I am 78, and I have been studying cannabis since 1966.

I am a retired EMT firefighter in a major city and would gladly have a shift with half a dozen patients that were high , then one drunk ! Alcohol was one of the worst !
Tobacco shouldn't be schedule 1, it has accepted medical use for alleviating some gastrointestinal issues, it should be scheduled similar to Cocaine which is highly addictive but is also used as a vasoconstrictior for maxilofacial surgery.

No less than two years in it opened a huge grey market for dispensary grade flower accidentally being legalized since Delta 9 THC isn't active until heated up and otherwise exist in it's acidic form THC-A (grown flower not to be confused with extracts /sprayed packs). So a lot of companies are selling regular weed in the hemp market and have since about 2020.

Marijuana does not need to be rescheduled. Alcohol is far more dangerous and It is not Schedule. Use your head and do not let them do this
Marijuana is currently Schedule 1, meaning the DEA considers it to have no valid medical uses. This has been its classification since the Controlled Substances Act was signed in 1970. "Rescheduling" marijuana to Schedule 3 means it would still be legally restricted, but the federal government would recognize that it does have some medical uses. This is a step in the right direction.

This is long overdue. Long, long overdue. Medical Marijuana helped get me off of pain management. I was told by doctors I'd never work again. I'm back to work, not on a bunch of pills that don't help, AND off of disability. Imagine how many more people could do the same if they had that option.

What’s exciting to me is that the opportunity to study it opens up with reclassification. For those of us with illnesses not effectively treated by Western medicine, studies could identify the specific components of cannabis that provide the help we need. That kind of data isn’t likely to become available in my lifetime, but I have hope for future generations.

I took one hit of a bong. I inhaled too much and hacked up a lung because it was my first time. I was just hungry after and have never wanted to take another hit. Opiates though... well, my girlfriend's dad went to jail because the hospital got him medically addicted to them. Cigarettes are legal even though they have a net negative effect on health, Marijuana has been legalized in a few states, and when was the last time those states have been in the news or on lists as states not to travel to?
