    As you learned, fender washers are not enough to spread the load. In general, you should always add some aluminum angle or brackets to form a brace on top of the splitter. But nice job on the repair.

    Biggest takeaway, reinforce your mount points before you have too!
    Easier said than done though, if you don't know where they're going to be and it's a one off.

      absolutely this! most things i have done, customers have no clue how its going to be mounted. i usually add extra layer in places where i think its going to me mounted.
