awesome piece, just like every other one you make. Keep up the good work!

Another tall vase with a small base so that you can easily knock it over. Yay!

there is absolutely no need for a large base to hold a bowl there are even traditional Tibetan bowls with very fine bases and that is very pretty 😉

Very cool and beautiful piece. What kind of wood did you use and what is the finish that you used on that? I have wanted to try doing something similar for a while but wasn’t sure how well it would work out. Definitely going to give it a try now after seeing how well yours came out. Great work.

I used jatoba and ash, the finish was done with carnauba wax
sprinkle some salt on the glue, not much, it will keep parts from slipping while assembling and clamping

Simply put, outstanding! How much trouble would it be to turn a resin tube, {no matter the color, only crystal} for the core, so one could display fresh flowers? The vase is so pretty!
