The 3 big glends ,glenfiddich 12,glenlivet 12 and glenmorangie 10 are not made for maltheads but for the occasional whisky drinker, BUT as someone who enjoys( like me) the world of Whiskies these mass produced products should never be looked down on. I have always got at least one of these bottles at home. Good vid Horst, have been watching your vids now for years 👍.
I agree, it's the basic goodness I always come back to after trying more exotic flavors. I was also impressed by Singleton which I thought was similar.
Versatile, basic, and beautifully fruity. 7/10. Fruity - pear and hints of apple and perhaps honeycomb; Slightly dry finish that leads to almost a nutty chocolate. Very little smokiness. Excellent for beginners. Cheers!
Very nice. I am going through a few whiskeys looking to learn more. Currently enjoying the Lagavulin 16 and the lagavulin 8 and a sneaky Canadian 21 yr old pike creak (finished in speyside casks) I am happily surprised with the Glenfiddich 12 (present at Christmas) very light, fresh and palatable. Definitely a starter. I do like the more complex dram on a winters night however the glen 12 will now be added to the cabinet as an easy evening dram any day of the week. Have a dram for me.
Great review.. to me it's the all time "Introduction to Malt" and a solid, great value purchase. How can you fault this... consitently a quality entry-level malt.
I'm a beginner in the whisky world and really enjoyed this one for its smoothness. Can you guys recommend other whiskies with more intensity on the palate with a similar profile? Also, what whisky with the opposite profile would you recommend as well?
I was core gin/vodka person, dont know why I stop and jumped on whiskey after watching your several videos.. I guess you are a whiskey influencer for all !!😀
I agree its a very easy-going single malt. Not a cherry finish but neither a peat bomb.Great single malt.I enjoy the symbolic interpretation of the bottle!
These speyside whiskies are just so similar to one another: honey and vanilla on the nose, hint of fruitiness, and on the palate some straight forward oakiness, vanilla and some spicy aftertaste. But you have to try really hard to pick all those flavours up, other than the oak itself. Just bought the 12 and it left me somewhat indifferent.
What State are you in? This is a hugely popular Scotch in America, generally speaking. You can find it in virtually every bar and restaurant, and most stores. Perhaps you're not looking in the right section? It won't be with the Bourbons or Rums, but the Scotch shelves. My local grocery store has tons of Bourbons, and very few Scotches. But in that small section, they are well-stocked with Glenfiddich 12. When I go to an actual liquor store, Glenfiddich takes up its own shelf or two. This is a very big brand in America, and has been since the end of Prohibition... and, if we're honest, during. ;) It could be your State simply doesn't like the stuff. But I have feeling it's probably there, you've just been overlooking it. I hope you find it. The Original 12 is such a bright, fruity, and delightful drink. It somehow tastes "cool" on your tongue, even when room temperature.
Most boring whisky in the world i thought i would give it a try from the reviews but it tasted Just like a cheap blend never again worst €25 euro's ever spend
@@johnnyboy1586 I find on the nose it's kind of neat. Floral and fruity. The taste goes away very quickly and it dies off. Compared to a lot of single malts it really doesn't stick around but the nose is pretty.
Horst palming "crap" in a review made my day. This channel has made my whisky journey so much better. Thanks guys!
Exactly! Who said Germans have no humour!
@@jeongwoohyeon9464 isnt he dutch?
@@agee7777 nope, german.
Bought my first bottle today. Looking forward to trying it.

"beginners whisky" 100% agree. It was my first scotch ever and I still enjoy it after many other whiskies that I have tried.

Absolutely
The new bottle design is quite nice. The 12 was my first whisky I ever tried, still one I keep stocked in my bar!

Wow - High Definition! Sending love from London!
Herr Luening's solo comprehensive reviews are the best.
Totally agree. He is so very good. Unpretentious and down to earth but so knowledgeable.
My firs single malt was a laphroaig 10. And i loved it.
Mine was a Laphroaig select and I was instantly hooked , I do keep a bottle of 10 but I definitely prefer the select
I'm a big fan of Glenfiddich 15 Solera. One of my favorite easy drinkers.
Marzipany...so rather tasty..but 40% abv,just lack any real character,so not much point in them..too watery!💦
In my opinion the perfect introduction into the world of whisky.
Bougth my first one today... very nice and good taste!
Glenfiddich 12 is 50$ where I live. That's cheap for a single malt too! Fingers crossed it goes down soon.
Probably the best "starter" 12 year single malt. Its very smooth and so easy to sip on
Just brought my first bottle and tried it, absolutely beautiful. Respect from Turkey 🇹🇷
I got my first bottle today 🇬🇧

Many thanks for the video, this will be my next whisky !
Nice review, thanks. Yeah I like a small glass of Glenfiddich 12 once in a while.
Still one of the best!
I like your chair sir.
Thanks Horst, great review as always!!
Very floral. Very bright. fairly smooth. One of the first scotches I ever tried... always remember it as the one in small bottles in hotels.
My favo first malt whisky(10 y ago). I’m now fan of scapa skiren( expensive malt one)😁
great video, thanks for doing this one. didn't know it's family owned
The Grant family in Northeast Scotland own this. It's lovely:)

Hi, which one would you go for it? Glenfiddich 12 or Jura 10? Thank you
The Glenfiddich 12 years is a really famous Single Malt and also very good, but if you want to taste something more exotic go with the Jura 10.
Depends whether you like sherry finish
Bulova moon watch? I really like Glenfiddich 12 especially for the price 👍
im 100% sure it is, i noticed that watch to :D he shifted from away the the ''old'' submarina i usually have seen in his other videos.
What kind of glass are you using???
You can mask out the whisky from the green screen in your video editing software.
5:37 Yes, the three sides are for the three ingredients in Whisky but they are not Malt, Water and Fire....LOL
They are Malt, Water and Yeast.
I wish I could find some here in the states. Scotch is the only thing I haven't tried.

Please review Henry McKenna!!!!
Good stuff nice review
Tis the season
What happened to Rolex? You switch to Bulova now?
I started domain investing a few years ago and just fyi whisky.com is a multi million dollar domain. If your ever interested in calling it quits.
I tried Glenfiddich 12 and here is the list of my positives about it: a nice box and a nice bottle. Full stop.
I do prefer the older options, a 15 year is a minimum for me..
Somehow I just don't like this whisky. Maybe scotch isn't for me.
I'm so sorry to say but the energy of your videos has plummeted. I'm afraid the magic has left you but I will still tune in
Catnap Gee it’s hard to be energetic about Glenfiddich 12.
