I am so impressed by Steve’s skill of bending metal. Good lord , that piece that covers the heater pipe is so intricate and he makes it look like a walk in the park.
thanks for showing the full sequence and how you adjust, check, adjust, make a new piece when it was too short, adjust etc. so simple and relaxed as you work through your process. inspiring.
7:50 - This car has led a very hard life... I can't believe there is another layer of metal added there as well. You're the man to fix it though, no doubt about that! Watching the tin-top transformation will be something else, good luck.
Watching you Steve is fascinating having made templates and turned them into repair panels is so satisfying . You sir deserve all the good comments .👍🏻👏👏
I love the way that Steve uses flat plate, basic tools and years of experience to create complex shapes, he makes it look so easy, the sign of a true craftsman!!!
This work is so good. You make the metal talk to you. I have been a fitter welder for over 30 years. I am so inpressed. It's a pleasure watching first class work. Thankyou and we'll done
Mr Steve, the repairs to the outer sill, sorry maybe it was the inner sill, and heating pipe back there were top notch craftsmanship. Congratulations. Thanks for showing us the work. I watched the whole thing at 0,25 x speed and enjoyed.
Hi Steve I’m in awe of your work watching you work out problems bending cutting shaping truly a professional Of great skill and ability I could do with calling to get my car looked at! A bit of a drive I’m not as young has I used to be and I find driving short distances a crippler and I’ve been everywhere having been a wagon driver most of my life, 54 years retired at 68 after a nasty fall at a customers premises!
Such craftsmanship Steve! I’m struggling to stop myself buying a fixer upper just to bring it to you for you to fix it! Knowing me id buy a basket case thats a bigger job than Ryan’s disaster Datsun.
Your skill level is so high Steve, it is impressive. One thing is to bend the metal but finding out how to bend it and cut it the right way to make a panel is hard. Good job mate. I wish I was half as good as you are.
Steve, work on the heater tube and that section of inner panel is pure art! It will be nice to finally see invisible work about done and start on more outer panels to get the car closer to what it was originally!😁
Wow the work. On this. Granted a coupe is favored often by Porsche folks but splicing a sunroof on a targa and then deleting the sunroof omg This blows my Mind. The repair costs must be over the top. You clearly are a committed individual! Nice work!
Its just mind blowing what you guys take on. I just absolutely love your channel and what you achieve. I would love to come and visit you both and your workshop. Well done 👏 👌👍
Ambitious ! How much extra structure is there in the floor section in a Targa compared to a tin roof ? I think it will end up to be a very rigid car. By the way, very nice work. 👌 Hint, you can add piece of flex metal tube in the heat channel before assembly to keep it more tight. Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
I only had one problem with this build… it’s a Targra! When I saw the tin roof I thought cool, but it would be even better without a sunroof… I’m happy now!
Steve how long was your apprenticeship and how many years experience have you got now? you have taught me so much so thankyou. Your a bit of a genius with metal. thanks for all the content.
will this need to go thru type-approval for radically-altered? I know it's very hard to do this when you are taking away parts of the structure (saloon to pick-up or convertible for example) but as you are adding a roof it's a bit different 🤷♂
Wow Steve!...If the 911 wasn't a tough enough gig already now you have to put a roof on!! 😲😲....Must admit though it's the right way to go, as much as I love the 911 I was never a huge fan of the Targa Top version.....Love watching you work and the skills you have! 👍👍
Hi Steve, I've been watching your videos for quite some time now and there's been a very noticeable development in the quality of your work, which is impressive seeing as you're expanding the business at the same time 👍 Can I ask what type of belts you use on the finger sander? I thought I'd bought some Norton ones off ebay but they last seconds for when it comes to finishing off mig welds!
Again, joining the watch late, but I did not see the roof coming! I hope the chassis was free or personal to the owner, as I think it would be cheaper start with one less rusty!
I'd love to see how you delete the sunroof. On my TR7 FHC I joddled a part roof panel and bonded it in with sikaflex 4720. If you can weld it without shrinkage I'll be very jealous.....
At 21.30 in the video any armchair critics should've been silenced! Nice metal dressing, rare to see this much attention to detail. Good work Steve, you are an artisan 👏
Finally someone's getting the ducks in a row! A Porsche Targa is wrong. ALL wrong! A proper Porsche is the one with a fixed roof! You'll never get the proper driving dynamics in a floppy roof. (Still slightly envious, either way a fixed or a Targa top... ;-) )
Sooooo really not much original material left of that car then when new roof, dash, rear deck is welded in… It would have been awesome to have an ‘Expensive Porsche Rust’ box as well!🤣✌️🤘🇨🇦
Steve - go get yourself a Vires welding mask. They're absolutely cheap as chips, under 60 snots, ought be garbage for the money, weigh nothing and.... damn... pal chucked one at me the other day going "Oi, Lanky, try this...keep it, thank me later" You couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands it's that good. The lightness.... the clarity.... the sheer lack of faffy bits... Thank me later if you get one. :-)
"So I have this really rusty Targa Top and I want to make it into a hard top." Normal guys; " Don't bother, just go find yourself a hard top." Yorkshire guys; " Hold my cup of tea." (Yorkshire Tea of course.)
Come on Steve a coupe with sunroof and you will erase that ? is this really worth it how much all of this will cost to the owner ?probably not far from a genuine sound coupe... and at the end no matter the extraordinary high quality job you performed this will be a targa modified to coupe specs ... not really collectable... even probably magnificent...
I am so impressed by Steve’s skill of bending metal. Good lord , that piece that covers the heater pipe is so intricate and he makes it look like a walk in the park.
That is a complicated repair. Great stuff.
thanks for showing the full sequence and how you adjust, check, adjust, make a new piece when it was too short, adjust etc. so simple and relaxed as you work through your process. inspiring.

That was a masterclass in panel beating! Great to watch someone who can do a job really well....
Watching you Steve is fascinating having made templates and turned them into repair panels is so satisfying . You sir deserve all the good comments .👍🏻👏👏

Excellent fabrication, the strength has been reinstated that's not going anywhere, keep the excellent videos coming.
One of the most satisfying panel making vids so far, good work Steve, I can see where Ryan gets it from.
You are doing that 911 a great service. I can’t wait until you have completed the transformation.🎉
You sir, are a metal working wizard!
That's next level metalwork . Hats off to that man.
Mr Steve, the repairs to the outer sill, sorry maybe it was the inner sill, and heating pipe back there were top notch craftsmanship. Congratulations. Thanks for showing us the work. I watched the whole thing at 0,25 x speed and enjoyed.

Some Real Metal-Shaping Wizard´s, a pleasure to watch! Thank you!!

is there anything worst than the Disaster Datsun ? :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Hold my beer....
@@yorkshirecarrestorationthat cosmo you have there looks like it might be worse😅

Absolutely brilliant job guys really have to say time-lapse doesn't do you guys any justice 👍
Yeah. Coupe is the way to go. Very impressed by your work. Keep it up. Love to see a good old 911 restore to its glory.👍👍👍
Steve, work on the heater tube and that section of inner panel is pure art! It will be nice to finally see invisible work about done and start on more outer panels to get the car closer to what it was originally!😁
I've said it before Steve, but have to say it again, you are insanely good at what you do. My favourite channel now bar none. Fantastic mate.
Wow the work. On this. Granted a coupe is favored often by Porsche folks but splicing a sunroof on a targa and then deleting the sunroof omg This blows my Mind. The repair costs must be over the top. You clearly are a committed individual! Nice work!
I could watch this for hours, very skillful. 👍
Superb work Steve as usual ! Really do appreciate these videos .👍
Who needs a Press machine when you've got a machine like Steve with a Grinder, Tin Snips a Hammer and a Welder! No Rusty panels are safe😅
That is seriously impressive work. Inspirational!
Oh crap! I would not know where to start, i think your client has struck gold with you guys. Superb fabrication Steve.
The man is a tin genius. Great work. Ivan
Who knew porches could have soooo many rust hidden places well done in finding them
I knew, i had one ...tons and tons of rust on the old girl... it was a 1980 SC , so when people say cheap barn find, be very careful....
Hiya Steve incredible work you and Ryan make things look so easy great video as always absolutely love the channel and what you both do 👍👌❤️
Beautiful work with an attention to details. Love it!
Exactly the repair I'm about to undertake! Got some good pointers from you Steve! Nice work!!
I wondered why there was no full welding, now i know why :D Amazing work Sir!
with such beautiful work i suspect you are trying to get Porsche certified.
love your work
Love the chanel quick question for you Steve how do you price a job like that
Literally the Midas touch Steve 👍
with all the bits being replaced on this car i think we can now call it the porsche 911 "Ship of Theseus" edition ? amazing work steve
It is so awesome to see your metal shaping skills I am blown away 🤩🤩
Excited about that roof swap! Because I gotta do it on mine. Will definitely keep following. And good job on that complicated fabrication
Unbelieveable. What a great job.
One word. Mesmerising
Impressive work! Well done…
Your sir are a magician. Bloody brilliant
What amazing and beautiful metal art work you guys do on theses cars.
Great work as always Steve 👍👍
Finessing at its extreme - phenomenal! 😀
If it was my car I would remove the old heater system and use an electric heater similar to Ev’s .
Keep the vid’s coming 👍🇦🇺
Cheers
Its just mind blowing what you guys take on. I just absolutely love your channel and what you achieve. I would love to come and visit you both and your workshop. Well done 👏 👌👍

Thank you. Fantastic skills.
Hard shapes, good work 👍👍👍
Quality work as always.keep it up.👍👍👍😎😎😎

A surgeon would be impressed with that graft.

as usual a great job done you are getting there steve....
Nice bit of fabrication Steve 100% 😊

Brilliant as always!
amazing work steve
54 years wasn’t all HGV or PSV Motorbike car then the buses at 22 passed my PSV.
From then on in till I retired at 68 46 years driving the big stuff!
Great work guys that's an awkward piece of fabrication there Steve looks really good though 👍💯
Literally the Midas touch Steve 👍
Awesome ninja skills
Crikey, I wish I worked that fast!
amazing work!

Excellent repair 👌 the car that keeps giving and giving on bad repairs every time you try repair. Just looks likes it zapping lots of time to repair.
That's some jobe converting to a tin roof - can't wait!
What gauge is the steel you use
Great idea on the tin roof, I would put electric heat and eliminate those heater pipes...
Nice work 👏 👌 👍 💪 dun well
Targa to a coupe - how may times has that been done before?
At 21.30 in the video any armchair critics should've been silenced! Nice metal dressing, rare to see this much attention to detail. Good work Steve, you are an artisan 👏
Great work but a shame they wanted a coupe I always wanted the opposite targa beautiful
Finally someone's getting the ducks in a row! A Porsche Targa is wrong. ALL wrong!

I never expected that you would put a roof on it in addition to everything else.
Great vid as usual don’t know if everyone gets the same ads but I know I will never ever use fkn Deliveroo 😡
you are a genius

I prefer a tin top too.
Electrolysis dip them. Better than blasting. Get all the rust out. Who does electrolysis dipping Yorkshire ?
Oh lalalalala pffffff ! 👍
Tidy looking work
Targa bud😊
As i keep seeing this 911 bring back from scrapyard level .... i wonder what bill will come in end ? 25 k ?

Come on Steve
a coupe with sunroof and you will erase that ?
is this really worth it

Not my decision or even my guidance, its what the customer wants :) the owner knows all the pros and cons and also pricing of original coupe's :)
