- Following Iran's attack on Israel over the weekend, Rishi Sunak spoke in the Commons to reiterate the UK's support for Israel and to push for a "humanitarian pause" in Gaza.

Geopolitics isnt about compassion but interest. Israel is definitely better for relations to our country than Iranian backed terrorist groups. As messy as this entire situation is, and in my eyes all sides involved are war criminals, the most we can do is avoid more major conflicts. Israel bombing embassies has consequences and it shouldnt be our responsibility to bail Israel out whenever they escalate tensions, but we all shouldnt pretend that Iran are somehow innocent. Its a regime the people of Iran dont support, and their terrorist funded groups Hamas, Hezbollah and the Houthis have caused so much destruction across the middle east already. This isnt exactly a war you can pick sides and act like its the moral thing to do

@@waleedmukhtar2925 as far as I'm concerned, and a majority of the west, both regimes are genocidal 'nazi' states, one disguises themselves as democracy to fulfill their interests and the other is just an Islamic regime using terrorist groups to cause chaos all over the Middle East, and disrupt global trade. From a moral standpoint I just said supporting either isn't moral, but geopolitics is about interests and it serves in the west's interest to support Israel if they were to pick a side. Iranians dislike their government and Iran itself supports terrorist groups which have disrupted global trade but more importantly caused anarchy in the middle east. The question on which side to pick isn't about morals. Because you can't morally pick a 'good' side in this fight. But it serves in the UKs interest to back Israel, their only middle Eastern ally.
