Absolutely love the level of pride in your work. When you said the the bonnet was out of line less than a millimetre you could tell the term "that'll do" isn't in your vocabulary. Truly inspiring!
You must feel proud of all these great cars you have preserved for another generation to enjoy. This 911 was ready for scrspping in a couple of years before you sorted it out.
Hello 👋 Steve that looks good 👍 buddy. I want to thank you all for singing my name plate im so proud of it and my hoodie. Tell captain yorkshire I said hello 👋 and I hope you guys are doing well today and tell the others at the shop i said hello and thank you very much.
Attention to detail and preperation is outstanding Steve. This is more relaxing watching than seeing the wife fly away for two weeks. As ever you knock the ball out of the park! Brilliant.
Beautifully explained again Steve! I always thought that’s what you done when meeting a new panel with an existing panel, thanks for the lesson though! I have learned so from you guys. All the best. Steve.
Love the detailed explanation. Curious why the customer chose flares the same front and back. Seems like most wide body 911’s use larger flares in the rear than in the front.
I was watching and thinking why you were welding then cutting and I thought it's to get it flush but I would ask, you beat me to it. Great job Steve, a work mate years ago came out of the Army with nis car from Germany and sold it for a tidy sum that paid for a Rover SD1 that he had his wide arches fitted so he could have wide Alley Cat wheels that looked the biz fitted, but the arches had that much filler over the welding the body shop wouldn't spray it. so he himself sanded it off and found some self tappers and rivet's back it went .
As always - artistry. Love seeing you work. Can't say I like those front flares though. If anything, I'd have gone with flares with cutouts/vents on the rear side, not cut into the rear of the inner fender and close out panel, like the Beemer race cars had. That would have saved the rear close outs, too. As it sits, they just add drag. Not your doing, I know: owner calls the shots, eh?
Fantastic video Steve - the prospect of taking on the task of adding wide arches always left me doom-struck - but the way you went through the process was a lesson in itself. Been an avid watcher of your stuff for quite a while, and love the content you're creating. Just subscribed, so looking forward to lots more good stuff from you and your team.
So, After all those years making great video's and doing many cars; what is your suggestion regarding the best products to use to avoid rust after your job? Do you use Dinitrol rust converter after cleanup, then spraying your new pieces with some kind of Inox spray, and eventually spray some dinitrol again over your welded surface? Do you have a video on what products to use exactly? I'm sure you have seen many cars coming back with or without rust after a repair so I really wonder what your opinion is on this. Thanks in advance! Keep up the great work. I learn much from it!😊
I personally like the wider arches. But wouldn't it be nice if they had that little square edge, like the original ones have? Would make them fit in even nicer.
The gap at the top of the door on both sides suggests that the rear of the targa chassis has flexed downwards slightly has I'm sure your aware that it's tension strengthened
The gap isn't at the top it's all the way down and that's because I haven't replaced the shimms, if the chassis had flexed there would be an uneven gap and the top of the door wouldn't be level. Also I'm sure you also didn't notice the door on the nearside locked on the catch easily. That wouldn't happen if the chassis had flexed. But thank you for watching.
Love the channel. I have watched other restoration shows and they are no where near as detail oriented or entertaining. By the way, was that a Red Dwarf reference? "the panel's black and the pen's black... so how ya going to see it?"
Steve, you initially mentioned having to modify the internal support to match the flares, but in the end you cut rear off the flares. Does this not adjust the profile along the rear edge? interested in your reasoning for changing the plan.
Question are the rear quarter panels being swapped for the omes the customer gave you if so then the wide arches have to go on them just like the roof conversion he/she wants done but keeping the sunroof would be nice unless they dont want the possbilty of rusty sunroof issues
Have you ever had weld flash? Why I'm asking is you hardly use your mask. I've had it, and it stings like a sun off a beach. I was making a recovery body out of new steel and me trying to cut corners. I was using my sunglasses and they didn't work so I had to go to the hospital to get my eyes numbed with eye drops
The plan at 1st was to convert this car from a cab to a coupe have we abandoned this plan? Sorry if its been mentioned in a previous video, i skip through them to the bits i really want to see😂
as it's a Resto..MOD..I don't think normal Porsche wheels are going on there..suspect there's something fat like 230 wide..or a completely non Porsche rack and suspension
Why at all modify for wider arches, when the original looks even better. Not to reduce the work you´re doing, cause it´s perfect, and you have to adopt to customer requirements. Rather to preserve the gorgeous original Porsche looks.

I admire Steve’s freehand cutting disc wing work. Just brilliant. Surgical.

Steve is the steel sorcerer!
Absolutely live the 911 series.
Can never say it enough. You are a Master mate.
Attention to detail and preperation is outstanding Steve. This is more relaxing watching than seeing the wife fly away for two weeks. As ever you knock the ball out of the park! Brilliant.
With the magic of editing it doesn’t really give us the time it actually takes to perform the awesome work.
Beautifully explained again Steve! I always thought that’s what you done when meeting a new panel with an existing panel, thanks for the lesson though! I have learned so from you guys. All the best. Steve.
Love your work as always, and love how you explained how your doing the work, thank you!. Also loving the music choice.
Great craftsmanship and attention to detail as usual, guys. I can't help thinking those flared arches are not a smart move, though but.
My thoughts exactly, why is my question?.
It's what the customer wants. :)
Sometimes you just have to accept the ‘cool factor’ over sensibility or wind drag…🤣🤣🤣✌️🤘🇨🇦
All cars should have flared arches by law.
I agree. The rear flares look good but not those monstrous front ones!
Your craftsmanship and eye for detail are next level and a pleasure to watch.👍👍👍
Better than a college tutorial. Love your work Steve.

Tedious frustrating work, great job.
Great detail Steve love the work you and Ryan and brothers do thank you so much from Australia.
Great work and a great demonstration of the "cut and butt" method for flush panels. Oh that red tail in the background bespokes interest lol...
Excellent work and a great video explaining the detail
True craftsmanship right there. Cheers!

Great work as ever Steve👌....that things going to look a real brute isn't it!..😮
Good video, not sure if I like the front arches thou....

wow you cut a LOT of metal off the make those flared gards fit !!! thanks for sharing your knolage steve
As always, great work, a pleasure to watch you and see another project coming together...
I m in awe at your knowledge and work in every episode.
Steve, that's great work. Thanks for showing how its done correctly.
Thank you for that explanation … it was very helpful initially understanding your process. Great work. 😊
Un gros travail de carrosserie bravo
Master class

Thanks for the great and educational video.
Superb as usual...🤔😏🇬🇧
F40🤩
Carlos fandango comes to mind.
This should be painted candy apple red with some deep barrel BBS bronze wheels.
I love this channel.

Incredible talent

Thank you 👍
this need to be seen by youtubers putting plastic wide arch this is the way
Thanks
Excellent sir
Thank you :)

I think it looks better without the front flares
Really a very nice job you made till now . I hpoe you stay at the original color off the porsche.
👍
Great work as usual. What make cutting discs do you use? Yet to find decent ones
can't wait to take my miata to you

It just wasn’t needed so trimmed instead.
Thanks for the clarification.

Will the F40 be a future project ? 🤗
Bonjour chouette travail. Vous mettez des roues plus large ???

Hadn’t previously noticed that the fuel filler flap is on the left front wing here, and on the right on 996s.
Flares first then match the rim, or
rims first and flares built around the rims?
When is the Datsun Z coming back?
Is this a customer car or a shop project?
A customer car :)
The plan at 1st was to convert this car from a cab to a coupe have we abandoned this plan?
Sorry if its been mentioned in a previous video, i skip through them to the bits i really want to see😂
Targa Booo ;)
Nice job but don't forget to wear your mask!

Did I spy somewhere interesting and red under a cover behind the 911🤔🤔🤔🤔
Ferrari F40 in the background???
This is going to be a controversial opinion reading some of the comments but those arches look mega.
Nice explanation, but I can't understand why anyone would want to do that to a Porsche road car.
Great work but those arches are awful, they're obviously not from Porsche?
Why......
Because ……
Ein Targa als Breitbau? Das wird eine handwerklich gut gemachte Karikatur. Mehr nicht. 😢
I thought it was going to be a slant nose..
Complete silence or shop noise at high speed would be better than that bloody music!
Shop noise is deffening, just turn the volume down :)
Watch on mute with subtitles 😁
